- It's a pleasure to present to you an early Golden Book Video Classic, "Scuffy the Tugboat and Other Stories" (formerly released as "3 Favorite Stories"). This is one of the first ones ever produced!
This part features the cute story "Theodore Mouse Goes to Sea." Bored, Theodore seeks adventure on the high seas - and learns that life is full of wonders waiting to be discovered!

They don't make children's films like this any more - just so sweet and simple, and nothing vulgar or obnoxious. This is what I grew up with, and it's so much richer than what kids have today. I look forward to watching these with my kids someday. Thank you for posting this!
Was cleaning today and ran across a rather huge stack of "Little golden books".. from when my children were young.
I'm 59 years old...but I truly enjoy the memories packed in these sweet little books!
I didn't realize they made these cute films to go along with the book..super cool!!
I LOVE this book. Still have my copy to this day. I can remember asking my mom to read this to me every night hahaha XD

I think the narrator sounds like the late George Carlin aka Mr. Conductor from the USA version of Thomas The Tank Engine and Friends.
In the book, the bird was not named.
The name Beatrice might come from someone at Golden Book Video who was a fan Of actress Beatrice Arthur from both Maude and The Golden Girls.
Say, I remember reading the original book (like twenty years ago!)
Since that bumper at the beginning has a black background, I had to include "Retour En Enfance" as the last episode on my new French Ovide DVD (the start of that episode takes place at nighttime).

I agree with you. I think one of the Wild water rats was voiced by Carroll Spinney. It sucks though that these Golden book videos don't give the voiceover actors' names.

Just a random animation skit to keep kids from nodding off on the couch. I had another tape like this with that same skit as well.

I think they accidentally left out "Art Director: Lance Raichert" here. Just like in "The Little Red Hen" there was no "Written By: (Name)" in the credits either.
There was a "Written By: Michael Muntean", but you were right about "The Little Red Hen" because the Amye Rosenberg book does not have an author.
