Unless the skin for some reason provides an unfair disadvantage, it shouldn't matter what skin you have. Skins do no affect gameplay in any way, so restarting the match for that is crazy. Even if it was just a bug. The fact people are trying to rationalize that is crazy.

Yeah, if it is something like during the first 10-20 seconds, then mayyyyybe. But it would be the same as if a laner said “I chose wrong spell”, it would be completely cheating. This situation only happened here because the first issue was a game bug, and the second was not a game bug. Both were found and concluded based on video recording of their screens and of the live cameras.

For everyone saying stuff like "Player error" and "A pro shouldn't pick the wrong skill" as a reply to the fine being too much, that's completely understandable however if the rules were completely set and didn't need to be looked over then there wouldn't have been a long pause and the request would've been instantly accepted or denied so it shouldn't have been on the player as there should've been no point in the request needing that long to be reviewed.

I think in Overwatch, well at least back in OWL, players werent allowed to use skins outside of their teams colors. Im not sure if whether it was their league skins, that cost tokens or just a color change in game. I also dont think they were allowed skins in contenders/tourneys and it was customary in scrims as well. Probably changing now with OWCS, its a lot more lenient on the rules.

The smite is the dudes fault unfortunately and is probably why they weren't granted a restart.

Having the wrong summoner spell cause you are stupid is one thing. Having the wrong skin because the game didnt give you the correct one is something else.

Skin shouldn't have any effect on the matcg in a game like this, but if he uses a certain skin in tournaments, it will be part of the visual identity of the team - tournament hosts certainly *do* care about ad revenue/sponsorships that they get some kickback from.
If someone chose the wong skill and wanted to switch midgame to something that *will* increase their performance, that's when the line gets drawn.
