Akechi may be a young detective, but he was pretty stupid to think they would easily trust a cop who made it clear he wanted them caught and left tracks to his betrayal.
And the really nice thing is it really was just luck. Akechi at the time had no reason to know anything about Morgana. I caught that line the first time I saw it with out having any knowledge of the game in advance. I was about to write him off as a red herring until he had said he had only started going into the Metaverse a month or two before he joined up about 5 months after the pancakes comment. I also had almost worked out everything about the intro by the 3rd palace but had concluded the interrogation was going on inside Sea's palace by her shadow not that he had been returned to the real world after capture.
Y'know, I'm actually not that big of a jerk to Akechi, aside from a couple of situations anyways. I kinda prefer to let him think he got us good, and then proceed to slap him in the face by only using standard attacks to defeat him.
