Alan progressed as a philosopher throughout his life. Near the end he was talking about this human experience as a great play, like a movie, and he said when we die we return to the green room and take off our costumes, take off our masks. Had he lived longer, he would have logically had to ask: Who scripted each role? And he would have rejected the idea that some sort of singular personality called "God" wrote each role for the literally ZILLIONS UPON ZILLIONS UPON ZILLIONS of roles on this earth alone. For you see, each living creature is playing a role and that includes living creatures such as all the insects in the ground and all bacteria and other microbes as well. The microbes within you are perfect spirits just like you -- they could have chosen to be a human personality instead of a microbial one supporting the biological body of a human. Alan was the greatest philosopher in living memory, but that doesn't mean everything he said was "right". It was a work in progress and he died young for a philosopher. Whenever you hear him say something that doesn't really make any concrete sense, then trust your intuition and common sense about it. It makes no sense to attribute the creation of life to something vague like a "universe" or "God" or "Nature". Had he lived longer, he might well have realized that the answers to the fundamental questions about Philosophy & Spirituality must meet the criteria of being the epitome of Simplicity, Fearlessness, and Good News for All living creatures. Any answer that feels vague or impossible to visualize must be rejected. Any answer that has even a hint of fear in it must be rejected. Any answer that is not as simple as possible and seems even a tiny bit complex must be rejected. I am not saying he was wrong to say the things he said, but I am saying, because he was almost constantly touring and giving these talks over many years, that what you hear are reflections of his ideas as he progressed towards the simple, fearless, good-news truths. And he was cutting edge for the times he lived in. He was an antidote to white, middle class, Christian indoctrination and/or the emerging atheistic religion called scientism.
This type of thinking originated from "white" Indo-Europeans 1000s and 1000s of years ago, and it only recently came *back* full circle with the likes of Alan. We are beginning to rediscover what we knew many millennia ago, and the only thing that prevented this from happening sooner certainly wasn't white people.
Had to watch this a couple of times. Persona lly funny parts of realization, stark reminders and creation of new ideas and hidden dangers. Things i knew , just a bit more refined and palatable.
After speaking to many people, the pandemic caused a lot of them to end relationships for a myriad of reasons. Alan has helped me navigate through the break up, and helped me to be a better person.
I DID IT...I F only we all took full responsibility for our actions and inactions we would be unable harm one another physically and emotionally.. which is the game we play.
The Games We All Play I started in this Chase by playing in Forrest's fun house of puzzles, but do you also realize that I am also playing a "game" alongside yours. In fact, there are at least four games being played out: - a game created for play by the originator of the game - but to be played by participants with an intended "known" outcome - a game being played by the participants and resulting in being watched by the originator of the game as it is played out in unknown ways - a person is playing the game for the creator's reasons, but seen being played from their own participant's perspective (multiple participants = possibly the same multiple perspectives = unknown variables) - a person is playing the game for their own reasons, unknown to the originator of the game being played ...but yet, even still, there are the fifth and sixth reasons this game is being played, built into the game as well - which results in the "games" that will play out afterwards, as 'bi-products' of the original singular game. The fifth is the reason or outcome that is of the original "projection" by and of the creator and their game - both being viewed from the creator's perception. The intended reason the game was created. The sixth is the reason or outcome that is of the original "projection" by and of the player and their game, and how the game can benefit their life - which is being viewed through the participant's/player's perception. And yet, we can now realize that there is a seventh reason. One that plays on the outcome to begin, yet another game. Also a "bi-product" of the initial game, but also the goal of both the creator and a player. In summary: 1. The creator's game with the intended / "planned" outcome 2. The player(s) playing the creator's game being watched by the creator - unknown variables are in play 3. The player playing, but from his/her perspective - controlled variables by the player(s) 4. The player(s) playing for reasons unknown to the creator - controlled variables by player(s) w/unknown results being watched by the creator 5. The projection and perception of the game by the creator, unknown to the player(s) - the intended reason for the game 6. The outcome of that projection or perception by the player(s) - how will it benefit the player(s) - their intended outcome 7. The true outcome of the game - the actual result of the game as viewed by the creator and players - Fate/Destiny? Can one even tabulate the odds of all of these variables and come up with a statistic that ultimately succumbs to be the same result? Unfortunately, no one knows they are playing the "7th game", because no one told them they were. And yet, we can see they/we are playing with a full throttle, in order to complete the initial game we all set out to play. A game that no one knows the results, but once they start playing, the results show the player what they are actually playing for. Oh sure, disappointment is playing too. The players know it is there, but they sometimes push it aside, in hopes to see that it never surfaces in front of them. We see the endless loop it creates for an individual, yet, the participants don't. How do we proceed to have a winner in a game that is not controlled by us? Easy, we guide the game to our liking. We know the plays ahead of time, in order to steer and stay a course we create. We know that there aren't any established rules -- so why not allow us to create the rules?
