Im a 56 yr old black guy..I been listening to Journey since my 10th grade yr in high school..Back then we had Sony Walkmans. I walked around my neighborhood jamming them all the time..I went to see them in concert July 3 1983. Oh yeah I went by myself.
Neal Schon on that guitar just totally hits different❤️
Agreed. I think he is underrated. I mean he was super young when he started with Santana. Santana realized Schon’s gift.
@@matteoedwardes2876 "Everybody's Everything" - Neal tearing up that solo when he was only 17 (I think). Ages have a way of getting exaggerated on here.
Schon plays a Les Paul guitar
@@davidbrown013 I believe he is playing a Les Paul in the Escape tour, but he has played many different types from what I've read.
Yep he played with Santana at Woodstock
STEVE PERRY WAS SAID TO HAVE THE MOST POWERFUL VOICE IN MUSIC. He could sing in a stadium without a microphone. ❤❤ 😎
I love seeing people discover how amazing Steve’s voice is. Pure talent! My mom was OBSESSED with them when I was a kid. It’s LITERALLY the soundtrack to my childhood. Such a great catalog. My mom saw them in the early 80’s, and was at the Houston concert everyone always watches. She always tells me they were AMAZING in concert. I’m jealous, too, Asia.
I saw them in concert in the 80s, your mom is 100% about that! Journey with Steve Perry is the best concert I've ever been to.
Yep the only group that was better live.
I saw them about 5 times in SoFL in my late teens and early 20's. Never a disappointment, ever. What you heard on the album was vocally note for note and tone perfect..I believe only because of Steve's ability.
I'm also jealous
Journey, especially between about 77` to 82` was amazing. They had a lot of success after that as well, but that's my favorite `era` of the band. This is one my favorite songs from that era.
Winds Of March is a very underrated Journey song. But the best with Steve Perry. The bridge with the organ solo is astounding.
This whole album ROCKS. Everyone loves Steve’s ballads. But this band can ROCK with the best of them. Journey has so many songs that are just BANGERS. Don’t get me wrong, NO ONE can sing a Rock Balled like Steven Perry. But that man and that Band has some of the most rocking songs for the late 70’s and early 80s. Make sure you check out this WHOKE ALBUM. The always Beautiful ASIA, and my brutha from anotha Mutha BJ. Love and light to you both 💙
Love seeing BJ rock out like that. He even almost cracked a smile lol
Neal Schon was self taught on the guitar. He was 15 when he joined the group Santana. The guy is unbelievable on the guitar!
Steve Perry is Journey, even though journey came first. When he joined, the band hit the charts.
This group was such a powerhouse, Steve Perry has a very recognizable voice. Great tune, used to blast it as I was cleaning house, it was inspiring, lol. Thanks Asia and BJ
Rock on!
I was lucky to see Journey multiple times before they split. Then I made sure my daughter was raised on great music with the best vocalist. She's only 18, Gen Z and off to college. Gen X passing it down. Now Asia and BJ are passing it on and forward. We all need to experience the best of ALL genres.' I literally roller skated to this with my future baby daddy.
Thanks for sharing!
i remember seeing you at those shows 😀
Am Gen Z, my moms Gen X we both love Journey
"Feeling That Way/Anytime" are always played back to back by good DJ's and reaction hosts....lol
Two Great songs...!!!
A must!
Asia & BJ, you’ll love their Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin' and "Anyway You Want It"!!!
Journey was amazing in concert! Steve Perry’s voice just goes beyond!
Love love love Journey and the original man, Steve Perry! Saw them in 86 and blew everyone away always, he does it with ease and so much power! Sounds the same live! Neil Schon great guitarists!! Original Journey can’t be beat!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
They have sooooo many hits but deep down this is still my favorite...the vocals, guitar and it will give you a pick me up anytime you hear it! And I'm with you Asia, would've loved to see them live...born in the wrong decade!
It's also in one of my favorite movies of all time-Caddyshack!
