Started watching it as soon as it started... This one is interesting. My Mom said she delivered packages for the mob in Chicago when she was a young woman. She never looked inside the package and she didn't ask questions. She needed the money.
Wow
She was a bit of a moll. Respect!
Brave lady, but then if you really need to earn some money, you do things...but she didn't look inside the package, was just the delivery person, good for her
Yeah. This was back in the early to late 1940's. She told me back then there was no welfare so you either did tricks, stole food from vendors, or worked for the mob. Work was hard to come by. Her worst job was working in the blood pit in a slaughter house. The mob delivery job was easy money. She did work at a sewing factory. That was how she learned to sew and make clothes fast. She said it was horrible. Long 10-12 hr. Days with few breaks and no health care. So yeah people are spoiled today. Luckily unions spread across the country and provided protection for workers. My Dad was working at around age 10 after school. Summers he worked on harvesting on their farm. Again no unions when he was a young man. That did not come until the great depression when unions started to spread nation wide and the Wagner law was passed in 1935 signed into law by President Roosevelt. Which helped people like my Mom and Dad to eventually get at least basic benefits an restrictions on overworking people and allowing them breaks. And child labor laws so kids were not allowed to work in factories anymore. A number of children died or were severely injured in factories. My Dad did work in factories as a young man and on the railroad laying track. Very hard work. But in the 20's to 30's if you did not work you did not eat. So even though I hear a lot of whining about the economy and prices... It could be much worse... Just don't let us slide back to no unions and no workers rights. We don't want to go backwards to that time.
When I was growing up the mob was still very " active " ( 70s and 80s) I had several friends that their parents where involved..my parents didn't want me to be friends with them but of course we where all still friends and their parents where so nice and sweet...I actually dated 1 guy who's family was into the mob thick...we all where just kids and the parents where parents not business when it came to the kids...there was a killing ( several actually) but they went to kill a guy and he was actually waiting on them and he killed all of them who came for him...
My Grandfather was Lester’s best friend growing up and continued to be friends and “work” with him until his passing. If you would have gone a little further into that cemetery you would’ve run into his grave and my fathers as well.
My Grandfather was Jack Perkins.
Your grandfather was Jack parrkins!? 😮
This is the most interesting era in American history to me. I love the public enemy era. You may find it interesting I moved some of Homer Van Meter’s distant relatives to Tennessee a few months ago. Funny I knew more about the guys great uncle than he seemed to know. 😅
I’d love to hear more stories about Perkins and his endeavors. Not very much written about him other than his time as a race car driver and his dealings with Lester.
Thanks for sharing!
You’re exactly right Dalen, we have NO right or authority to judge anyone. Blessings. 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼
Y’all glorify and hold these thugs up on a pedestal 🙄
Dalen, I love it when you tell the story before the session. You have the perfect voice for storytelling. Much appreciated and love, love, love to you and yours. Thank you! Great shift.
Thanks for listening!!!
Agreed
Hi Dalen I hope you read thi.Hope you'll let me know if you read this if you're ever in Texas.
I live in Brookeland Texas It's a Very small town. There was a murder here long ago. And I never Solved the crime Also My sister was murdered. My brother's gone and my daddy's gone. If you happen to come To this area I hope you would come by this cemetery or even contact me and let me come with you. I would like to see what would happen
Unbeknownst to my brothers, sisters, and I, there was a family secret! Our cousins told us that our mother went out with Baby Faced Nelson. First off, my mother was a child when Nelson was committing crimes.secondly, my mother wouldn’t have gone out with a gangster. My mother has been gone for many years, and the last family member who would know has passed. My mom grew up on a farm in Door County, Wisconsin, and her mother was a Gillis. Her mother, my grandmother, was Nelson’s aunt. So, my cousins insist that my mom went out with a gangster. My mother was drop dead gorgeous, so I can believe that men would want to go out with her. But, she would never have been a gangster’s moll.
Dalen, this gangster series is very interesting. I appreciate the introductions with all the history, too. Amazing what you pick up on that machine of yours 👍👻
Much appreciated!!!
Dalen: What made Lester charming?
Helen: penis
I burst out laughing! She is a hoot!
This was a superb shift. Impressive responses from the family. They seem very personable indeed. I love the gangster shifts!!! ❤❤❤
I busted out laughing too
She had no shame! 😂
When I heard her say that, I'm like you go girl, hey she was honest and straight to the point.
@judytaylor4133 right! It went over Dalen head though lol.
That cracked me up 😆 Like dang girl, you got your in laws right there and everything LOL
Baton Rouge, Louisiana here, sending love, love, love to my shifter family!! 💙😘🥰💙
Really found this shift interesting, to hear Lester share his words which were clear in response to the questions asked, in regard to his mother, temptations of money and his life was one of the clearest shifts I think I have heard. Thank you Dalen, I have been part of the shift family since day one and you still capture me with your storytelling and evidence gathering 😊❤ x
Dalen, you have such a beautiful soul and character, and every video is a joy 💜
I love mob stories and you have the perfect capacity for narration. Your intro was great.
Thank you for what you do, it's greatly appreciated🙏
Wow, thank you!!!
Hello Dalen & The Shifter Family!

