    Oh man absolutely! I used to love BMXing to music, as kids in the 80's my friend's Dad built a huge ramp, it was so heavy and we would roll it out on the road, put out tape player (lol yeh tape player) and BMX all day long freestyle, every time a car came past we had to move the ramp, dude great times!! My hats off to all you guys out there doing it today, whether skate boarding, BMX, Surf, keep rocking your boards and the music! Also I'm thinking of building an 80's freestyle bike, man can't wait to start project, all the best! Live the Passion!

    • @SixStair
      @SixStair 8 лет назад +4

      We agree 100%... but this episode was focussed on the idea of Skate Rock as it pertains to kids in the early 80's starting their own bands and being influenced to do that by skating. That wasn't really happening with rap- of course skaters have always listened to rap but not many skaters were influenced to start rapping (Jereme Rogers notwithstanding).

    watching this really reminds me of the age gap between Grosso and my generation (90s kid) cuz we got into skating through warped tour and THPS and the pop punk scene that cultivated outta the grunge and skate rock, and when we got a little older we went back and found a lot of the shit covered in this episode.
    A LOT of people kinda discredit shit like that cuz that's also when punk, and the skate subculture became commercialized...but like who gives a shit if Blink-182 is selling mccdonalds toys and on TRL and shit, it was still the outlet we found that allowed us to dig deeper and find The F.U.'s and Minor Threat.

    I think Pushead's Puszone in Thrasher was a huge influence.

    As Anton Newcombe said "when he saw Paul McCartney and the Beatles, there was nothing he could do to try and be like him because no one could be like them. But when he saw the punk movement, he knew he could be a better musician than these idiots." It was an endearing comment.

    From i was 7 years old,to 21-skateboarding was EVERYTHING to me(still is!),i mean,from the morning on i couldnt wait to the School was finished,started to ditch School as i grew older,and just skatined full Power all the time,and thinking of how to do that and that tricks,in the evening-it was a 24/7 thing to me-and because of that my knees got busted when i was about 20,still trying to skate...i found out i couldnt,cause it only got worse as my thighs got this inflammaroty chronis muscle cramps,which i still suffer from at age 43-i had to walk With crutches,to try to not get as painfully cramped up-and today,22 years later,i still cant walk more than a hour(tops!)a day,and i now have a cramp in my ass so i cant sit on it-and i still havent found anything out of interest to do,cause the feeling you get from SK8ING is so intense..)...So my life pretty much is to lay on the side of my body in bed,doing nothing-GREAT!
