My dad had a 63 that looked exactly like that - even the same color. He sold it in 1980 for $2,000 I loved that car I was 17 and had enough money in the bank from working on a dairy farm shoveling cow sh-t and throwing hay bails but dad wouldn’t sell the car to me. I cried (to myself) as the new owner drove the car away. I know I shouldn’t feel this way but I never did forgive my dad for that.
I am 73 years old now. When I was 21 I had a 61 white Jaguar roadster and a 65 black Jaguar hard top that i had purchased off a lot in Los Gatos, Ca for $2500. The 65 had a full syncro transmission that was a great improvement over previous years. Years later, I was shopping in a men's store with my son for some clothing when the beautiful young women clerk said i know you,. you lived down the street from me and had two Jaguar XKE's. She was a young child at the time i am sure. You don't see these on the road much anymore since they are all valued above $100,000, dollars now.
I’m also 73 now, and had a red 63 roadster I bought as a wreck for $900. This was in 1975. Fixed it up and drove it while in graduate school. Traded it for a used ford van and enough cash to pay off my student loan. It was just an old British car then, before they were appreciated. Such fun to drive!
Jaguar owner ,,Scotland, have you not come across any V12 E types the convertible ,is one of the nicest looking cars out there..we are now restomoding them in the UK.
Yes, you are right Dennis, it influenced so many other car designs. Although I am for leaving cars alone, I believe this one would be better repainted, so long as it’s done properly, which of course we all know you will. Thanks from the UK for another great Coffee Walk and for saving another British icon.
Great knowledge on all these Brit cars built within 40 miles of where I was brought up but 150mph, never. Not in std form. The 150 recorded on the press car was from a blueprinted & tweaked engine. The 4.2 engine could do 150. The S.U. carburrettors have brass damper hexagonal. That's rare. Also looks as if it's still on cross ply tyres, nice for oorihinalith but a guaranteed vist to the hedgerow backwards in the first sign of damp.
They are only ORIGINAL once. The real value of the car is in its originallity. Let the next guy screw it up. !!!!! There is a BLACK SERIES ONE COUPE in the permanent display section of the NEW YORK METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF MODERN ART. Glory Hallelujah.
The E type is one of the few cars that scared the hell out of me when I drove it. Which belonged to a customer back in the 80's. Mind you I was young dumb and full of come back then lol.
If it was the right hand drive would it be worth more or less? I would leave it alone and maintain it just like this imagine it just like this in another 40 years, awesome.
Something like this was built to enjoy , used what was intended for , driving ! Not trailered to a concours show. I have zero use or interest in a trophy hidden in a storage, trailered around to be shown. Leave paint as is Mr Collins, they only get to be original once
It's Such a shame that the paint has gone. Cars that have been sat outside don't usually suffer like thar, even the manifold is like new. Personally I would keep it as is, loose the white walls and try and do a bit of paint correction.
Very nice Series 1. The engine looks practically new. The headers look perfect in the video. Wish I knew where, the secret location was -- I'd love to see it. G-Dog
I know a older gentlemen that has a few Nomads hiding away with a bunch of boxes with parts NOS... but he won't come off them yet! Sweet jaguar for sure..
So I know you have a solid team, but if you repaint it do you have to send it to a special shop for painting ? Didn’t car paint back then have lead in it ?
Dennis, for the planet's sake, urge you to switch from single use cups, liners, and stir sticks, to insulated stainless steel or ceramic mug (perhaps with Collins Brothers logo on one side and Coffee Walk on the other) and a long stemmed soda spoon. And for your sake, switch from processed sweeteners and creamers to the real thing. You can thank me later.
Oh my God!! That Jag is gorgeous!!! My favorite European car of all time. Thanks for sharing that with us. Has it been repainted yet? Can't wait to see it after paint
I’ve been following you and watching your video on RUclips I like your attitude I have a Jaguar 1989 if you’re interested let me know I’ll send you pictures and then we’ll go from there
You and your crew must save more jags than anyone in the world, i live 2 miles from where they were make , god bless and thank you all
I really like all those toggle switches, doesn't get more analog and uncomplicated than that....what a beautiful ride...
Beautiful Car.
She's A Beauty Dennis
"OUTSTANDING"....
I thought it was going to start my Friday without my coffee walk ..... Now it's a good day 👍👍
this is my fav you have shown.
that i have watched.
As a Englishman in England, I love the way you pronounce Jaguar.
We say EType Jag.
I wouldn't let anyone wearing a jeep shirt anywhere near my Jagwaar.
@@gjmob well that guy in the jeep shirt owns the car stupid