Hello Dalen and the Graveyard Shifter family ❤❤❤ Clocking in from Oregon
You are hoot. I laugh at almost every episode. Totally enjoy your shows. Keep up the great searches
Hi Dalen, I really appreciate you going to these places and hunting down the resting place of historical figures. I guess I never really thought about how many resting places are out there. This one looks well kept. Lester Gillis, I didn’t know that he was married. I hope he treated her well. Helen and Lester are together now. Baby Face Nelson is known for the way he killed anyone who annoyed him. Hair trigger temper. I’m not sure if he has any regrets about the people he killed. He apparently did care about his mother’s feelings. He said money led him to crime. He respected Dillinger. Some consequences after he died, I wonder what they were. His answers were on point. Helen still loves him. He said the money was never enough. They were kind (his parents).
That was an exceptionally cool shift. Thank you Fearless Leader, love and light ❤Brenda, Arkansas Shifter ❤

Clocking in. Love love love ❤️ 😍 ❤
Hitting the old time clock to punch in....brings n back memories. Hello and love, love ,love from grandma in Buffalo😍
I'm just like you, I've always been fascinated with the same era, well from the 1920's until the 40's the history is wild! I can't wait to see this!
Another awesome shift for sure! I have an idea: we are always asking the questions of the spirits. I wonder if they would ever want to ask us questions? Maybe you could approach them this way?
Hey! We ask them to ask us questions all the time.
Hey Dalen & the Shifters! Hope y’all are doing well and had a great day….
Back@ya

Clocking in from Arizona tonight. ❤❤ Love this one! I have always been fascinated by the thirties and these criminals. My mom grew up in the depression and she told great stories about it. It was hard times. Great interview with him. He really came through!
Clocked in and ready to ghost and go !!!
Hey everyone! Hope you are loving this one the same way I am! ✌️✌️✌️💚💚💚🙏🙏🙏
Hey y'all,clocking in from Byron,Ga
Dalen great story well prepared great spirit box session.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
Im a medium i deal with spirits daily but you have my respect for what you do ❤❤❤
More of these kinds of videos Dalen where u do the background research on the ppl. These are extremely useful also showing the names of the people in the graveyards and mausoleums. So helpful thank you 🙏🏽
I started watching the graveyard shift a few weeks ago. I really enjoy them. Have you thought about going out West and doing spirit box sessions with the cowboys of the Wild Wild West. There was a lot of bad men during that time.
Look at you reading my mind lol
That's really something .....just about every question is being answered.....they like conversation.
Clocked in and waiting for it to start. Watching the news for now... 😅
Hello Everyone ♥️♥️♥️ Don’t forget to hit the LIKE button 😊
His responses seemed direct and to the point. Admitted things a lot would not, and if he had to do it over he would have been different. So money was his sole drive. His mother said he was a disrespectful child so she knew he was a handful to manage. I wonder if he was living in a time without depression, poor economy and maybe had family money would that have been enough, or would he have found another reason to do some really bad things in the name of greed?
eMJae...Well, he was brutally honest with all his answers. You could always pick his voice out. Mild middle aged timber.
Daddy still seems a bit miffed by Lester, and momma seems like...well, I can sorta' hear her saying, 'Well, you know how rambunctious boys are.' I think he was a mommas boy. She let him slide a lot when he was growing up. Lol
I'd say his wife was dutiful and loyal at all costs, no matter what her opinions may have been or how horrified she may have been.
This was a great shift. Tons of answers and extra in the background that couldn't quite be made out. His voice was very distinct.
Man, I love this stuff. Very cool. Thanx Dalen for your time and efforts. Love, love, love
IT WILL BE B RUTAL ... HONEST
Clockin in from warm and sunny Florida

-- While I don't think that a spirit box can accurately pick up on what they used to sound like when they were alive, it sounds like, to me at least, that Lester has a light speaking voice with a thick 30's Chicago accent (I say this because rather than the typical "huh" I heard "Hah". Might be just me though). This voice was consistently answering Dalen's questions, and it seems like even in death, Lester's still kicking. Just ... He's with the fam now. Honestly, I like the different perspectives that Lester's parents gave. It's not very often that I've seen the souls of the parents lamenting on their child's acts, and to see the fact that Mr. and Mrs. Gillis didn't like what their boy did but knew that they couldn't stop him, is an interesting take. I can't imagine how devastating it must have been for the both of them to lose their son in such a violent way. Not only that, but for Helen and her children ... It's also interesting to hear Helen's voice weigh in on the matter.
-- When it comes to the topic of regret, I feel that most mobsters of the 20/30s do regret some acts but are largely proud of their career all together. I mean, look! Lester died in the 30s, and here we are near on 90 years later (88 years to be exact), and people are STILL talking about him. I'd be proud of that.
-- Also! I noticed that Helen did come up a few times "Charming", "It takes pride". But I laughed a bit too loud when Dalen asked what made Helen fall for him and that same voice from before (assuming it was Lester) went "penis". A bit crude, but funny.
I’m late today. I wonder why Rosemary was sad… good session. Very involved convo. I want to go visit my brothers grave with a pinwheel. Idk why I’m so nervous myself with downloading an app to talk. Anyway Love to your family Dalen. Thanks for another good session!
Thank you!!

