I own the ST1 with over 600 miles on it. I note that Velotric, as you mentioned, listened to its customers and made changes to the bike that clearly improved it. I added my adjustable handlebar stem for a more upright position, pedals, and lower pressure 700x40 Pirelli tires with a more aggressive tread. I also added better pedals, the bar-end mirror, a Twopeak rack, and a Suntour suspension seatpost. I also own a Trek Bosch-powered relatively noisy mid-drive CX motor (85nm), but frankly, the ST1 is my favorite and even though it only has 45nm of torque, it handles the hills where I live. Last week, I rode 31 miles with the range extender and still had three dots (bars) left on the battery. For me, it is not worth it to upgrade. I have modified the bike to my liking and unless they come out with a carbon fiber/mid-drive version, I am sticking with what I have. In my view, for the money, you cannot beat the ST1 or the Plus version. ENJOY!
Really is my favorite ebike too and I've had very powerful ebikes before. This bike is just so light and so pure and no range anxiety because you can just pedal it normally without any power.

thanks for the review, Scott. My husband I I just purchased 2 T1 ST Plus & your reviewed assisted us with some of the questions we had on it-thanks again. Get video!
Love the video on this bike. Selling my road bike since I’m recovering from prostate cancer and need to sit more upright. I appreciate all the information provided and will be purchasing this bike. Thanks again
A great review once again Scott. This bike is my #1 choice for a hybrid style ebike. Thank you for doing such an exhaustive review. It seems like the changes made to the plus are all very good ones. ✌️
@@scotthardesty They seem like it. Especially this one. Sorry to hear about you getting the little c. It can certainly rob you of your energy for quite some time. Combined with the heat and humidity.... Ouch!!! Keep up the good work brother. ✌️
Thanks for the great video Scott! All the information was very helpful for anyone looking to buy an E bike. I have been looking at E bikes and really liked this one. We have decided to get a couple of these and can't wait to get them! They have a great sale going on now and saved an extra $250 since we bought 2.
Can you completely remove the rear wheel from the frame? Is there a convenient connector on the wire harness hear the hub? Ride1Up CF Racer1 rear wheel cannot be removed from the rear triangle, is always tethered via the cable making tire or tube changes difficult.
My only hang up on what appears to be a great bike is that the battery is not removable. I live in downstate Illinois so just like Chicago it gets hot/humid in summer and really cold in winter. While not impossible, it’s impractical to bring the entire bike into the house so you’re not subjecting the lithium battery to temp extremes that can degrade the cells. Add that on the next update and I’m a for sure buyer.
I understand. Since I have multiple bikes, I use a fat tire bike more in the winter and this bike will be stored in a temp controlled storage unit. Before I had that, I had my T1st hanging up on my wall in my office.
I use Strava, too, and have also come to learn that your bike's odometer/ tracking is a lot more accurate when it comes to distance. While I like Strava, it can be glitchy & miss stretches of your rides frequently.
Thank you....this is an Amazing review. I have been researching the T1 ST Plus and watched most of the Reviews. Yours is the most detailed and informative. I plan to purchase one as soon as I get home. i really do appreciate your time, effort and details. I agree, we should be able to change power levels without stopping. It make no sense. Peace, Phil R
Thanks Phil! I try to answer all the questions I would have if I was researching a bike. I did find out recently, that you can change the boost on the app while riding. I am not a fan of riding with my phone on the handlebars so I won't be doing that. I have also put 100 miles on this bike and I haven't had to take it out of trail once.
I keep most of my bikes in a climate controlled storage facility. If not, this bike would be inside the house where it's warm. That Discover 2 is a great bike!
I like the red color, hydraulic brakes, and how the top bar goes down at an angle to the seat, while keeping the larger diameter wheels. Good looking bike. - plus, it made it up Scott's hill of pain. Nice.
What an informative review! My husband and I picked up our T1ST+ bikes yesterday and your video was so helpful in how to use all their features. I downloaded the app and now that our ride is over I'm not sure what to do to save it. It says share or sync.
I am guessing sync. I do not use the app to rack my rides, just to make adjustments to the bike. I use apps like Strava as I find it to be much more accurate and not glitchy.
I've watched a view reviews of this bike and yours is the best. I bought a Denago Commute for commuting to work and now I've been bitten by the ebike bug and want something a little more nimble for beach rides and whatnot. At 6'4" would the large be too small for me?
Thanks @scotthardesty. Another great review!! I just got my T1ST a few months ago, but man do I wish I waited. Just having access to a real battery meter is so worth it!!! Gonna have to do some soul searching to see if can find a way to upgrade to the plus!!! Looking forward to your tests of the extended battery…. Debating if that is worth it!! Happy riding!!!
