Just wanted to post something positive as a disabled person with PTSD. After a long few years of honestly being a vegetable and kind of a shitty person, I have finally been able to get back into my hobbies again, and to get real work done in therapy so I am not taking out my trauma on others as much and can work on myself. Personally, creative pursuits like textile crafts (crochet, sewing mini toys, etc.) are some of the easiest ones for me to feel comfortable in, in comparison to drawing or other tasks that take more brain energy, and wanting to do that has also helped me clean more so I can organize the crafts so they are easier to access. Literally sorting a neglected bookshelf to organize the crafts.
I don't know how much this will help anyone else--I just wanted to share my good news, since cleaning as an AuDHD person with mobility issues can be VERY difficult. So this felt like a really big game changer for me, and I hope that others can know creative pursuits, that art, can be healing for PTSD in some people and might give it a go. (RUclips videos have tutorials, and there is nice cheap yarn at The Dollar Tree too.)

My therapist isnt helping me through trauma and theres nothing that can be done about my disabilities and chronic illnesses/pain. The world is literally ending and we are dying and being murdered. Thanks for the kindness and good will of words, but words wont fix the current socio economic state of our country....Theres no point lol

8:57 I feel this on such and intense level. (TW for abuse) I was a child of abuse and neglect for years. My mother was an addict and would treat my sister and I like trash. When I’ve talked about my experiences I very frequently have people telling me to “stop lying” and that “I should forgive her because it was so long ago.” I missed out on my childhood because of her. I and many other survivors of abuse should never be expected to forgive our abusers, no matter how long ago it took place.
Those people are fycking shitty. I don't know how people live shaming an abused person like that.
Remember: the main preacher of the "forgiveness" message to abuse survivors is religions/religious organization who have their own reasons behind wanting to make survivors go away...
@@andrewmathewson341 that’s such a good point and it’s one of the major reasons why I deconstructed my faith. Even when I was little I found it strange that I and so many people I knew who were in the same situation were overlooked despite our church preaching respect and love and sanctuary yet they brushed my very clear neglect under the rug.
When I was a little kid my dad always took my whole family out when he’d go on strike with his union, it happens at least 2 times but I think more, he eventually became a union rep for his union, and he even changed a labor law in the state of California! I’ve always been proud of union workers and I hope everything works out for everyone striking :)

College is a money racket. I’m in trade school to be a welder and an English class is required for the degree in welding. I’m not gonna be reading Shakespeare’s Hamlet while I’m sticking two pieces of steel together with copious amounts of electricity so why do I need this class exactly?
To be a more well rounded person. It's like how STEM guys don't take classes in the Humanities and start pumping out racist AI because they don't understand how society works. I do agree with college sometimes being a scam but learning about other thing can sometimes help in the weirdest situations. Also Hamlet is great though. It's a story about how trying to pursue goals at any cost can destroy your relationships and your life. The prose might be difficult to get into so I'd recommend the cliff notes.
I understand what you’re saying but I took 4 English classes in high school, as did everyone else I graduated with in my academic region. The thing about the AI I understand, and that makes sense. But welding is “here read this blueprint full of numbers and symbols with no words whatsoever, measure the materials, cut it, and stick it together.” Also I read Hamlet my senior year and it was so good
I'm autistic. Just worked 9 hours in 103 degrees while having a cold. Got home and my fire alarm is chirping and maintenance and the office won't answer me. I'm so overstimulated and tired 😫
Bro you need an ice vest, cryo helmet (ice pack that wraps around your entire head), a cooling towel (loads different than a regular towel, ive tried), and those large pump spray bottles that you pump a few times and it has a continuous spray so you dont hurt your hands from squeezing a regular spray bottle a bunch of times. Seriously. Autistic people, we tend to not feel something that we are zoned out of until its BAD. You wont notice it until you collapse from heat stroke. Pleeeease get the things I mentioned if you are working outside in any heat above 89.

I’m doing Latin too! going into my third year since I switched from French :) we were doing a project one time and it involved my cat named Gus, and his name was shortened in one tense to Gi and I thought it was funny. Latin is a very silly language :)

I hate adults. I just talked to the person that organizes my accommodations. She changed them without consulting me and I wanted to talk to her about that. She refused to listen to me and just yelled at me so that was pretty awful. Once again, I hate adults because they abuse their power over anyone younger than them.
Adults are the reason why I’m scared to ask for help with anything
Type out a letter, print that letter fifty times over, and incessantly mail it to her office. If your verbal words won't get through to her, your written words will. Tape it to the window of her office. Bug her to death over it until she concedes and gived you the fucking accommodations you require. Don't let fear stop you. There are other schools and frankly in the times we are living in now, education isn't worth it if you're suffering. Do what has to be done and take no shit.

