I’m only 15 minutes into this video and I can already tell you it is by far the best tutorial that I have seen on making a Little Golden Book junk journal! Thank you so much for taking the time to make such a detailed video! 🤍
You do a great job teaching. Your explanations are so clear, and you are organized well so our time isn't wasted while you look for stuff. I appreciate your style...."liked/subscribed"! 😊
I have been trying for months ,hour and hours trying to alter a gokden book..one day and my bookbis done .your video is amazing. Thank you so much 50 more books to go
Thank you keeping the golden foil on the book. That is what keeps it true to being a little golden book! My first time watching you but will not be my last❤
Enjoyed this tutorial so much. Never really was a fan of junk journals but after watching this I think I need to make one! Very clear instruction. Thanks Kim!
Thanks for this very clear tutorial! I have made many junk journals but until now never used a Golden Book as a basis. I think I've hesitated because it's hard to take them apart with the staples and I didn't want to cut up part of the cover. I really appreciate your approach and the very clear instructions you provide. I'm trying it out tonight with a Golden Book I picked up the thrift store. Wish me luck!
Thanks for this Kim! I recently made 4 Disney Golden scrapbooks for my grandkids and their cousins to commenerate our trip to Disney. I will have to try your way of saving the golden spine. Mine wasn't as pretty, but I still had a bit of gold on the front and back covers 😀
I would put an 1/8” strip of card board or book board down the center of the spine to reinforce it. It could be glued in so you don’t have the weak spot that’s only the paper outside of the spine.
Kim I am relatively new at junk journaling but I want so badly to alter a LGB. I have watched numerous tutorials and until now have not been happy with any other videos. You are a marvelous teacher with such an attention to detail. You are very easy to understand and I am so happy that you save your gold spine. I will now start my journal with you to show me how. Thank you so much Kim. I have subscribed and look forward to watching your videos. BTW, where do you get the thread that you use for the spine? Just one more thing, What kind of needle are you using and is it a blunt point? Many thanks.
I want to do this and have started a few. My question is about the older books with delicate old pages. What do you do to protect the pages from tears?
@@KimKantStopKrafting I don't know, I don't see many LGBook crafters working with the really old books. I don't think Mod Podge is what I am looking for. I want something that will protect the edges as well as tears into the page and fill small missing pieces.
@@susyfranklin4597 That’s tricky. When you decorate, can you just make sure you cover those areas with something? For example, glue a lace trim on the edge and if there is a tear in the center of the paper, put some ephemera there. I’ll be curious to see what you come up with.❤️
Love the fact that you are able to keep that gold strip.

This is a fabulous video - thank you for sharing the types of materials that you used to reinforce the spine and showing the entire process.

Thank you so much. Great video. I am going to try it this way, because I love the fact you are not cutting off the gold off.

I’m sure they turned out wonderfully.
I found an older Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer book, totally doing this. Thank you!

Yes, good idea. I do it that way now after seeing some other people do it that way. Thanks for watching. 😊
Loved how well you explained making this journal. Turned out great, reallly cute book. Thanks so much!❤

Terrific
Thank you😀
That’s so cute! Thank you so much!
Thank you!
Very clear instructions. Thank you. Can you do a video of the complete journal journal?
Thank you! Do you mean a walkthrough if the final project?
Yes.
I didn’t finish the rabbit example. I just have the Christmas one. ruclips.net/video/LbfWL2O8qt0/видео.html
If you use a blow dryer you can remove the gold band and remove the staples. Then you can reapply the gold bands again.😂
What did you use for the inside of the spine?
Just use a het gun on the gold strip, it melts the glue and it peeps right off. Then the stapes are visible and you take them out.
Good suggestion!
Great tutorial…where can I get those tiny clips(cannot find them)thanks
Sewing clips from Amazon

How wide is that score tape you're using? Are you using three strips side-by-side over the cardstock?
Yes, I used 1” and put 3 side by side.
Darling. Thank you for the tutorial. Where did you get your silky ribbon like thread ? Does this thread have a do dial name?😅
I think I forgot to respond. Sorry. I bought it in a YT destash. I’m not sure where it is from.
You made this look easy, which I know from experience isn't!
Your comment made me laugh. You got this!
If u have three signatures where do u put all three of them?
@@carolredding5349 you would need to add another row of holes, but they would need to be closer together.
What are score sheets and where do u get them?
Double-sided adhesive 8.5 x 11 sheets from Country Craft Creations

Maybe you could do a very light coat of matte Mod Podge on the edges.

Countrycraftcreations.com
I'm new here ..can You please repeat the material for thecspine u usted please?
Artisan cardstock- it’s a linen based cardstock that doesn’t crack. Sold only at countrycraftcreations.com
I don't care for the way you do your spine you have to cut the pages down to fit in the book
You do it the way you like. This works for me.
I like her method. It preserves the book well.