Nice upgrades, the adjustable stem is a simple but very helpful improvement. However, the 15 levels of power assist is overkill to the point of being useless, especially on a bike that has 8 speeds gearing. That said, the T1 continues to shine as a very light weight, capable, reasonably priced ebike. No doubt in my mind that it is one of the best "mild" ebikes out there. In my light weight ebike search 4 months ago I came down to the T1ST & Propella 9s V2. Both bikes rode very nice and it was hard to choose between them. In the end I chose the Propella even though it was 6 lbs heavier ( but with the battery removed, for loading the bike, the C9 is within 2 lbs of the T1). For me the larger tires, easily removable battery, adjustable stem, local service (live in Seattle, 12 miles from Propella headquarters) plus the ride that made the difference for me. When I compared them on a test ride the Propella just rolled faster, had no motor resistance, and overall the shifting & ride were subtly smoother than the T1. I did upgrade my Propella with a Kinect suspension seatpost & stem to make it even smoother on rough roads and gravel. After 250 miles including easy single track, I am still very satisfied with my versatile and comfortable Propella. No doubt that both the T1 + & C9 V2 are among the best light weight, affordable ebikes available today. I think you would do your viewers a great service to test the Propella C9 V2 and compare it with the T1
I appreciate the detailed review. With the adjustable handlebar stem on the T1ST Plus, is it comparable to riding something like a cruiser bike as far as upright riding position? My wife and I are looking for an eBike with an upright riding position. Thanks
What size frame is the Plus you tested? I have an 11 mile commute 1 way. Do you suggest the st plus or the T1 or the nomad 1. These are my top choices.
Did the torque sensor change from T1 ST to T1 ST Plus? I saw some complaints that the original T1 ST used a single sided torque sensor (while the T1 used a double sided torque sensor) which made it jumpy
I feel like it has. I also had an issue with my Torque sensor at first but they replaced it. So far, I have not had the issues I had with the original T1ST.
@@scotthardesty Hey Scott, I would've definitely used your link, but I ended buying it at a nearby bike shop. I wanted a place to go if there's a problem with it. But thank you very much for your excellent videos.
I was torn between this option and the Pace 500.3. The lightweight design of the Velotric is appealing, and the Pace 500.3's larger motor with throttle is a plus compared to the Velotric. Which of the two do you prefer?
I have reviewed both bikes. All I can say is... I still owned my T1st. It was my overall favorite but the Pace 500.3 is an EXCELLENT bike as well. I don't really consider the Pace a fitness bike like the T1ST. Plus the T1st is 20lbs lighter.
Great review. I snatched one of these ST Plus models up as soon as they were available and love it. I did a quick review as well, though I am not a professional content creator. I just wanted to get something out there right away that showcased the differences between the ST and the ST Plus for those researching this bike. I really preferred the ST for my intended use over the HT but needed a larger frame. The ST Plus came out just in time for my purchase and I was thrilled to be able to get the model I actually preferred in a size that suits me best. All the other upgrades are a bonus, and just shows that Velotric DOES listen to their customers as most if not all pain points I had heard from the ST are resolved in the ST Plus. My ST Plus did not come with the same saddle yours did, it looks more like the saddle from the original ST but without the Selle Royale branding, not a concern for me but it looks like Velotric may still be making some minor swaps between bikes going out the door in the first few weeks of launch. I also notice just a bit of play from the adjustable stem on mine even after matching torque recommendations, but not enough to be concerned. Once I find the best setting I may swap it for a traditional stem that matches the angle I prefer. The adjustable stem will definitely come in handy while I experiment with a few different bar configurations I have from previous builds. All in all this would be a great bike even if it had a higher price tag so the value is top notch. I also went with the lava color because I prefer high visibility colors in bikes I ride on roadways. Thanks for the review!
Nice review and a great looking bike. I was recently involved in an accident with a careless car driver and managed to crack my helmet. Lots of scrapes and bruises, and seven stitches in my arm, but the helmet definitely save me from head injury. Everyone be safe out there and make sure you wear a helmet!
My wife works in Brain Research. I have heard of some of the horror stories from not wearing a helmet! I never leave home with it. Thanks for watching and I am glad you are okay!
I like both of the models. The reason I didn't go for them is because of the colors. I wish they would have came out with a darker color. Oh well, I'll wait until they do.
Great video. I am looking at that plus model myself. I have to sell some toys first. The one I test rode, I loved the quiet ride, the motor was fantastic. We are almost the same ht and wt, so i think this will fit my needs. I am looking forward to range test with the extender. Get well first.