It seems kind of sad and lonely--the "I", the God, is only one. It divides and creates many little lives, but in the end, all of the separate lives are really just one....the one singularity, that desperately wants to know "other". Each one of us is the fabric and structure of existence itself, and it all amounts to that one great thing....one lonely, great thing that must divide itself and forget itself, in order not to feel so alone.

A good way to start is to just write what you feel, think, or just whatever comes out.
@@sinky187 There are simply no words to express how much your words have made my inner world shake and resonate . I'm being completely honest.
Then I ask the world , which you're included in it , " Why should I still be playing the game?
" Wouldn't it be better if I just leave it all behind and just go somewhere else give love to everything and live outside of the game as possible? "
Isn't this why the old sages just went to a mountain by themselves, to just get out of the game , this made up society, this fake scheme of things? which is obviously a huge matrix and concepts all made up ?
Ich liebe ihn, Alan Watts, einer der besten Bewusstseinslehrer und Erklärer....
Absolut. ❤
Alan Watts is a Legend, We are all one, and many all at the same time. We are also at one with the cosmos, and with all those who live in the cosmos. As Alan said I am the fabric of everything. I am everything!
It's so simple yet so many people miss it.
Too many people buy into the “Not Of This World” nonsense, and that mentality then destroys their entire view on life, and all beauty!
When they say “NOTW”, they are discrediting everything they claim to believe in, starting with God, the creator of the universe.
@@dark-cn9yq Hey there dark 69’r, how you doin? Just because we quote “scripture”, it does not mean we necessarily believe it. It is however, more affective in getting a point across to those that still believe the holy Bible is the inspired word of God.
Nobody made you read these comments, and nobody is pushing anything on you. You need to realize that “demons” only exist in the mind of those who fear them.
Speak for yourself.
@@dark-cn9yq projection. Prove there is no God and you might deserve the life you have. We're waiting.
@@Aid-kd5nx Religion is made by man that's for sure. But Christian means "follower of Christ" it means you follow and obeying Jesus. Catholicism is the definition of religion. They follow Popes and priests and fathers and go to church once a week believing it will get them into heaven but every other day of the week. It's like they don't even care.
"The paper in our system is more valuable than the wealth. " . Let that sink in . Easily the most profound words I've ever heard in my life. Western civilization in one sentence.
AMAZING!!! Thank you… so resonated with me and many others , I am sure💜💜
I can tell you put so much effort and passion into making this video. It definitely shows!
Valeu!
Outstanding! Bravo Mr. Watts
Really Excellent Video! … The essence of Alan Watts 😁
You are very unique.
Just like everyone else.
thank you for making these!
Thank you!
Deep deep deep...💜 Lovely, uplifting...🙏
Could you share the name of the soundtrack at the very end? The one listed during the credits at 10:25 is a different one. Thanks
Awesome speech. Thanks for this great compilation.
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙏🔥
His words alone can awaken those who are sleeping. No need for a mountain top hermit mode. Just listen to his wisdom and you can feel the truth resonate and Soul knows.
The most soothing kindest voice I've never heard ... My busybee mind calms on the pillow as he lulls me into wakefulness!
PS- Competing for Pillow Talk is Terrance McKenna with his sing-song voice lullabying me into jungles of deep cellular memory.
"The truth is like a lion. You don't have to defend it. Let it loose and it will defend itself."
--Augustine of Hippo
I'm always happiest in the natural environment, amongst the trees, under the stars, away from society. Don't know what that says about me. But it's what I know. What I feel. Can stare at the stars for hours. Watch an ant colony at work all day. The natural world is what I revere.
Understand exactly 💯
The physical world is designed to deceive. This is the game that We are playing even though most are blind to it. Discernment is key in a world of deception. We All must learn to discern to earn the burn ❤️🔥
Now that's motivation!
Powerfull. thanks!
Love him. Brilliant mind
Divine consciousness is the truth
Love it!!
"I am responsible for this life. Whether comedy or tragedy. I did it." I did not expect to find this core Existentialist message in this video.
2:10 - Fast-forward at least fifty years or more since he said this, and now it's more like $130 and there's quite literally hardly anything in the shopping cart.
Thank you ✌ 💜 ✌
Powerful.....❤
LEGEND ❤️❤️
Amazing reflections!
We feel the felt sense of fear before we learn to think. Our thoughts are just 1 trigger to this sense.
