His eyeroll just before he goes into the operatic part is gorgeous.
He is one of the vocalist of the movie Bohemian Rhapsody
From what I understand, Marc was told he sounded like Freddie Mercury before he recognized the similarity. He didn't sing like that to become a tribute artist.
He was picked by Brian May and Roger Taylor to be the vocalist for the official Queen tribute band, The Queen Extravaganza. He also plays the piano and guitar.
In the movie, "Bohemian Rhapsody", Marc Martel provided the vocals where they didn't have recordings of Freddie Mercury that fit.
In an interview he’s mentioned that before covering Freddie, he was emulating a lot of George Michael. Which also makes perfect sense! He’s essentially a hybrid of the two.
@@pastense Marc used to sing religious (Christian) songs too, and when doing those he sounds pretty close to Keith Green. He has a video singing Asleep In The Light (i think) and boy, that's veeeery close.
yes, he is the one who was credited with "additional vocals" in the movie.
It was a travesty that he didn't get the credit he deserves. It's SO much fun when interviewers (who KNOW what happened) say things like, "Marc was the voice of Freddie Mercury in the movie," and Marc just gives an innocent smile. A couple times, when asked directly, he's said, "I can neither confirm or deny that" (due to the NDA).
He was just on a podcast where he said in an official sounding voice, "What you are hearing in the movie is a blend of Freddie, Rami, and myself."
In his regular voice says, "There, I've met my legal requirement." Since he was contacted four years before the movie was made, he was basically cast to do the voice work, but never came right out and said it.
He had his own bad for a decade and was constantly told he sounded like Freddie, to the point of him trying to change his voice intentionally to cut down on the comments after the show. Then someone from the band sent him the link to audition for the Official Queen Extravagant band created by original band members Roger and Brian.
Bohemian Rhapsody. live aid the movie he sang some of the songs
I'm cry......and don't stop .
The 👑King Freddie Blessed
Your comments are very legit. I like you very much. This may be the best reaction to the song. :)
I will watch every Marc Martel song you review. Lovely.
I think he was born with the gift of perfect pitch.
Marc is not trying to sound like him...that's his voice. Listen to Under Pressure, Who wants to live forever, Somebody to love... Also I will always love you
He's absolutely trying to sound like Freddie when singing Queen songs, but he doesn't have to try hard at all. He obviously grew up listening to Queen, so they're a huge influence an his voice is naturally very close. There's also a (somewhat jovial) conspiracy theory out there that claims he's Freddie's illegitimate child. So there's that if you wanna go down that rabbit hole...
@@radioethiopiatego down that rabbit hole 😂😂
First of all he's singing Freddie's part and Freddy did not sing the high notes and trust me he can hit them if he wanted to.
@@radioethiopiatehe’s literally never claimed he’s freddies child where r you getting ur information from😂😂😂
@@x.x.grace.x.x3243 I didn't say that. I said "There's also a (somewhat jovial) conspiracy theory out there that claims he's Freddie's illegitimate child." which is to say, some people on the internet (somewhat jokingly) suspect that he is Freddie's kid. I don't take it seriously. It's just an interesting titbit to add to the discussion.
This was recorded in One Take. so no post-production. Granted it was not the first take as Marc joked in the beginning, but it was one take nonetheless, so same as live.
He has his own Queen tribute band.
And he gave his voice for the film Bohemian rhapsody.
He sings for idk 20+ years, and then many people told him, hey you sound very much like Freddie. And so he started studing queen and Freddie. The rest is history.
(Long time Marc Martel fan here, so i love reactions like this)
Not only does Marc sing so well he does it while playing the piano. Great reaction.
Yet no reaction to his masterful keyboard work?
The whole band never did this live, they always left the stage for the operatic part.
That was most disappointing.
That is F***N right , that is a MONSTER song, and he is on it 99%.....I love it friend from Poland.....
Natural voice.... At the beginning he didn't know about Freddie
Marc sang everything in the movie...every songs.
Beautiful reaction A.L please keep reacting to Marc he'll blow your mind!! xx
Yes he did the singing of Freddie Mercury in the movie he was chosen by Queen themselves as the best one to perform. As Freddy
Please keep in mind that on the original disk A Night at the Opera, the operatic part was recorded using Roger Taylor's voice for the high notes passages, not Freddie's. Here, Marc Martel had to do everything by himself.