I want to drink coffee with Dennis !!!
Please keep the content coming! I love it
Enzo Ferrari was right, XKE Jaguars (it's pronounced Jag - U - R and not Jagwar), are the most beautiful cars ever made.
There should be a Jaguar kit car so people could drive them around like daily drivers.
Definitely a new coat of paint it needs to be preserved.
Your going to probably hit a million views on this video too.
That would be awesome. The cars deserve that!

The Jag is just stunning!
You forgot your coffee on the roof of that sweet Jag, Dennis 😃👊

Lovely car and I would restore it too.
Where is the car now??
I'm guessing that secret location is the quonset hut at your house.

Id probably leave the paint as is they are only original once
Dennis, love the channel really interesting knowledge...awesome 😜🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧👍👍👍👍👍
I would rather see original rust than new paint.
Why so many challengers? All red eyes? Wanna know more
Nicest Quonset hut I’ve ever seen! I’ve lived in one for a couple of months and it was a bit rougher then yours. This is a great use

Never driven and low miles because those piles never run.
They look sharp standing still.
Yes Sir another bullet point pinnacle car that affected automobile designs and trends Txs for sharing...
The Jag was probably built where I live in Coventry U.K. probably in the Radford / Brownshll Green Plants sadly both no longer exist
The E type is one of the few cars that scared the hell out of me when I drove it. Which belonged to a customer back in the 80's. Mind you I was young dumb and full of come back then lol.

Can't be a good guy, since he left the creamer top open.
I judge people on the shallowest of metrics...heh heh!
My wife said just give it to her she won't mind.

You need him to invite you to his house . It is in one of his garages there .
And at the end, time to retrieve your coffee you left on the red EType. Lol

You forgot your Coffee...but it should be Warm when you go back to get it..lol
I like the non Jeep episodes the best

The question I have, if you're going to blow it apart and repaint it, do you use a new type of paint or stay with the way it was originally done?
Dennis you know your shit!!!!
Definition of SEXY!
One of our the best British cars we designed.
Must it be restored... I'm not sure however, what a great car.
Enjoy the videos, he always puts his cup of coffee somewhere on the car
Dennis I know where one is in a lil garage behind a bar in the country area of hedgesville wv
I wished I was not so skint I would love a nice car any car I feel doomed ☹️
Leave it like that. We seen too much fully restored cars that are nicer and cleaner than they were new.
It's jag-u-r not jagwar
A Jag Series 1 E- Type is my bucket list car to own. So Beautiful.
Good stuff, Dennis. Keep 'em Up-N-Runnin.
It is pronounced JAG-U-R

@@jeremystrickland7767 me too. Not sure what I'm saving it for.
My best friend is British. He says in reference to Jags "Some cars are best remembered....not driven."

I dig the triple windshield wipers.
Leave it as it. Don’t finger it

Oh my God!! That Jag is gorgeous!!! My favorite European car of all time. Thanks for sharing that with us. Has it been repainted yet? Can't wait to see it after paint
DON’T PAINT THE E-TYPE! It only wear its original paint once. Paint it, and it’s lost forever.
Awesome car!
Amazing Jag!

Mechanical problems galore. Beautiful cars though.
