Your first mistake was going to Home Depot lol. A menards or Lowe’s would be better and if you were serious about this project/ similar project, ask for bulk prices. And yeah, don’t get expensive plywood. There are different grades so maybe just do one really good piece of plywood on the top as it would be the main one visible.
@@doubledarefan Yes. You're looking at cut offs maybe 12" wide & smaller. If you're lucky you might find one or two usable scraps. Definitely not worth the time. Remember for some people money is time, if they got the money to spend on new plywood, it's not worth the time to scrounge around for little to no return.
This has got to be the most unexpected crossover I've ever seen. Subbed to you and Schulzy at different points in my life and then this happens? Fucking awesome.
That's so funny. I started watching Andrew's channel after he did an interview on Rising & last night I was telling my husband I love everything he has in that room he films in. Even the background wall. Very classy set. Nice job!
i really like it, but i'd also be interested in how many sheets you used all together. it does seem like a lot. if it cost anywhere near what i guesstimate it did, surely a few bar clamps would have been in the budget. i'd also have liked to see you use the cavity for some secret storage. maybe a desk pc or a beer keg cooler and pump unit. anyway, very nice! i like the tree organic look very much! :-)
I understand the people that criticize the use of materials, but this is more a project about the design with limited time and tools for me. Not a project i'd wanna rebuild, but it could inspire someone to use the design for a small sidetable or maybe a stool. Especially if you have gathered a lot of offcuts. Even if they don't have the required shape, you could easily glue them together for all the middle layers. Would still need a lot of glue, but whatever.. Even if you're not as happy with the final look, it's probably a better fit for the studio than a simple sheet of plywood with 4 legs ;) Thanks for sharing!
I love this technique yet hate this table. That being said I would still give this build a A- grade. Always experimenting, always taking chances. The primary reason I subscribe to this channel. Have to shout out the Maker Podcast, great insight and fun dialogue between intelligent makers. Keep at its Ben.
The designs are always interesting but the waste of material is so upsetting. 43 sheets of plywood could have made over 20 nice desks very easily. He did the same thing with the spiral staircase.
You know, that looked really awesome when it was all said & done! Could you make a similar table from pine boards & it be lighter weight wise? Would it still look as good in a similar shape? did these thoughts plague you before you decided on a material? Actually how did you decide on plywood? Also thanks for the link to that tool you mentioned. Looks very useful for shaping wood. (I was thinking those angle grinder, with a aggressive sand belt would work, but this tool you linked to may be more practical?)
all those negative comments. I think the table is magnificent! This is about splender anf beauty not practicallity. Great job great design!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Way too little legroom IMO. I think a "cavity" for the legs on the rear/sitting side would be a way better idea. Also, this might probably save half of the material with some careful nesting. The stability shouldn't be a concern

I'm gonna talk to the bank about a personal loan so I can build this table.
Lolz...
Thats the most expensive plywood table ever XD
about $1200 - $1700 going by local plywood prices.
True
There has to be a shape which could allow you to use the upper hollows as lower layers, this particular shape just isn't it....
... unique is usually expensive.
I counted about 40 sheets.. so at $24 a sheet it's $960.. plus whatever Ben charged to make it, I'm sure it's well over 4k.
@@claireconover ... Its a DIY channel.
I'm a big fan of you and your channel as it inspires me to make projects, but this is not a good use of plywood sheets in my opinion
This is how we glue it! Absolutely beautiful! Also we love a good Chemex coffee.
Zero comfort, zero practicality and quite expensive. A perfect architech project.
And must weigh a ton as well!
Interior designers would eat this up and sell this for triple! (Maybe with a solid top.)
I’m always amazed how creative you get with just plywood. Another amazing build brother. Great job!!
Where do you get it for $20 a sheet? its $50 here at my HD
That was the first thing I was thinking as well. At least $46.00 in Wisconsin.
Well he said he did not use furniture grade plywood, he used construction grade I think?
There’s different grades of plywood

you are like the iris van herpen of furnitures..you are making them so couture.amazing!!
How many playwood did you use for the table? and write down the weight of the table.

Money saving tip: Visit a construction site and ask the man in charge for their scrap plywood. Buy 1 sheet just for the top.
Construction site guy here. Scraps you're getting will be to small.
@@alrightythen1533 To small?