Great review, and I just love your laugh darlin'!
Hi Anastasia, check out Marc and his friends doing a cover of Under Pressure, its mind blowing 😀
Marc Martel - Under Pressure - Featuring the UQC (Queen cover)
Here is the link ruclips.net/video/V-_Y5sCaLpE/видео.html
Marc was the voice of Freddie in the movie 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. However, this is his regular voice.
Marc naturally sounds like Freddie. Check out his 90’s cover series like his Everybody Hurts cover or try another Queen track like Who Wants To Live Forever
Who Wants To Live Forever.... incredible rendition from Marc.
Fabulous !!
Great reaction!! If you seen the movie Bohemian Rapacity you heard Marc. He did 80% of the vocals. The other 20% was Marc mixed with Freddie master tracks
It’s definitely his own voice, but he uses a lot of Freddie’s singing techniques while singing anything Queen.
Queen had some hard rocking songs, too. "Modern Times Rock & Roll", "Sheer Heart Attack", "Stone Cold Crazy" etc. If you slapped a mustache and some protruding teeth on him, he'd also _LOOK_ like Freddie. He's already got the square jaw. Spooky.
You should listen also to his cover of "Somebody to love" and "love of my life" they're fantastic😍
Just found this guy. Shockingly talented and the Freddy Mercury is flawless IMO. Never thought it would be possible. Never. Yet here we are. Adding the guitar parts in addition to the piano is clever/brilliant/and extremely difficult. Just stunning. In the 1970's, I was on one of those ticket-paid buses, maybe Greyhound, in upstate New York heading to visit my cousin when I heard this song be introduced as a new Queen release. The driver was actually playing music over the speakers. A radio station in that area. I'm telling you the entire bus passenger group was mesmerized. I remember it like yesterday. Seeing this maestro brought back those memories. Bravo!! (As a side note, this is the first time I heard the line ""Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me" in the song lyrics. @_@. I guess I like many, get so engrossed in the macro sound of this masterpiece, we fail to hear the micro details at times. This cat's articulations and clarity, in spite of his tremendously busy piano and voice onslaught, are nothing short of miraculous really. And flawlessly to boot IMO. Bravo Zulu...Well Done!
I love your reaction. Thanks.
You have to react, you MUST to react to more of Marc Martel's covers of Queen, please!
Who wants to live forever and killer queen he covers really well
Notice, the oooohs in the end of the song sounds straight out of the FLASH album. Freddies does some particular falsettos on that album.
I enjoy your reaction 😁👍
He did the singing for the movie as well btw.
Although i totally understand for Queen not to pick Mark as the lead singer, it fits so well, Mark is in many aspects Freddie incarnate.
"Oh, my God. This gives me an orgasm right now!" High praise indeed, coming from a true BoRhap aficionado. I highly recommend Marc's covers of Queen's Killer Queen, Love of My Life, You Take My Breath Away, Under Pressure, and Don't Stop Me Now. For non-Queen covers: The Mercurotti (two-in-one!), Kiss From A Rose, Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me, I Will Always Love You, Everybody Hurts, and Freedom 90, among many others. I can guarantee you will not be disappointed.
I would also add George Michael's cover "One More Try" (feat. Pipe Organ).
Nobody ever asks for a reaction for this performance which, in my opinion, is beautiful.
And as usual, improvised on the stairs. 😁
So Marc actually was told by many people that he sounded like Freddie Mercury and it took sometime to convince him to try attempt imitating him. A lot of people say he is trying to be the new Freddie but in my opinion he is making Freddie live on.... we know no one can replace FM but. I know for damn sure Adam Lambert could be replaced....
He was singing in the Freddy Movie !
@Joe Eagle, he did a LOT more than they want you to know. He was at the Abbey Road studio for MONTHS.
He sounds naturally like freddie but has also learned the techniques of freddie
It sounds like Freddie in the studio. He is better than Freddie live.
Anastasia - I appreciated your "reaction" video far above most others because you're one of the few that recognized what he was doing with all those jumps and "non-melody" choices, that they are quite calculated to create as much of the harmonies as a single voice can. I know the "high note" feels like a possible "miss" but you're right that logistically, he may need to have "made a choice" My hunch is he didn't have quite enough breath (notice the single moment when he must affect intonation for an intake) to nail the high one (which we all know requires mad support from diaphragm, which cannot be replenished in a fraction of second). If he had the time to breathe, you're right...he would have nailed it. Thank you again for picking up on what few recognize. Cheers!
