Absolutely love this watch. The Snowflake is a stunning watch, especially in person, but this option with no date and no power reserve just gives you another choice. To be honest I'd happily have both.
They came so close to perfection! This with the snowflake white dial and 100 metre water resistance or a smaller sized snowflake without the date and the power reserve would be the perfect watch!
Finally a modern-day GS that's sized right for my 6.5-inch wrist. Thanks for sharing this one. I'm in agreement with you about everything else too, especially the no-date dial symmetry and texture, plus the beautiful, slimmer case design. Absolutely stunning! Thanks for taking the time to produce this excellent review.
Now there's a better option: the SBGX353. 34mm and a nicer case shape, and significantly lower price; essentially a smaller quartz version of the Omiwatari.
I have a Snowflake and it is my favorite watch. I really like the date and the power reserve meter. This watch is equally beautiful and having the power reserve meter on the back is a great idea. I would prefer an automatic and this is more of a dress watch and I never get dressed up.
I went in looking to purchase a Snowflake and walked out with a pre-order for the white birch. I was quite deeply underwhelmed with the snowflake. The titanium makes it feel cheap. The omiwatari dial is unreal and for my choice trumps the snowflake.
I definitely considered both of these but this week when the seasons collection became available here in the UK I have secured the sbga415, I can't wait!
Perfect for me would be a GS style dial, spring drive, titanium, tapered bracelet, power reserve on the back(not the front) but visible date complication... Handwind spring drive sounds awesome and the thickness improvement is awesome
Grand seiko really like showboating when it come to dials, but I'm not complaining. Real eye candy. Still prefer the original snowflake, but this is stunning too.
Ok, just gonna say it. This is officially my grail watch. In my budget, this is as good as it gets. Damn near perfect, only ding is….I like a date. Still, gonna chase this one. Excellent video as usual 😎👍🏼
a dateless hand wind is not something that appeals - until now. I've just realised that for me, it's a bit of a punish having to change the date on a watch I haven't worn for a while. Plus, I have an 8 inch wrist but I find myself increasingly drawn to smaller, thinner watches. You've made a convert.
My wristsize is also 8 inch but it is just perfect size because of nthe fact that the dial takes up a lot of space. So it is really perfect for your wrist.
Even we had some opinion differences about replicas earlier baldie, got to agree with you 99% about this watch. I love it but it got one major visual setback which I cant get over : dial pastel color. Is that dial really light blue? In my opinion, luxury watches should stick with white/black/grey dials, not pastel colors. Color are just too ...non classy, IMHO. However if that baby blue is not turnoff for you guys, buy this watch, now. Nice review!
If I were to buy a GS watch it would be my dress piece most likely. Needless to say, this model fill that niche much better than Snowflake. That's regardless of Snowflake being a cool watch in its own right. btw, I hope you continue to release videos at this time of the day. They show up in my feed right when I start my lunch time in UK.
Exactly. Spring drive is a nice “complication”, but nothing more than that. I have a modern conventional mechanical watch that runs at +0,5seconds per day, so the +- 1 second advertised for spring drive is nothing to write home about anymore. Other than the gimmick of the sweeping second, it is just a no date, manual wind watch, be it with a very proper level of finish. 4000 would be more than fair. OK, 5000 because of the nice story behind the beautiful dial and the name “Grand Seiko” printed on it. No more than that.
@@felix3138 It's advertised at 15 seconds per month. Apparently there's some rounding error. My experience shows an accuracy better than 15 seconds per month. Over a week's time I noticed maybe 2 seconds off, at most.

Thanks for watching Allan. Hope you get both!
This is my favorite steel dress watch among current GS lineup. I would recommend everyone who wants a dressy piece.
Thanks for watching buddy

Almost, but not for $3,000.00 more. If it were $5,000.00, yes.

Ya I don’t dress up often enough to justify having a dedicated dress watch. But this is still amazing.
This watch is so perfect and so much nicer than the snow flakes. It s amazing and I totally agree with all your points !
I'm not a fan of the way GS bracelets look, but this strap looks really good!
Holy Smokes! That is a thing of beauty.
Great video. Tons of valid points on this beautiful watch. My favorite is hand wind with PR on the back. I dont know why more companies dont do this.
Ya that is a really cool feature.
Watches using 9R31, 9R01, 9R02 and 7R14 have this configuration. The new 9RA2 also puts PR indicator at back side even it's automatic.
I’m in a pinch because I love both! Great video, thanks for the comparison and excellent shots of both watches!
Ooooooooo NO DATE!!!!!! SOLD!!
Great stuff Guy! Having reviewed the Skyflake I was very impressed. This one looks sweet!!!
Definitely a lovely model.
Thanks for watching
The perfect elegant luxurious dress wristwatch 👍 far more perfect than any luxury watches I’ve seen regardless of price range or brand

Nice, enjoy that, it looks great!
Love it! Thanks Guy!

Great takes!
Perfect size
Clean dial
Surely a grail 🥵
Definitely!
I love this beauty! I wish it is automatic and retains the 10mm thickness.
Now that could be great.

They’re both great imo.
@@JustBlueFish No doubt, I just like the snowflake a little more
Great watch! And unusual. Given that power indicator (even though on the back), that's a manual watch I could get behind! Good vid! Keep at it!

"If you haven't owned a hand-winding watch, you're missing out." Totally.
Thanks for watching Otto!
@@JustBlueFish and thanks for taking the time out to reply, appreciated. Enjoy your channel greatly.
TGV reported that Oniwatari has a ghost position on the crown. Can you please confirm?
It doesn't have a ghost position. Someone sent a broken one to him to review
@@06lanevomr Lol
OMG you made me want that watch.
What a beautiful watch.
Love this watch!
Great dress watch but I’m not really a dress watch fan( I know “sacrilege “)😎!
Haha it’s ok I’m generally not either.
@@JustBlueFish I have a DJ41 in a dressy configuration I like 👍-about as dressy as I’ll go.
Great video

like the watch, not the strap tho.
If you have had a chance to see both in person which one would you pick, the Omiwatari or the Skyflake?

Ya 7am Eastern time, Monday Wednesday and Friday is what I shoot for.
I agree. I wouldn’t want to scratch up the finishing if I wore it as an everyday watch. I just wish this one was the same price as the snowflake!
The only problem with this watch is its price. 8600€ will be hard to sell

Never caught the seiko bug...
You got the Vostok flu!
@@JustBlueFish. True
The Omiwatari is a stunner. Much cleaner dial than the Snowflake, better size, not much not to like here.
I thought that the strap was black.
I m too young for put this watch i m only 63 years old...lol
Thanks for watching!
I'm 70, a perfect age for this watch
Dress watch with no date is great when attending a man event you had an invitation for.
You shouldn’t need a reminder of the date at that time. Lol.
This over the snowflake all day every day.
Now if Grand Seiko can make a 40mm diver...
Right!
Amen 🙏