Good choice! I will be knocking out that video in the next couple of weeks. Still catching up reviews that stacked up while I was sick. Thanks for watching!
It's a nice bike for those that want a bike without a throttle. My only concern is ,it doesn't have a removal battery. If the battery becomes defective or wears out prematurely, are you just stuck with an acoustic bike? Would you have to cut into the tube to get to battery? I have noticed some portable radios, now being made, with sealed, non removable batteries. I guess when the battery dies it becomes a throw away electronic. Sad if it was still usable and only needed a new battery. Well at least with the ebike it can still be used as a regular bike but it would be a shame if the motor and electronics were still in good working order. BTW..Thanks for the thorough review.
There is a panel in the bottom of the frame. You can remove the battery that way and replace it. It's just not something convenient that would make you want to take it out often.
Great question. It all depends if you want a throttle or not. Although, the Soltera.2 is limited to 25mph as well. Basically, those are the 2 main differences.
I appreciate the review. I haven't seen any of the new version here. I am a bit disappointment they changed to gravel like tires though. This is really a city bike. I wish they kept the smooth pavement tires personally. I do really like the bar adjustment though.
Nice review. I like the ebike overall but too bad they couldn't manage to use a higher voltage battery and stronger motor as opposed to just 32V, with 350W & 40nm motor, and 9+ ah battery... Good bike for riders that want to do the large majority of the work for the ebike.
That’s a perfect bike for city street riding. Thanks for the review! ( Wanted you to know that RUclips keeps dropping my subscription to your channel, this happened twice. Wonder if that happened to anyone else)
Good review. Very impressive lightweight and versatile e-bike. Has great potential in a lot of situations, not too expensive and could easily be mistaken for a conventional bike. I would love to win the Helmut, by the way.
Scott, thank you so much for a very informative and inspiring review. I was not interested in an e-Bike until now. The fact that it acts like a normal road bike without power is a major plus. I’ll see if they have any offers for Labor Day. I’m excited. ☮️🙏Phil R
Great review Scott! I owned a D1 and stupidly sold it. I missed that bike so much, I just purchased a T1ST Plus and am so excited to get it. Your review has me convinced that I’ve made the right choice. Would you recommend a suspension seat post or are the springs in the seat enough cushion?
Normally, I would put a suspension seat post on this bike but I like the rear tail light. The wire that gives that light power is routed thru the seat post. If you put on a suspension seat post, it looks like you will have to remove the tail light.
Scott, as usual excellent review. Makes me considered trading in my beloved T1-Thunder. Based on your review I bought the D2 and love it. BUT...My T1- series is my favorite. Hate to give it up. Maybe I can convince my daughter-in-law to buy my Thunder, and I'll buy the T1ST. 😃
Thank you, that was an excellent review. I have an T1 ST and I've been wondering what the difference would be... you provided that information. Do you know if the app is only for iPhone (I know the app for the T1 was iPhone only). Totally agree, they need to change the software so one can chance modes without having to come to a complete stop. Once again, thanks.
I did see that you can change the modes in the app while riding. I found that after someone asked that question. To my understanding, the app works on IOS or android. Only iphone users can use the FindMy feature.
Great review. I came here hoping for a comprehensive review of all aspects of the bike and the improvements over the original, but specifically for the range test. My current e-bike only gets 22'ish miles without the available external battery. This bike is on my short list for my next endeavor. Most of the things on the bike are personal preference except for not being able to switch modes on the fly, which is a minor inconvenience at most. Thank you for being thorough. Plus you were riding through my hometown of Chicago on LSD nonetheless!!
I did find out that you can switch the modes thru the app. I don't like to ride around with my phone on the handlebars so I missed that part. I am glad I was able to give you the info you were looking for.
There is a panel in the bottom of the frame. You can remove the battery that way and replace it. It's just not something convenient that would make you want to take it out often.
@@scotthardesty that helps thanks for the real world estimate ! the prior ST medium was a little too small so I'm glad Velotric added the L...website doesnt have the wheelbase listed do you happen to know the dimension for the L?
@@scotthardesty I went to my local bike shop and saw two used T1s. The salesman said that T1 owners traded "down" to the T1ST Plus. It absolutely makes sense.
Bought a T1 a few days before velotric upgraded the T1ST on their site cause of sizes available. Nice upgrades on the T1ST plus! Edit: The velotric app is buggy. It doesnt track at all tbh (Ive put at least 400mi). There is multiple times where I have to forget the bike in bluetooth setting to connect again to use the app again. The ebike is fine, the app is trash.
I have found that out as well. I never use the velotric app to track my ride or anything. I only use them to adjust settings on the bike. I totally agree with you.