That is his voice. Not an imitation. I saw him live. And hlhis voice IS always like that! It was like to be to a Queen's corcert for real!!!!
Its impossible to repeat Freedie so he is one of the real proof that he actually is his son
The fact when he went for a tour and the time that Marc was born all come up as a correct numbers.
Also Marc not making himself as a Freddie he just singing.
Nobody absolutely Nobody can come so close to Freddie vocals and look and this man .... have a think people.... apart from singing have a look of his mouth when he singing and actually his face. So so so looking like fresh
this is freddie sing when hes fit ....simple...its marc freddie martel
Marc é incrível por favor faça mais react , dele cantando Queen 😁
react more queen cover from marc martel pls🥺
Marc is the lead of Queen's own cover band. Roger and Brian picked him.
Not anymore. He left Queen Extravaganza for his own creation. The Ultimate Queen Celebration. Queen Extravaganza has had a different singer for a few years now.
0:49 - The musical was called "We Will Rock You," not "Bohemian Rhapsody."
4:09 - Marc has had ZERO training. It's all natural.
6:55 - "Nobody can sound like Freddie." I'm afraid Roger Taylor will disagree with you. Marc has actually fooled Roger on multiple occasions. Here are a couple quotes from Roger, about hiring Marc to front "Queen Extravaganza," the official tribute band.
"I wanted to avoid some guy impersonating Freddie. The fact that Marc Martel's voice sounds spine-chillingly identical is just a fact of nature. That's his voice. When he sings our songs, it's pretty uncanny. You close your eyes and it's like Freddie is in the room. It's scary."
"We're very lucky to have found a singer like Marc Martel who sounds so...and even looks a little, here (gesturing to his face), like Freddie Mercury. But (when) he sings. It's like being in the room, in the same room, as if Freddie was in the room. I think Freddie would be absolutely on the floor. I think he'd go. 'Wow, I think you sing better than me.' It was that good. I think he would love it."
Marc fronted his own multiple award winning Christian band (called "downhere") for over 10 years. Then he auditioned for Roger Taylor and won the lead with "Queen Extravaganza," Queen's "official" tribute band, in late 2011. He sang with them until the end of 2016. When they were not going to tour in 2017, he started his own cover band, "Ultimate Queen Celebration." He's performed with them since, along with "Black Jacket Symphony" (they do EXACT recreations of famous albums, in live concerts), "Symphonic Queen" (in Mexico, with a full symphony orchestra), and as part of "One Vision Of Queen" (basically a re-named UQC), touring eastern Europe. He has several albums of his own music out as well.
Marc also did vocals for the "Bohemian Rhapsody" movie. The 30+ year old analog magnetic tape master recordings would not have been up to modern "Dolby Atmos" digital quality standards, so they used a technique called "vocal layering," where they blended Marc's voice with Freddie's. If they didn't have a good copy of Freddie singing something they wanted in the movie, it was purely Marc singing it. for some reason, they gave Marc almost ZERO credit in the movie and after. But, if it wasn't for Marc, that movie could never have been made. You can see the tracks in this photo from the Live Aid scene mixing board, where Freddie's track is "LV-STEM LVAID DRY FREDDIE_01" and Marc's track is "LV-STEM LVAID_01," directly beneath it.

In December 2019, Marc was the special guest star for the Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant Christmas tour. He brought the house down every night. The three of them released their cover of "Silver Bells" which went to number one on the Christian Music chart. For Christmas 2020, Marc teamed with Amy Grant to release their cover of "The Christmas Waltz," a Frank Sinatra song.

Marc trained for this a lot.
Its just he sounds naturaly very close to freddie, the rest is training.
He say‘s this all the time.
@@philipkalin1928
"No training", in the sense that he did not attend singing schools.
He is a natural monster (of talent).
It is obvious that in order to perform the pieces he has to study them and try them several times (I think Pavarotti and Sinatra did too), but what he manages to do he does without having had specific teachings. 🤷♀
@@philipkalin1928 Practiced (singing over and over again to build confidence in hitting the notes and understanding the meaning of the lyrics to better convey that in the musical expression) but not taught.
