    For a story that follows an Imperial who feels like the Empire is right, I recommend the novel Lost Stars. It follows two characters from the same planet, one who joins the Empire and one who is recruited to the Rebellion. Shows how someone can believe that the Empire and the order it brings is a good thing.

    One of my favorite podcasts I've come to watch immediately whenever an avaliable one is uploaded.
    I'm not a big fan of Star Wars. Im just a casual observer and I always love hearing nerds talk about lore shit and topics as perfect background noise.

    I recommend the book 'dark disciple' by Christie Golden for the podcast!! It's about Quinlan Vos and Asajj Ventress...it's so good. Would be perfect for a discussion and I'd be interested in your thoughts and opinions😁 love the podcast a lot!!

    37:00 I think I was confused because when she was saving Cassian, Maarva said something like the Republic forces were going to hurt him because his people had just killed a Republic officer. Which wouldn't make sense if the crashed ship was CIS as the insignia suggested. And if the ship was CIS then the incoming Republic forces probably wouldn't harm Cassian which means Maarva didn't need to kidnap him. The explanation would be that Maarva didn't know the ship was CIS and made a mistake?
    1:35:00 omg editing to add - the way I shouted YES when you said Kanan Jarrus!!!!!!!! He proved that it is possible for Jedi to form deep relationships without attachment when he recognized that his relationship with Hera could jeopardize their mission to save her. He found the balance. If only the Jedi order had learned that earlier and not been so rigid in their ways, maybe it might've helped prevent Anakin from falling.

    • @TheKat12364
      @TheKat12364 Год назад

      Yes. I do think that Maarva was wrong in universe. Or this is right right after Revenge of the sith and the new empire is just blasting anything and everything so its that awkward time when people would still refer to the empire as the republic...? And the crashed ship was one of the last separatist ships.

    • @kR-qj7rw
      @kR-qj7rw Год назад

      you are spot on with the maarva not knowing about both of the factions specific sships, but I hate the '''Republic forces probably wouldn't harm Cassian'' part
      as time goes on the fandom just have the perception that the republic was good and then suddenly turned evil, clones being manipulated into being loyal soldiers and such with the empire being officially created when in older works its more, the republic was a huge POS that only got worse as the empire, with the republic being inmoral and bad from years prior.
      if cassian was found and after seeing the dead body on the outside of the wreckage with the darts injury and reacted aggressive i could see a clone or a rep trooper being of danger to our kid in that place its truly thrilling how the series is

    Another and for me one of the best tie-in canon product to R1 that i suggest to read is Catalyst: A Rogue One Story. its the story of Galen Erso and how (from TCW to the Empire times) he ended up working on the Death Star. With Saw and Krennic in the story. Very good prequel to R1 and as a story of the Stardust project.

    Hope to see you guys do a review of the novel "Shadow of the Sith." Takes place between episode 6 and 7. Kinda bridges the OG trilogy with the new one, plus you get to see canon Luke at the height of his powers as a Jedi Master before what happened in the new trilogy.

    • @moldomre4838
      @moldomre4838 Год назад +3

      THIS. I just read Shadow of the Sith a month ago and it was amazing. It dragged a tiny bit in the middle but it was just a fun story about Lando and Luke.
      They might want to read some Vader comics beforehand though, there's a lot of stuff about a VERY prominent character in the novel that they need to learn from the comics.

    Maybe that line, "I've been in this fight since I was six." Is a reference to the day his birth parents disappeared in a mining disaster, leaving only a bunch of children surviving in the wilderness because the housing units for the strip mine workers was no longer safe.
    It's not necessarily a fight against the Empire as much as a fight against any authority that cares more for personal gain/power/profit than the populace used to achieve it.

    Did Anakin bring balance to the Force? YES! Luke Skywalker tells Rey that Anakin brought balance in The Last Jedi, and Anakin himself tells Rey that he brought balance to the Force in The Rise of Skywalker. "For many years there was balance." "Bring back the balance, Rey. As I did."
    Anyway, I said it last time but your book discussions are some of my favorite Blind Wave content. I read Rebel Rising years ago and listening to you guys talk about it is making me really want read it again. I probably would have read it along with you guys except I decided a couple months back that it was a good idea to read EVERYTHING in The High Republic again for my THIRD time lol. So I'm very excited for your Into the Dark discussion! Some of my favorite Star Wars characters are introduced in that one. Keep it up guys, I excitedly look forward to this podcast every episode.

    I can accept Eric’s reasoning for keeping Vader off the Mount Rushmore of Sith, but I think omitting Luke from the Jedi rushmore is a CRIME. Also, I think it would be cool if you each came with your own mount rushmores and then compare and contrast rather than try to craft one list. Love the show!

    I think some of the Vader comics may change Erics mind on Vader not being a true Sith lord. And Sidious would disagree on Eric on Tyranus. "Lord Maul was a loss, but Tyranus? He was a proton torpedo, he served his purpose, and was gone."

    The only times (that I'm aware of) that we see the side of the imperials/imperial civilians is in the books. Tarkin, the book, does a good job showing how and why Tarkin does what he does. The first Thrawn book does a good job of taking some characters in the rebel series like Ryder and showing their more villainous side. Pryce for example is shown from a more protagonist side of things in the same book.

    I fucking love this podcast! Finally just two people talking Star Wars! Yes! I agree Rey skywalker is on her way to becoming one of the coolest and most impactful characters. She is no one, but she found her self. She found her family. Palatines blood runs through her veins, his power is hers. That once destructive and vicious darkness, appeased by a scavenger girl, she is the gentle darkness. Now in balance. Serving the light. No one no longer. She has found her family, and her family claims her. She is a Skywalker.

    I also agree that it would be awesome to get a show that puts the Empire in a more morally-grey light instead of just plain evil, or at least has an Imperial main character that doesn't end up switching sides and becoming a rebel. Someone who sticks with the empire throughout their story. Maybe have an opposite situation of somebody who starts out as a rebel but becomes disillusioned from some event or action caused by the Rebellion and ends up joining the Empire and becoming a stern supporter/advocate of the empire.
    An example could be that as a rebel they help liberate a world from the Empire's grip only to see the world fall into a state of anarchy and corruption as new leaders fight to take control with the power gap left by the empires retreat. Maybe they liberate a world only to have the native races begin ethic warfare against one another, with the main character realising that the Empires iron grip and authoritarian rules were the only thing preventing this ethnic hatred from boiling over and starting a genocide, but the freedom given by the rebels allows these ancient rivalries to begin anew. The main character would witness this, and see that maybe the rebel leaders turn a blind eye due to not wanting to be seen as dictators over a free planet like the empire, or maybe the winning ethnic group is providing much needed supplies and support. The main character then realises that the Rebellion isn't as great as they thought and see that the Empire's hardline stance and method of rule brought order and prevented such anarchy, even achieved peace on some planets (even if it was through fear). The main character then betrays the rebellion and joins the Empire, feeling the empires way of doing things is the only reasonable method to sustain peace and order in the galaxy.

    Yoda will always be the greatest Jedi, simply because he is the one behind the legacy of all other Jedi. He is also actively eager to learn from his mistakes, as we see in both the Clone Wars and later on. For that reason alone, besides the obvious power levels and wisdom - he will always be THE incarnation of a Jedi. Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon are immediately after, imo.