Lester Gillis had two children a son Ronald and a daughter Darlene. They often traveled together as a family even while on the run.
Excellent shift Dalen, great research and really on point answers to your questions!! So cool to hear what he and his family had to say. Love love LOVE ❤️
Fascinating shift Dalen! They were quite talkative. I love the gangland shifts especially in Chicago since my parents were born in 1920s Chicago. My father was a news boy. Sold newspapers on the corner in the 1920s and 1930s. Keep up the great work! 😃👍👍♥️♥️

This was a FANTASTIC session!!!!!
Dalen, you definitely need to do a Baby Face 2 if you ever get back to Chicago!
What an amazing story. Thank you, Dalen, for your cemetery interview.
I’m getting better at hearing the answers without looking at the captions.
It comes with time 🙌🏿🙌🏿
Amazing the responses they all had! Very nice to hear their perspective. They weren’t horrible people, just people living and trying to survive in a horrible time and doing the best that they knew how.
The Depression era was a tough 1. It was make do with what little they had to afford when jobs were not always available in abundance.
Clocking in
Hallo Dalen. Thanks for the session. Love love love
I usually don't tell people this but since you are so connected to the 1930's I will tell it here. My grandmother and great aunt knew John Dillinger and called him Little Johnny. They used to walk him to school when he was very young. Years later his sister lived behind my great aunt and he would hide the tall grass between their houses and wait for police to leave so he could either use my great aunts phone to call his sister to let her know he was there to visit, or just sneak over. My great aunt and grandmother went to his funeral and until the day they died said, "that was NOT Johnny in that casket." They also told me that months after he "died" and all the press died down his sister tossed out a sofa all ripped up as it had money hidden in it. She said John came and go the money and moved to Canada. My great aunt had photos them with John and letters he had written. Sadly a greedy person in my family took them when my great aunt died and she lost it all in a house fire.
Wow ...
Hello y'all clocking in from Staten island
Hello John!

@@shirleynichols6849 hi Shirley
Talking to knowen individuals seem to be real clear conversations. It's easy to make out the answers to your questions. I love it so interesting.
Clocking in.
those were some really spot on answers. theres a movie called, oh brother where art thou. in the movie George Nelson hated being called baby face. he wanted to have a ruthless persona of a very feared man, being called baby face was the opposite of how he wanted to be portrayed. the movie also depicted him of having bi polar like tendencies. he'd be on top of the world bragging about his exploits and then suddenly be very down and sad. it did portray him as having a very bad temper at times. maybe he had a mental illness that drove him to his life of crime and ruthlessness, but also his sadness and regret of killing so many people. but this was a Hollywood movie, so who knows if that portrayal of him was researched and accurate.
Hello , clocking in from Wisconsin
Great atmosphere Dalen ,your voice sounds great ,❤️❤️
Clocking in from Port Huron, Michigan. Interesting conversation!
Hello Dalen our fearless shift leader and Graveyardshift Family, I’m here with 👼🏻👼🏻on my shoulders. I believe this was the most honest spirit(s) I have ever heard. Lester knew he hurt his mother and father for what he admitted he did. I’m thinking and hearing Lester say he wouldn’t rob and kill If he could go back. Just for the fact that it wouldn’t hurt his family. He was driven by money and greed. He killed the men that killed him, that was interesting. Rosemary was sad. I don’t believe she could help them cross over due to the murders and greed of money. Lester loved his wife. His wife believed that some should be killed. I think I heard your name a couple of times Dalen. I also heard he is with his gang in the after life and he met the cops he killed. You all feel free to correct me if I’m not hitting the mark. Over all it was sad life due to his choices. I leave with 👼🏻👼🏻on my shoulders. Again by far this was one of my favorite session due to the openness of Lester and his family. Love Love Love.
Hi Dalen☺I love these Gang Land Stories🔫TLove Love to the shifting Community and So Much Respect to The Resting Spirit of Baby Face!

Hello dalen our fearless leader and all the graveyard shifters
Wow these responses were really good Dalen.
I too have an interest in all the crime stories from the 20s 30s its fascinating, love to hear your intro and history at the beginning i could listen to you all day.
Thanks again Dalen.
Just found your page and am so happy I have. Ghost Brothers is one of my favorite shows to watch (and rewatch over and over). Guess I have another RUclips channel to binge watch. Thank you for all your hard work on this.
Hey, hey Dalen & Graveyard Shifters
He hated being called Baby Face. Dillinger thought that he was too much of a loose cannon and really didn't like working with him because he attracted too much attention.
Much the same as Benjamin Siegal hated the nickname "Bugs"
Hey Dalen!! I’m loving this what you’re doing with these OG’s !! Awesome n interesting AF!!