Great reaction. Phenomenal band. Amazing singer. Nuff said!!! 🤟
I'M ALSO JEALOUS OF WHOEVER GOT TO SEE THEM IN CONCERT I WAS TOO BUSY BEING A MOTHER AND A WIFE IN THE 80S . I LOVE WATCHING YOUR REACTION . YOU ARE SUCH A BEAUTIFUL COUPLE KEEP THE LOVE GOING 💜
Nobody makes Asia smile like Steve Perry!
The Lead Guitarist is Neal Schon, BJ. The Band is still around but Neal Schon is does lead vocals. Steve Perry became the lead vocalist on October 10, 1977. That is when Journey as a band really took off. By the way Neal Schon is an original member and founder of the band in 1973. Thank you for your reaction to this song Asia and BJ.
Journey is the 80s. They take me right back with the first note.
My very FIRST concert, 1982, at 12 in Seattle, WA, was Journey! It was the Escape album tour. Steve Perry has SUCH great stage presence. Great pick for a song today. This one is classic. Loved this reaction. 💜
Steve Perry's voice is remarkable, smooth as silk. I prefer watching his live performances, especially the concert in Houston.
ANYWAY YOU WANT IT
THATS THE WAY YOU NEED IT
My mom loves Journey, and for good reason (it’s her birthday today btw). Steve Perry’s voice is transcendent
As a longtime fan of Steve Perry, I'm still amazed about his voice!!
I have been so grateful to have been able to have seen Steve and Classic Journey in concert. Journey played in Houston, Tx in 1983, to 3 sold out shows. I was able to have seen them for 2 of the 3 shows. And then I saw them again in 1986 tour, for the Raised On Radio tour. And then I saw Steve for his first solo tour in 1994.
Here are some great rockin' Classic Journey songs to react to ........ 'Escape, Chain Reaction, Edge Of The Blade, Message Of Love, Ask The Lonely, The Party's Over (Hopelessly In Love)!'
3:06 My favorite part of the song. Perry's voice just soars.
Guitarist is Neal Schon (Pronounced "Shone"). If you want to see something completely stoopid - check out Neal's discography. Dude has SOOOO much music to his name - so many bands, and solo artists, and projects that he worked on.
For one of steve's most majestic sounding songs ever was from a solo album he did - the song is called "Missing You" from the Love of Strange Medicine album. This song will melt your heart!
For Journey songs with Steve at his best, I cant recommend these songs enough:
"Still They Ride"
"Happy To Give"
"Eyes of a Woman"
"Why Can't This Night Go On Forever"
One of, maybe thee, greatest Journey songs ever. Song, songs... you get the point. Neal Schon is a criminally underappreciated guitarist. One of the all-time greats.
The way you reacted to this song was the same way I reacted to it the first time I heard it. Classic!
I grew up on Journey and still one of my all time favorite bands! They have a gem called Dixie Highway, which is on their live Captured album. It was only recorded live and I think the best version has no music video, directly from the album. It has Steve's amazing voice and incredible musicianship with excellent transitions, and Neal Schon's amazing guitar!
You are the only one besides myself that has mentioned "Captured." That is the greatest album (CD) out there. There is Steve Smith's drum solo after song 13 as well. The best version of this song which is my all time favorite, "Any Way You Want It" is on this CD, song 16.
@@t74guard78 Absolutely love this album!
Journey's music has and will continue to stand the test of time! Talent in every band member, not only with their instruments, but in songwriting, harmonies, and stage presence! Tour de force!!! Nuff said!!!
Oh Asia! Steve perry is one of the best vocalist that has ever graced this earth. Completely seamless live and no effort. Just destroys it. Great band as well. And live…oh you missed it! I was very young when I saw them and I was shocked by his voice. Still kills me every time and they are played every day in my house! Kids grew up on Steve perry even though they don’t care for anything else but him. Not their scene, but they can’t deny him! Ever and no one can! He’s breathtaking! Such a wonderful person and for his voice to be taken away from him was a crime to the world!!!
Lovin, touching, squeezing by Journey is also a great song by this legendary band.
