- I've recently found a VERY early release by Golden Book Video (and I have a reason to suspect that this might be one of the FIRST releases from the line). Specifically, it's the release "3 Favorite Golden Stories", which adapts... three Golden Books, specifically "Scuffy the Tugboat", "What Was That!", and "Theodore Mouse Goes to Sea".
They are definitely pretty interesting with how Western Publishing handled adopting them, basically just panning around the illustrations from the books and slapping on some animation here and there. It's a bit charming in some ways.
Oh, this is also the first release on my channel to use a new capture workflow I've spent a while working on called "FlagSynth III". Imaginative name, I know. The main differences compared to FlagSynth II is a new capture system which allows me to directly capture component video without using a component-to-HDMI adapter (in this case I use the ES15's component outputs), along with some changes to my AviSynth script. I think it overall looks really nice, although I might still make some tweaks to it.

Wake up Scuffy for it's only a dream.
I honestly like how golden book videos used more limited animation and ren and stimpy music rather than using disney esque animation
Not only does it help make the adaptations stand out but also add more charm to already charming stories
Who would've thought that golden books of all conpanies would be experimental with their animated adaptations
But hey vhs is also where anime gained traction
If nothing else we got golden book video killers out of it
I think I remembered that all 3 stories are to deal with being scared or afraid of something. It's important to deal with fears and talk about them with an adult.
I spent 25 years trying to remember the fever dream of owning this VHS. I started to wonder if I'd imagined the whole thing.

Another thing that Theodore Mouse should know is that the world is full of surprises.
I remembered that this first book was my father's favorite book along with Tootle.

I remember this video and I remembered that this first book is a golden book and it was by the same author and illustrator that wrote Tootle. I remembered that the last book was a golden book. But I remember the second book from when I was a little girl.
I Watched It When I Was 8 Years Old.
The Bear’s, the raccoon, spiders, and the antenna bugs are demons and have wide eyes when they are surprised in the dark and want to scare younger kids. The name should be given Bear Demons. I currently have this VHS cassette but this one is in slightly better condition than the one I have. The quality on this one is almost like the one I had as a kid.
I think Scuffy is a brave tugboat. Always remember Scuffy, there's nothing to fear but fear itself. That same advice is for Theodore Mouse.
My advice for the bear family in the next book is learn to face your fears and talk with someone you love and they will help you. But remember there's nothing to fear but fear itself.
Keep in mind that either this or the Poky Little Puppy one is probably the first Golden Book VHS release that's out there.
I’m assuming that this one is the first one or they both came out at the same time.
And then after that came Peter Rabbit & Other Tales with Amye Rosenberg, followed by The Gingerbread Man & Other Nursery Stories with Richard Scarry.
