I hope you find this Little Golden Book Journal tutorial helpful! I have tried to capture as much of the process as I can for you in a cohesive fashion.
Hope you found a little amusement in my banana sandwich lol. It's a delicacy that I've been enjoying since I was a wee one. I thought a little lighthearted fun was in order considering the big task ahead of us!

I don't think I've ever been so upset by a sandwich before 😂😂😂. I love peanut butter and banana on toasted bread as a sandwich. Also amazing with marshmallow fluff and chocolate. This thing with mayonnaise and soft bread is just... I can't even, hahaha. Anyway... This tutorial was great. Love that it was slow and in depth. Very easy to follow and super informative. Makes me feel like I can do one of these Little Golden Books as well. 👍🤗💜
Stevie!! I can't even tell you how loud I just laughed! Lmaoooooo!! You gotta try one! Haha! It's so friggin good!! I've been eating them since I was just a little thang! Ahh man I am rollin! 😂😂😂 I'm happy you enjoyed this tutorial... I wasn't sure if it was too indept and I was trying not to make more than one vid for it. I was able to edit down from almost 2 hours to 1 hour. Whew! Anyway I hope you give it a try..... The book that is......... Orrrrrr the sandwich 🥪 😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️😋😋😋

I just bought six of these books within the last couple weeks. I was desperately trying to find videos on constructing them into journals! I only found one from my favorite youtuber then bam your video comes along! I've deconstruct my books and started gathering my papers but I was at a loss about how to go about building the spine as I do not have chipboard or muslin! Thank you for this!!!
Hey Sierra! Yeah for sure! Thank you so much for swinging by to watch. Also, if you don't have chipboard you can take a box from food packages and glue like 2-3 pieces together and you will have a strong enough spine! Hope this helps! ❤️ XoXo

These are so cute! Great tutorial. I remember reading LGB as a kid and loving them- that tells you how old they are!🤣🤣

Wow April, love this LGB JJ...beautiful papers and lovely illustrations, coming together so well. I always wondered how easy it is to do the buttons as I only use the 3 hole stitch...5 is the way to go I see, plus gives a nicer finish. Binding is my least favourite part of making journals. REally appreciate you sharing your process. xox

Fell in love with your books & the lovely paper pad that Crafty Irina Blessed you with. Searched and could not find that paper pad anywhere (may try and get the Best of K and Company--if one with Susan Winget Designs). Really wanted the My Little Golden Book About God. Went to a Thrift Shop this morning and then found a copy at our Salvation Army Store. Thrilled to know that it was waiting there for me. :) Love your style! Aloha & Mahalo for sharing with us.

I absolutely loved this! I have been wanting to try making a journal with the Little Golden Books but have not tried it yet. I think I will now have to try, and with the buttons. The video made sense and was not confusing to me at all. I loved, loved, loved the finished product! As far as the sandwich goes...I would be willing to try it. After all, I love chocolate chip pancakes with butter, syrup (not too much), and a side of sour cream (to cut the sweetness)...yum! :)

I may try that one day, but that’s definitely different bananas and mayo sandwich wow. I’ve got one for you. Scramble two eggs and as you cook them slice up bananas in it put a little bit of Himalayan salt in it cook it scramble it up altogether. Don’t let it burn on your plate and eat it and it is so delicious. Oh my God you’ll love it.

Never had banana and mayo, grew up with banana and peanut butter. I have to laugh whenever I watch a left handed crafter because with the cameras perspective it’s like I am doing the crafting and I know I can’t cut a straight line with my left hand so I start feeling a little stressed because I’m concentrating so hard on what “I’m” doing!

I picked up some of these books to have on hand when I am ready to make one. I think you did an excellent tutorial. You were very clear about everything as you went along. I am very new to junk journaling and your tutorial was very easy to understand. I can not wait to make my first journal. I love the buttons on the spine.! I do have one question. Hi PinkOddBird, it's your fellow bird here, I was wondering what the burnishing is for on the making of the spine? Is it to adhere the tape to the paper? Hope you have a good day! Cheers 👻🐦🦆🐥p.s could you make a thinner spine if you didn't want to make such a thick book?
Yes! You are exactly right! It's just to make sure everything gets connected really well - paper/fabric to adhesive. And yes absolutely! You can make the spine as small as you may wish! What did you use as the template to make holes? And what tool did you use to actually poke the holes?