I've thought about it. Since I have reviewed them both, I feel my T1ST plus rides better but the Soltera 2 has a throttle. If someone wanted a bike like this with a throttle, I would suggest they get the Soltera 2. If a throttle is not a deal breaker, I would recommend this bike everytime.
My first review with the T1ST was the sand color. I think most of us like a bike that is more visible around traffic. About the distance. I am guessing because of the bigger chainring and the freewheel might be different as well.
That depends on what you are looking for in an ebike. I was riding this bike today running errands. What I like about this bike is that it is a great fitness bike as well. I don't miss not having a throttle on this bike. Heavier bikes I would definitely want a throttle.
If something goes wrong with the battery it can be removed and replaced, but I like how the battery is totally hidden in this bike and not removable. Thanks for watching!

All in all this would be a great bike even if it had a higher price tag so the value is top notch. I also went with the lava color because I prefer high visibility colors in bikes I ride on roadways. Thanks for the review!
Thank you for your feedback!
Excellent review, thank you for your efforts!
Much appreciated!
Thanks for the comprehensive review.
Thanks for watching!
I like both of the models. The reason I didn't go for them is because of the colors. I wish they would have came out with a darker color. Oh well, I'll wait until they do.
Maybe with the T1st Plus Plus. hahaha
Can the helmet hold a tinted face sheid??😊
Not sure. I know on their website they have tinted goggles that go with the helmet.
@@scotthardesty I saw one of your videos had a Ranger Tab shirt. I was in 2/75 back in 1975, 76,77. Ranger School 3-77
The battery is not conveniently removable, but can be replaced through a screwed-on panel near the crankset.
There is a panel in the bottom of the frame. You can remove the battery that way and replace it. It's just not something convenient that would make you want to take it out often.
thinking about getting the soltera 2 or this one, what do you think is better?
Great question. It all depends if you want a throttle or not. Although, the Soltera.2 is limited to 25mph as well. Basically, those are the 2 main differences.
Great review, the most thorough I have seen👍
Thank you! I do this will all the bikes I review. Thanks for watching!
Hey Scott. I've always wondered how you measure the stopping distance. Are you measuring it in post via the video footage?
If you look on the ground, you will see that I have a 30ft tape measure down there helping me figure out the distance.
@@scotthardesty Awesome. Never noticed the tape measure before.
I appreciate the review. I haven't seen any of the new version here. I am a bit disappointment they changed to gravel like tires though. This is really a city bike. I wish they kept the smooth pavement tires personally. I do really like the bar adjustment though.
The tires I had on the original T1ST is what I put on there. They had the same tires normally.
Nice review. I like the ebike overall but too bad they couldn't manage to use a higher voltage battery and stronger motor as opposed to just 32V, with 350W & 40nm motor, and 9+ ah battery... Good bike for riders that want to do the large majority of the work for the ebike.
Velotric markets it as a Fitness bike. So it makes sense.
Hi Scott. Was nice meeting you today. See you around.
It was nice meeting you too! Hit me up DM if you want to hit some mtb trails on my Ramblas's.
Great video! Love this bike!
Me too!
That’s a perfect bike for city street riding. Thanks for the review! ( Wanted you to know that RUclips keeps dropping my subscription to your channel, this happened twice. Wonder if that happened to anyone else)
This is now my everyday bike for running around the city. I hope your sub sticks this time!
thanks for the review. I think the bike would be perfect if it could change ride modes on the fly and had hydraulic forks.
You can put hydraulic forks on it. I also learned that you can change them on the fly is you use the app to do it.
Good review. Very impressive lightweight and versatile e-bike. Has great potential in a lot of situations, not too expensive and could easily be mistaken for a conventional bike. I would love to win the Helmut, by the way.
I agree with everything you said about the bike. Good luck on winning! I use a random comment generator that will pick the winner.
Scott, thank you so much for a very informative and inspiring review. I was not interested in an e-Bike until now. The fact that it acts like a normal road bike without power is a major plus. I’ll see if they have any offers for Labor Day. I’m excited.
☮️🙏Phil R
Thanks for watching!
Looks like a great bike! Will likely pick one up
Good choice!
Hi Kim. You won the Dotphy Defender One helmet. Here is the video of me announcing the winners. ruclips.net/video/LcHJPbEMnaE/видео.html
I understand the struggle. hahaha
Love the color of this lava version. I also think the helmet looks great.
I think so too!
Very nice review, Scott. I like your style. Big question with this bike is, when the battery finally dies, how can it be replaced?
There is a panel in the bottom of the frame. You can remove the battery that way and replace it. It's just not something convenient that would make you want to take it out often.