❤
0/10, didn't end with a gong 😂 hehe.
Nah, Marc's great!
Love your reactions. Cheers x
Queen hire him to clean up the music for the movie Bohemian Rhapsody.
I heard him a lot, but only this time I am really listening to him ..he kind really "mimic" (in positive meaning) Freddy Mercury, he is really good ...really really good! Thank you Anastasia.
He's never had a singing lesson in his life.
cavolo parli benissimo inglese! complimenti!
What about Steve Perry?
Please react to Marc Martel mercuroti thanks
He's never had a lesson all him... Sounding a little bit like him? LMFAO
Ana.... please react to Nightwish "how's the heart" Acoustic version
You won’t believe this, but he’s completely untrained as a singer. Complete natural.
Just like Freddie. Natural born singers can do their own thing and Freddie and Marc do and did it. It's all on them and we are the better for it.
Marc is SELF taught singer/instrumentalist. Yeah, self taught. No lessons or vocal coach.
Please react alip bata ft marc martel sis :)) love of my life 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Luna is my cat's name! 😸
The cover that outshines all the other to me is Angelina Jordan. 13 years old and wrote her own, completely different, arrangement to this song. Which probably sounds like blasphemy - to sing this in a way that makes it nearly unrecognizable, but it’s truly a masterpiece.
please react also california hotel from alibata fingerstyle indonesia
I see that you have seen videoclips of 2 of the 3 a cappela bands. Just see the youtuve of Voiceplay, Queen in 5 minuts. They are more.. theatrical.
It's Okay Freddie, You Can Take Off Your Mask Now .
Please react to Gabriel Henrique stand up
Oh sorry one more little thing
Please close your eyes and listen to him ...
And then tell me who you think you listen to ???
Please react Alip bata feat Marc Martel
At 12.05 ……that’s when she realised she wanted your babies….
Marc is so far superior to Adam Lambert in every possible way, that it's truly laughable. One day, Marc needs to take his rightful place on the throne of Queen. Lambert is horrendous at singing Queens music. He should have stuck to his own glam, pop material. Ugh. 🤮
All you MM Fans are the same NASTY, Adam is not horrendous he has an unbelievable voice and is Brian and Roger's choice, your preference is MM so go and enjoy him and stop bad mouthing Adam he will be there when QAL retire. For all QAL ❤❤❤👑👑👑
@@xmasbunnyscotland5355 Still 🗑. NOT, nor will ever be, Queen. No matter if Roger and Brian chose him or not.
@@darksoulnj You MM Fans are missing the point big time, Adam is part of QAL which is now a different era for Queen, they had Freddie who is totally IRREPLACEABLE, Nobody will ever replace him certainly not MM who is only a mediocre imitator there are hundreds out there trying to do the same thing and failing miserably. Keep bad mouthing Adam it won't make any difference MM will NEVER be anywhere near Queen shame but sometimes you can't fix stupid.
@@xmasbunnyscotland5355 Lol! The jokes on you. Marc HAS actually performed with Queen AND is responsible for a lot of the vocals from the Bohemian Rhapsody movie when it wasn't actually Freddie. But do go on, calling him a bad imitator. Funny how it's ok to you that Brian and Roger chose Adam for one thing, but they also chose Marc for things as well, but that's simply thrown out. Laughable really. As for whether or not he ever tours with them, ehh I don't really care anymore. I'd go see Marc with his band for a fraction of the price, over going to see the remnants of Queen with that awful screeching peacock. But, do enjoy! But... it's not Queen.
@@darksoulnj You've given your opinion have I said anything bad about MM? You haven't done any research have you? Only 0.0001% of MM's vocals wee used they were mixed with original recordings of Freddie, I get it that you don't like Adam but think on, yes Brian and Roger chose MM for their Tribute Band which was okay for a while, but he did the dirty on them, now they have no contact at all. All this has nothing to do with Adam, NOTHING, you're the one bad mouthing him why? I have no problem with MM but I have his fans and you've proved exactly why doesn't say much for your chum does it.
Why you don't pay to attention that so many people said thay he is actually his son
He's not really, but it's a fun theory that a lot of people seem to have.
Marc is always imitating Fredie.
Thats bad.