"Any Way You Want It" Now that's a line you'd like to hear from your significant other.👍
Neal Schon on guitar, he was a child prodigy and trading licks with the great Carlos Santana when he was 16, he's a founding member of Journey
Their are two types of people in the world...people who love journey.....and people who don't admit they love journey 👍🏻👍🏻
Correct
Journey was my first concert in 1983 and I saw them again in 86 and I saw Steve Perry solo in 92 I was blessed to see Steve live that many times ......
Neal Schon is the guitarist, and most likely, on this song, he's playing a Gibson Les Paul. There's an official performance video of this song, and Neal Schon was playing a Les Paul. Schon plays all kinds of guitar types and brands. He even used to have his own line of guitars. He is the longest standing member of the band. He's been there since the very beginning and is still active in the band.
i'm jealous of everyone who got to see them live too! i feel the same way about so many bands and artists of that era. i wasn't even alive in the 80's :(
LOVE THIS SONG
Loved that song as a kid. Departure came out my softmore year in high school. I loved that album. Excellent band, amazing singer. Super soulful singer, hard rock n band.
Journey is my favorite band too!! Listening to them since I was a kid growing up in the 70s and they never ever get old!! They are just awesome!!
I saw Journey in concert at Reunion Arena in Dallas, Tx in 1986 on their Raised on Radio tour --- it was *AMAZING* !!!! Journey with Steve Perry was magic. Pure magic.
Steve has such an amazing god-given gift in his voice. And Neil Schon is a very underrated guitar 🎸player, but completely amazing.
My first rock concert was Journey, with Steve Perry singing. They put on one hell of a show. Back then concerts were wilder too. Nobody stayed in their seats, and usually people rushed the stage. I'm so grateful to have seen them and other great bands.
I got to see them in concert in 1981 in Las Vegas at the Aladdin Hotel. Amazing live!
Ya'll keep playin' the best and makin' me re-live some of the best years of my life...thanks for shariing with me... Asia and BJ always bring the best reactions, thumbs up!
Thanks so much
One of my top favorite Journey songs! Steve's voice is one of the best in rock-n-roll ever, guy is so gifted. First time I heard them was on the "Blue Jean Network" in either 79 or 1980.. ."Lovin Touchin' Squeezin'"....absolutely blew me away.
Even hearing them now, all these years later......they sound so fresh, the memories just come flooding back to me, I love it !!
I've been listening to Journey since the late 70's. Yes, I consider myself very lucky.
My older sister got to see them Live in the early 80s and I cried because she wouldn't take me with her lol. No one did it like Steve Perry what more can I say about him! 💞
My absolute FAVORITE Journey song!
This was probably on if their most popular songs in their early days. Such classic rock music. Love it 👍👍
Definitely need to react to Mother Father live in Houston 1981. Steve and the whole band were on a higher level. Love your Journey/Steve Perry reactions.
Yes! ❤
There is no other!! Steve is just amazing!!
My first concert ever was Journey in 1981 on the Escape tour. I saw them on their next tour for Frontiers also.
I seen journey 4 times in the 80s with Steve. My highlight came in 83 I had backstage passes and yes I met Steve and he was very friendly. ❤
Awesome song!! “Send Her My Love” is another banger
Neal Schon is the guitarist. His unique guitar sounds always takes me back to the 80's. He also played with Santana before forming Journey. He also has some solo Jazz albums.
I was privileged to See Journey Live at Day on the Green in Oakland CA. 1982. They were Awesome 😁
Steve Perry and Freddie. Lights out with those two. Who is the GOAT??????? I have seen them both live. Amazing. Journey was a birthday gift from my wife and was on Aug 5, '80 and then we saw them again in May of '82. Freddie and QUEEN were ON my birthday at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit Aug 6, 1982. I have been so freaking blessed to always be into music and to have seen so many of the legends. OMG, it would make kids today jealous. I even saw the Beatles at Olympia Stadium in Detroit Sept 1964. I should write a book about my life in Detroit growing up Asia. My life has been awesome. My wife tells me all the time that it would make an interesting awesome book. She says Forrest Gump hasn't anything on you. Sorry if I made ya feel "Some Kinda Way" lol.
I was in high school during their peak year... we had them, Van Halen, Rush, Eagles, Boston, The Cars... what an amazing time in Rock
"Oh Sherrie" may be my favorite song ever. Top 5 definitely.