Definitely a job for a CNC. Vertical openings would look cool and cut down on weight.
That disk saves Bens lives
what kind of dust collection set up was that with the bucket?
This has got to be the most unexpected crossover I've ever seen. Subbed to you and Schulzy at different points in my life and then this happens? Fucking awesome.
Props for doing that by hand!
Damn... lost me at “I paid $25 per sheet of plywood” started getting anxiety thinking about how many sheets you used 😂
For real. This gave me a wonderful idea for a project, and even if I could find plywood at $25 per sheet, my idea would take $1000 worth of plywood. 😭
💖💖💖💖💖 LOVE This Table, it is a piece of ART 👍🏻👍🏻
Andrew Schultz! Now my favorite RUclipsr and my favorite comedian in the same video!
Woah! 🤩 I’d love to try this approach on a small end table!
Wow... that consume a lot of woods, just for a piece of table.. 🤔
Really cool table Ben, I like it a lot!
It’s gorgeous.

I own a plywood distribution business. And this inspires me to use some of the waste for this kind of project.
I was expecting a hidden storage area since it's hollow.
Good idea!
Omg! It’s amazing
Beautiful!
Very good work
beautiful design
Thank you for inspiring me
Truly awesome
Well done 👍
Woooow 😮, amazing table, I love it.
Amazing craftmanship.
Wow. Inserire un cassetto a scomparsa sarebbe ancora più spettacolare.

Thats absolutely great...
Really cool Ben! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
great work ben!

It was really amazing ❤️😍....
You can do superb job
Beautifully made. Congratulations. I love it
outstanding work
Nice table. Liked the idea.
I’m a fan of the layer method.
beautiful, i would even cut into the top to put glass to look like a river, if that makes sense.
Nice. I keep thinking, use resin.
Love the idea! So much plywood...
That table design looks amazing! Wish i knew about the Galahad discs earlier haha i'll have to check them out
Awesome!! Love it.. And very funny ending.. 🤣 🤣
Awesome design concept 👍
Absolutely love this!
They sell a vaccum attachment for grinders
This is sooo cool!!
I really appreciate your creation...
I like how to made the curves, great build!
wow.. that's really nice design
Hahah perfect use of the Cameo, Ben!!
Fab table! Could you make the top five or six layers a resin pour?
Very nice job

43 x $30 = $1,290. Just in plywood. Cool looking plywood table though. Different and challenging the ordinary.
Maybe an other top layer plywood like walnut etc?. I like the shape , and its still wood so this shape is just right i think. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Good job keep it up! And what about mobilization if you want to sell or anything, l think that size of table does not satisfy with your main door?
Such a waste of matt.
I don’t think Matt minds.
@@jasonandersen5975 I think he means material.
It looks ok but I too think it’s too much ply for one table and the cutoffs useless unless ur making a jewelry box after
Cool!
This is how we glue it.
Feels so good with Plywood, tonight....
Wife goes honey can you move the table over
give me a minute let me get the crane

Bent over throughout the entire build. My back hurts just watching this video.
Totally forgot you guys discussed those shoutouts in the podcast xD
Dayum, hope you got invited to a free show🤣
Glad to see a commercial. It's nice to see that me paying for youtube red is useless. :/
Ahhhhh good old Schultzy. Great comedian
cuantos arboles se cortaron para esa mesa
What the hell kind of coffee pot is that?
That is the nicest, most creative table I have seen...it looks like sculpture. It weighs a ton and that is how much you should be proud!
all those negative comments. I think the table is magnificent! This is about splender anf beauty not practicallity. Great job great design!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the most impractical woodworking video I have ever seen.. . Then I saw the coffee table at the end.
This could have been made in just 3 or 4 plywood sheets. If the bottom was hollow. Just saying.
Amazing
looks cool but it’ll be near impossible to recycle... 240lbs, Jesus Christ my dude 😅
Loveeeee it 😍
must've expanded since being carved on the porch haha
Way too little legroom IMO. I think a "cavity" for the legs on the rear/sitting side would be a way better idea. Also, this might probably save half of the material with some careful nesting. The stability shouldn't be a concern
Edit: Thought it would be used as a desk. But still not a valid design for someone like me who likes to stretch their legs...
You use to many Plywood for one table.. it is very weight i think...
If it is hollow, it will be lighter than wood and less weight
That is beautiful, I watched this thinking I could make this... wrong
Very heavy table!
How heavy is it?
240lbs
I think this could be made with leftover plywood
How much did it way? I'm guessing, a ton.
Beautiful table. Like d the design. The only thing I didn't like is wastage..😢
He said they would use the scraps for side tables etc.
O sh** Andrew schulz very cool
Awesome
i’m going to ikea and snag one
amazing work. Congratulations, I loved the table.
Very beautiful and excellent shape, but lose a lot of wood
It can be implemented at very much lower costs
Very beautiful...
But considering the piece-price..it results into a very expensive project....
Someone just wasted a lot of woods for one good looking table ..