Another great video! Thank you!
Thank you 😊❤💝
Wow, powerful, thank you. I guess I need to hear this🌼
A lot has changed for the better. I gave this speech in 1981 because I knew I would want to remind myself in 2023.
If a mere actor can make you cry, what do you think I can do as the fabric of existence.
What can you do? to achieve harmony as a collective. In the here and now.
This was truly wonderful ❤
Whether comedy or tradgedy, I did it.
So profound. 😎🙏
thank you!!!
Amazing man
Awesome! Could you tell the name of the music during the last two minutes?
I love listening to Alan Watts - I wish it were without the dramatic background music.
Supper Brilliant. Magic starts at 4:37
Excellent!
Fearless and immortal.
The Profound Massage Of Wisdom!? Mental Yoga satisfyingly enlightening!?
Too many people buy into the “Not Of This World” nonsense, and that mentality then destroys their entire view on life, and all its beauty!
When ignorant people say “NOTW”, they are discrediting everything they claim to believe in, starting with God, the creator of the perfect & beautiful universe.
“And God saw that all creation was good” and very beautiful!
Its very hard to live it even if you understand it and work it every day.
That's why a spiritual practice like meditation helps to integrate teachings like these into your live
I love breathing in beautiful.
🙏🏻
Love You; other Me. 💕😘🎶🍻🙏🏻🍷🌹
Best start on some Content Ma'am; because I'm definitely Subscribing to You
Time to Wake-Up!
Sweet. Thanks.
'christian indoctrination'... or Watts was another victim of the deception from the most powerful created being in this universe, Lucifer.
My psychiatrist told me that I'm not playing the same game of life that everyone else is playing.
Had to watch this a couple of times.
Persona lly funny parts of realization, stark reminders and creation of new ideas and hidden dangers.
Things i knew , just a bit more refined and palatable.
I am responsible for this life? I just love that. Thank you who ever you are ;) I am happy. . ...
beauty !
As i am ❤
"I am responsible for my Life. I did it. " Changes everything.
Espantoso!
Obrigada.
What a legend!!!!
... On this subject, I recommend the song, put the lime in the coconut and drink it all up, by Harry Nilsson
I needed to watch this
The truth will set you free.
Love Watts. Don't consider myself the victim, but this does make me just wanna stay at home :)
WHERE IS THE OPTION TO TURN OFF THE MUSIC?
Lo❤e this does anyone have any other similar or Clips ?
⚘️Beautiful Truth⚘️
What lecture is this from ?
He helped me navigate my breakup in 2020 and the Pandemic.....❤❤❤❤❤
After speaking to many people, the pandemic caused a lot of them to end relationships for a myriad of reasons. Alan has helped me navigate through the break up, and helped me to be a better person.
Amazing talk about ourselves! 😅
eye opener
i taught this guy everything he knows ...old AL is jockin my style
I DID IT...I F only we all took full responsibility for our actions and inactions we would be unable harm one another physically and emotionally.. which is the game we play.
We are playing a game for sure, but why? Why is my consciousness aware? What’s the point?

The Games We All Play
I started in this Chase by playing in Forrest's fun house of puzzles, but do you also realize that I am also playing a "game" alongside yours. In fact, there are at least four games being played out:
- a game created for play by the originator of the game - but to be played by participants with an intended "known" outcome
- a game being played by the participants and resulting in being watched by the originator of the game as it is played out in unknown ways
- a person is playing the game for the creator's reasons, but seen being played from their own participant's perspective (multiple participants = possibly the same multiple perspectives = unknown variables)
- a person is playing the game for their own reasons, unknown to the originator of the game being played
...but yet, even still, there are the fifth and sixth reasons this game is being played, built into the game as well - which results in the "games" that will play out afterwards, as 'bi-products' of the original singular game.
In summary:
1. The creator's game with the intended / "planned" outcome
2. The player(s) playing the creator's game being watched by the creator - unknown variables are in play
3. The player playing, but from his/her perspective - controlled variables by the player(s)
4. The player(s) playing for reasons unknown to the creator - controlled variables by player(s) w/unknown results being watched by the creator
5. The projection and perception of the game by the creator, unknown to the player(s) - the intended reason for the game
6. The outcome of that projection or perception by the player(s) - how will it benefit the player(s) - their intended outcome
❤❤❤❤❤
It seems kind of sad and lonely--the "I", the God, is only one. It divides and creates many little lives, but in the end, all of the separate lives are really just one....the one singularity, that desperately wants to know "other". Each one of us is the fabric and structure of existence itself, and it all amounts to that one great thing....one lonely, great thing that must divide itself and forget itself, in order not to feel so alone.