Can you believe Journey has been around for 50 years this year and they're on tour right now.
The second concert I ever went to was Journey, headlining the Summer Jam at JFK Stadium, Philadelphia in 1983. Their set there June 4, 1983 is featured in the documentary "Frontiers and Beyond", of that tour. It's on RUclips.
I'll be all right without. I'll be all right without you
JOURNEY. They do that song, I'll be all right. You gotta hit the live version l I v e version
You lose Go ahead Listen to the song, I'll be all right, and tell me. Is there a better breakup song? ? Is there a better? Is there A? There will be a better breakup song? I don't think so😅😅😅😅
I'll be all right
BJ- At the recording of so many songs, most of Journey in the 80's was Steve Perry -Lead Vocals, Neal Schon -Lead Guitar, Ross Vallory -Bass, Steve (Machine Gun) Smith -Drums, Jonathan Cain - Keyboards. Neal Schon, Ross Vallory and Jonathan Cain continued (Ross did take a break but is back), with various drummers (my favorite Dean Castronovo and his version of Mother-Father) and their current lead singer.
You both are always so positive with great energy. Thank you for that and your great reactions
I got to see them twice in concert, with Steve Perry here in New Orleans and I was never disappointed
You two bring such joy to my life! When this world gets me down I put on your reactions to escape. Thank you both! Truly beautiful souls. God bless you both ♥️
He was an Opera singer. They let us know back in the 80s. Yes! He has a wonderful voice
I'm an OG...58 yrs old. Saw them 3 times in my teen years in SoCal during the 80's.
I saw Journey on the, “Raised On Radio” tour! One of the best shows ever!!!
Steve Perry can sang 🤣. The music 🎶 we had growing up back in the day. Great memories.
I saw Journey in Fort Worth at the TCCC on April 10, 1980.... opening band was Toto on that tour... absolutely a music memory I will cherish....
Saw Journey and Toto last Friday!
You guys have to check out the journey song, Separate Ways. And it must be with the video accompanying it. And then check out the version by. An all female five-piece Japanese hard rock/metal band, called Nemophilia. Who mimics much of the original journey video. It's a blast and it's so fun to watch. There's also someone who put the two videos side by side with each other. So if you want to react to that one either instead or as well. It's definitely a much watch. I'm hoping that someday that you guys who are amongst my favorite reactors. Will start every once in awhile showing some love. Too many of the Japanese rocking hard rock bands that have been coming out of Japan for a number of years now. Many if not all of them are made up or comprised exclusively of women. Many singing partly or entirely in English. Take care stay safe and be well always. From my hospital bed on Long Island New York. I'm grooving with you guys.
Neal Schon also played for Santana. He is so super talented. The song Mother Father is a tribute to Neal and his life growing up which he co-wrote before Steve joined the band but Steve belts it out with amazing range and talent.
I saw them in 1983 with Bryan Adam's. It's was one of the best concerts. Nothing beats 80s rock in a stadium. Saw Bryan Adam's about 13 years ago and he still rocked. Enjoy the Journey!
I love seeing y’all get down with imo the greatest rock band period. Imma give y’all some hidden gems that some of the most avid fans may not know about from each album. Infinity…Winds of March. Evolution…When you’re alone it ain’t easy. Departure…Precious Time. Captured…Dixie Highway. Escape…Lay it Down. Frontiers…Edge of the Blade. ROR…Happy to Give. Trial by Fire…It’s Just the Rain. Hope u like these!!!
Neal Schon is PHENOMENAL with his guitar solos. Neal used to be with Santana before forming Journey and is the only original member in the line up now. I am jealous that I did not see them in concert when Steve was lead but I have seen them 3 times since.
I saw the Original Journey band Before Steve Perry in 1975 and 76 in the Bay Area where they started. The original band and their music was incredible, When Perry joined it took them to another level but my heart is with the original band.
I saw Journey live 3 times. One of the best live bands ever.
Vocal coaches say that Perry's voice is unique because his vocal tone doesn't change as he goes through the octaves , which makes his voice so pleasant sounding .
