43 years of skating takes a toll on your memory so I'll just use the most recent: Ran into Chris Miller at the Cardiff 7-11 gas pumps a couple of weeks ago, hadn't seen him since the 2003 ASR trade show but he's still as cool as ever. Kinda funny when a 50 year old dude like me is still geeking out on his favorite skaters (who are also 50 years old, fuck time flies).
Lance Moutain is such a great guy ! Not only did he pave the way for the world of skating - he’s is also one of the greatest guys in the world . Thank you Lance for all the good laughs and great skate boarding 🙏
This two parter was one of the best. You can feel Lance’s excitement at getting to meet and interview and THANK one of his skating idols growing up. Very few of us ever get to do that - or by the time you think about it or carve out the time to do it, it’s too late. Just so awesome to watch Lance fanboy at Darrel’s memories. He’s truly no different than any of us, and how cool to give these legends’ legends their props in such a meaningful way. Just so fucking awesome. Thank you for sharing this with us!
This is pure. As a skater of the mid 80's I wondered how these guys got their tricks. Everything comes from something. It's awesome that Lance took the time to pay homage and share with everyone the guys that influenced him.
"there was everything before us"...amen... ...brother(s), Detroit sends love and respect...always look forward to the Love Letters, but these past two episodes have been exceedingly excellent--so grateful for the history...could sit and listen to the forefathers talk about who did what when, and how, all day...thank-you!
Episodes on tracking down more skaters of the era Lance is doing would produce some great content. Also... get some of these guys to dig through those storage units for stories of gear. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I have boxes of Skateboarder magazines in my garage.
It would be really cool if you guys did a small series of Love Letters the parks past. Or even like a love note. A series on like Winchester, Colton, Reseda, Lakewood, Campbell Etc. Most everything at the kids see is new or it's Upland and Delmar. So much history there. I'm 53 I was there and people would be stoked I think to see how it was.
