The coil split on Keith's pickups are the best and most organic coil split tone ive heard. I've tried USA made PRS guitars with coil split that didn't sound as organic as KMs pickups. Fishman did a great job on those.
@@MetalHeadProductions No probs!. I'm quite versatile in my playing and when a pup is reviewed, always want to see how it sounds clean. A lot of shoot out vids don't have that. So yeah, no probs man!.
dl 7 Love the video! I actually had an opportunity to try the KM Fishmans for myself and they are not for me. For an extended range guitar I prefer brighter pickups like the moderns, and I found the KM7 fishmans to be very dark. I think I would like them better in a 6 string pickup. It was nice to see both in a frequency analyzer as it reassured me that I'm not crazy:) and again I loved the video man!
Great video man you always do great pickup reviews. Suggestion guys if you like the Keith Merrow set get them if you like the moderns honestly get the fishman abasi set you will be happier.
As someone who's tried both the moderns and the abasi's, 100% agreed. The Abasi's lack the mid range weirdness of the moderns and the 3 voicings all sound beautiful
Just got the Merrow Fishmans a few days ago. Best pickups I've ever had. I tried the moderns and they were great, but the Merrows were just a bit more versatile in sound.
I'm trying to decide between these two. What kind of guitar are you using? I'm having hard time deciding and for some reason I prefer the fluence moderns over the merrows in this video.
I'm having difficulties deciding between these two pickup sets. I really like the Voice 2 of the Modern Fluence but there's something in Merrow's set that I also like..
I want both! So they sound quite similar with different output levels that creates some variation. Modern voice 1 is the highest output followed by voice 2 and then the next step down is the KM voice 1 followed by voice 2. It's like the Keith Merrows are based on the passive voice of the moderns but with even less output. Very good demo! I'll probably have KM7 pickups in my next guitar as I already have the moderns in one of them!
Did you ever check out the Tosin Abasi ones ? I can hear the difference between these 2 the KM sound better I would like to hear the KM vs TA version of a video like this Thank you for making this video
How do the Keith metris set compare to the classic set? I had a classic set that came stock in a Ltd and while I liked all the voicings I wish voice two would could have been a little higher output.....couldn’t really Get a good “metal tone”. I currently have the Devin Townsend set and it’s a best of both worlds but there’s something about the merrow set that appeals to me
I don't have them but based on Merrow's tones on his newest records what they are exceedingly good at is providing an organic "metal crunch" while retaining clarity in chords.
Curious what the "low mid grunt" in Keith's set sounds like through a Dual Rectifier. Does the low end emphasis add to, or take away from and bloat, the Dual Recto rumble. Questions, questions.
Unfortunately I don't own either right now. I'd love to demo the Reyes and compare them to the classics, but I don't have the money to buy them, haha. If fishman wants to send them to me, I'd be happy to.
@@MetalHeadProductions do you have any clue how they sound? I've got an ibanez prestige 8 string that has always bad tone issues due to the pickup placement. Thinking a set of fishmans is about the only thing that could remedy it. Fishman doesn't post the eqs on their website which is annoying.
I havent owned the killswitch set so I havent been able to put in the kind of time I would like with them. Ive only gotten to try them for a while and a/b them against the standard modern set. they are a revoiced modern active type pickup. great sound, love the modern, but yeah, I prefer the merrows.
I've only gotten to try it at NAMM. The KSE is much closer to the Fluence Modern Set, but with a single coil option. The Keith Merrow set is a lot different from the Modern set. The merrow's are going to be lower output, and doesn't have an active setting.
Ok so I like lots of gain. Schecter solo II with bare knuckle ragnaroks and a schecter solo II with black winters and I love how those pickups sound but I want a 3rd guitar to fit in and can’t decide between the Fishman modern or the km. And oddly enough I’ve got an esp with aSeymour Duncan metal black out that I really like....I know i know, it’s like buying a boss metal zone pedal as a joke and falling in love with the tone. All of that through a 6505+

cool review and super useful. would you mind to make a link for just DI of both pickups?
I believe Ken Susi has links to di tracks with every Fishman fluence pickup. He links to them in some of the videos on the fishman page