Wife here..WOW.., Nobody like them for sure!!!.., My Husband and I are from a relatively small town..,But as children we remember the small store in our town that sold tickets for Charlotte NC shows...The line would be wrapped around the building into the road!!!...Mad props for Neil Shawn and Steve Perry!!!..These Guys are Rock and Roll Royalty!!!..Great Reaction!!!🌹👍🤘
Just your average everyday 80s radio hit. We were spoiled. But I'm grateful to have lived it
Music is from the soul. Music from the 70s and 80s in general was unmatched.
Asia one of my favorite songs by Journey is Lights. Goose bumps. I don't think you've done it yet. Great live version from 78 .
I LOVED JOURNEY GROWING UP IN THE 80'S!!!! ✊️👏🤝
I was blessed to be a young adult during the height of Journey's career and saw them 3 times in concert. Simply amazing. My first and only serious famous person crush was on Steve Perry. Years later, after married and with kid #1, we moved to Hanford in CA, where Perry was born and raised. I did not know this bit of trivia, until we saw him with his family at a restaurant! This happened twice, in fact, and I was able to get his autograph! Still a huge fan. By the way, Steve Perry's 74th birthday was just a few days ago.
Neal Schon is the guitarist and leader of Journey. He was in Carlos Santana's original lineup that he played Woodstock with. Neal and Gregg Roli (Santanas' keyboardist) started Journey after leaving Carlos' band.
he was leader until steve came along steve called the shots.
Tomorrow Jan 22 us Steves Birthday which he shares with his idol Sam Cooke. I fell in love with Journey and Steve Perry at age 11 seeing them on their Evolutuon Tour. From.then on it was seeing them live on every tour through Raised on Radio and Steve's tenure with the band. Then I got to meet Steve working in the music industry with his release of For the Love of Strange Medicine solo recording. Talk about meeting ones Idol I has admired with that voice since my teen years. Also saw him on his tour of that doll record. You can never get enough of his gifted voice and artistry. This song is from the Deoarture record which was tge first Journey produced recording.. The Infinity and Evolutuon recordings that gavd Journey their big sound were produced by Roy Thomas Baker Queens Producer. Gregg Rollie used a metronome on this tune and yes Neal Schon was a child guitar prodigy with Santana and is a legendary guitarist.
I’m 67 been listening to journey from the beginning Steve is from my home town the cover on raised on radio is from our local station
I've never been fortunate enough to see journey live with Steve Perry. They are one of my favorite groups. I don't know what Neal Schon played on this song but he usually plays a Gibson Les Paul but artists trade out with others depending on songs. Neal Schon was in Santana and in Bad English, and the band HSAS. Journey is going to have a 50th anniversary tour and rumor is Steve Perry will make some appearances. I know Greg Rollie is supposed to make some. He was the lead singer before Steve joined. Greg was also in Santana. They had more of a bluesy rock sound on some of their older songs. Walls like a Lady, lovin' touchin squeezin, Mother Father, Hopelessly devoted/ party's over, and Wheel in the Sky are some of my favorite older songs. I'd love to see Steve with journey for the last time. Love your reactions and channel.🤗❤️
The first time I saw Journey was at the Forum in L.A. and my ticket was $18. I have seen them sooooo many times but truly miss SP
I received this song on the 8-Track Tape for my 16th birthday many many years ago.
Ya’ll need to do a whole Journey album reaction!! Their albums are great and have an amazing diversity of music.
"Feeling that way w anytime" Journey there is a live version. It is so good.
Hello good people, I subbed a long time ago and been enjoying what y’all do . I’ve follow every Nf and Angelina Jordan videos not to mention just about all the movie reactions But was hoping that y’all would do a reaction to the artist Ren and his song hi Ren?! Unlike anything y’all have reacted to or seen... I know he blew me away and now everyone is starting to react to him and I’d love to see y’all’s reaction to him! Thank you sir and ma’am!
Hit after hit, can't go wrong with Journey.
You guys still need to do Mother, Father live
Journeys harmonies are some of the best!
"WHEELS IN THE SKY"Journey, Is my favorite,,love from Virginia