I understand that if I weren't a minor, they would take me seriously and listen to me. This is just one of the many times I have been let down by people that are supposed to be in positions to help kids.
I feel this, especially as someone in a covertly abusive situation. The only adults that I can talk to without fear of my parents finding out just are so useless in bettering my situation. I wish you all the best.
ayo i need some advice y’all. my bf says he “doesn’t care about politics” and tbh, that worries me. he’ll be 18 in december, he thinks both sides have bad parts (centrist thinking :/) and i keep trying to get through to him that that’s a super privileged way of thinking, and that he should care. he has disabilities too (adhd, dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia, not sure if i spelled that right) so it’s weird to me that he doesn’t care and it’s really hard to explain to him anything without him getting bored or not listening. :/ if y’all have any advice i’ll take it

It's difficult and I can't offer 100% proof solution but sometimes you can notice things that are politicised that they are passionate about, but they don't realise the politics.
For example, you said he was bi, perhaps he'd find a historical bisexual person interesting and through their experiences, see how they are treated by society. Given he doesn't care about politics, that could be a stretch.
Maybe something else even like if he likes fishing and complains about there being less fish or only bass, you could pique his interest in talking about pollution, invasive species, fishing lakes that are paywalled to exclude poorer people, etc. I promise you everything is politicised to some degree, it's about seeing what political issue he'll bite onto (like the right bait for a fish).
Idk why I made so much of this about fishing, I don't even like fishing. But my point is, if you can notice what he complains about, 9/10 times there's a political reason behind why said thing is being complained about. Also please don't let him listen to Joe Rogan, that podcast is a neuron assassin.

You know as partners, if someone is explaining/telling you something that's very important to them, as a partner you should give in the effort to listen even if it's not interesting to you? Honestly I've had similar experiences to you and tobyhollis, just not regarding my partner really. I think maybe you could show him specific examples of how politics affect him and others. Maybe start with issues that relate to the identities he hold, such as ableism and anti-lgbtq laws. Of course however I'm not saying that people should only care about what explicitly seems to affect them, I'm just thinking that maybe it'll be easier to grasp at the beginning? This is just a suggestion. I hope it works out

Yesterday I went to all 5 of my classes for the first time since March. Had to use my access card 20 minutes before school ended, but the fact I was able to turn up to every class, give it a try and then even if I didn’t do the work, sit and listen, im really proud.

Specific small symptoms may hint towards the answers. Striated toes aren’t shown in many disabilities. My twitches are different from tics.

Hey guys, I’ve been identifying as non-binary (in private only because horrible family) but it just feels wrong, you know? I’ve tried really hard not to think about it but now I’m forcing myself to really consider if I’m trans. Whenever I wear super feminine clothes and everyone comments how pretty I am, I feel like I’m in a costume of some sorts. I’ve never felt comfortable in my body or with who I was and could never visualize my perfect self… until now. When I look at who I would want to be, it’s a guy. A guy with short hair and an androgynous style! But I know if I go that route, I’ll face discrimination everywhere and will absolutely face all the bigotry of my family. It’s like I have to choose between my happiness and everyone else’s happiness. I really wish I could distance myself from my family but I just can’t, it hurts too much to even think about.

im sorry about your family☹️☹️ gender can be confusing too. you could still identify as non-binary and use he/him, or you could use they/them and identify as a man! (just a couple of examples) gender is a spectrum and it can be confusing but remember gender doesn’t equal pronouns so you can use certain pronouns and identify as something different! i wish you well on your gender journey!

I've had feelings similar, they've kinda come back in force as of late. Anyway, as an old person with some respectful suggestions. Starting with a pixie cut or at least gradually cutting it shorter might help and remember it's not forever, eventually you'll be out on your own. AAC is just as valid and valued and if you use any form of AAC (sign language, devices, com cards or board, etc) i adore you so much !! also if your oral speech is slured, if you have a stutter, if you have a heavy accent, if you speak 'to fast' or 'to slow' or have any form of speech that is not typical i adore you too !!
I'm learning ASL right now! I know a few signs but I don't know any #s or colors or a lot of other stuff. I just started though, so I won't be that good.

I've been getting bullied a lot bc I'm trans at my school :/ I got called to T slur today, and another thing but I don't feel comfortable sharing it w/ ppl I don't know personally. Idek what I did. I just want to be a normal guy. Now I'm so fucking scared to even use the mens bathroom bc ik kids know I'm trans. But if I use the girls bathroom girls yell at me. Fuck why is being trans so hard? I am literally 13, I should not be getting bullied for this shit
This is horrible. If your parents know maybe tell them and ask for homeschool maybe?? I wish I could help more but I go to a private/catholic school so there obviously aren’t very many trans kids at my school or at least ones that are out or got outed. You deserve so much better than those horrible humans :( but you are so

I was homeschooled last year and I absolutely hated it. I made a friend at school, and I would rather get bullied 24/7 then not be able to see him tbh
@@FutureMint that’s fair!! I get that. The most advice I can give is to try and start not caring. Ik that’s hard especially when the bullying is constant. But I’d try and be proud being called the t-slur or wtv. (That sounds really bad I’m sorry) but take pride in who you are. And if that one friend supports you and loves you for who you are then they can be all you need I promise 🫶