Great content Scott! Keep up the great work.
Thanks! Will do!
great video and comments!...what additional range do you expect the range extender to provide
Not sure yet. Maybe 15 miles? I have no clue actually.
@@scotthardesty that helps thanks for the real world estimate ! the prior ST medium was a little too small so I'm glad Velotric added the L...website doesnt have the wheelbase listed do you happen to know the dimension for the L?
Real curious how this one compares to the Soltera.2, they seem to be the best options between $1000-1500
That might be an upcoming video. The big difference that jumps out to me is the fact that the Soltera 2 has a throttle.
I am convinced that it would be worthwhile to upgrade from my Thunder 1ST to the T1ST Plus.
I totally understand. I will be putting my T1st up for sale now that I have Plus model.
@@scotthardesty I went to my local bike shop and saw two used T1s. The salesman said that T1 owners traded "down" to the T1ST Plus. It absolutely makes sense.
Great bike! Great helmet! Really interested in this bike and the aventon solterra 2
Great idea for a comparison video.
I am saving up my money to purchase this e-bike and would love a helmet. Thank you for the review. I’m sold.
I hope you are able to get it soon.
Great review! I would suggest using the term “toggle” instead of bounce.
Yup, that is definitely the correct term. Maybe next time.
@@scotthardesty looking forward to hearing “toggle” in your future vids😂
This bike now goes on the shortlist. I'd like to see a comparison with the Aventon Soltera.2
Will use your discount again , thanks
I appreciate that!
Everybody shows the orange but, IMHO THE sand is much nicer. Also how did it magically go from 52 to 70 mile range . Same wh.
My first review with the T1ST was the sand color. I think most of us like a bike that is more visible around traffic. About the distance. I am guessing because of the bigger chainring and the freewheel might be different as well.
What size tires were you running on original model?
I put 700x50 on it. amzn.to/3ATqxKA
Great review as always. Thanks.
Thank you!
How would this bike do on the Katy Trail in Missouri?
I have no idea. I have never been to that trail.
I just ordered mine, thanks
Hope you enjoy it!
Do you know if its the same torque sensor as the original bike?
I had an issue with the torque sensor on my original T1st. This torque sensor feels different... better.
Great review Scott. Like the helmet
Right on!
Awesome review like always!!!
Thank you!
no shocks in front or back? sounds jaring
Something about this "stiffie" I just dig. Is it as smooth as others? NO! But it is a blast to ride? Yes!
I rarely use a throttle. But i would like that bike more with a throttle
The only time I miss it is when I have it in too high of gear after a stop.
Nice, one of the best chinesium peddlers
I believe this is the nicest insult I have received. Thanks?
Would be my first bike. So is no throttle control good or bad?
That depends on what you are looking for in an ebike. I was riding this bike today running errands. What I like about this bike is that it is a great fitness bike as well. I don't miss not having a throttle on this bike. Heavier bikes I would definitely want a throttle.
Nice safety color paint for a commuter bike .
That's why I choose it over the sand color.
Need a step through or stagger version
This is their step thru (ST) version of this bike, but I totally understand what you mean.
As always, great review! I love Velotric. I bought my wife the Discover 2.
The Discover 2 is my #1 commuter bike. Great Choice!
@scotthardesty we both watched your video on it and she was sold👍
Wow a nice guy from Chicago...who knew?
Depends on the day. hahaha
Excellent review. Your channel tests my marriage, I have 3 bikes now I want 4. Cool helmet
hahahaha. I apologize. hahahaha
What size tires on the bike?
@TIMMIE1919 they are KENDA 700x40c Ebike puncture resistant tires
Yeah, what Velotric said. hahaha
Well 40 c tires are too skinny for my taste.
I put 50c tires on my T1ST and plan to do the same to this one.
I wish they could ship it to Vancouver, BC, Canada 😢
Oh man, sorry to hear that they don't.
I wish Velotric shipped to Australia or had a distributor here
That would be awesome. I bet they would have a big market out there.
@@scotthardesty they would sell lots of bikes I believe
Did your affiliate code expire? It’s not working.
during the black friday sale, the normal codes don't work. SCOTT20 will save you on the current black friday sales.
I want the helmet! Just bought a T1 ST Plus too
I will be pulling the winner from a random generator. Good luck!
Well, looks like I may have to buy another Velotric ebike! Now, about that helmet....
hahaha. Good luck! I will be using a random comment generator to pick the winner.
non-removable battery kills it.
If something goes wrong with the battery it can be removed and replaced, but I like how the battery is totally hidden in this bike and not removable. Thanks for watching!
