Gameplay wise in P4G and P3P, they had social links acknowledged only during random chats to non active party members in the dungeons.

There’s no reason to skip the day after exams. In this case specifically, it causes you to loose tons of time, at a point in the game that already lacks free time.

That's because this is just the "pancakes" scene that leads to the Valentines Day reveal. While he was locked up the girls had enough time away from him constantly flirting with them to realize the truth. You thought they were all trying to break Joker out of prison for his sake? Nah, just part of the master plan to catch him at his most vulnerable.
Sometimes hearing Yusuke talk about being hungry makes me wish you can just periodically go do the guys grocery shopping. I mean come on how much money do you make in a single Momentos run? There's no reason why Ren can't just be like "alright it's the beginning of the month Yusuke let's go get your groceries".
Kinda wish they somehow squeezed Kasumi in this too. Maybe have her already come in first to study with Joker before the rest arrive? So that they’re all gathered. Yeah I know her confidant levels aren’t high enough at this point in the game for a romantic reaction, but it wouldn’t hurt to have a little tease on her thoughts either way.

In the anime, when Akechi was on his way to the prison, all of Ren’s friends were waiting and hoping. The montage ended with Ryuji making an anguished face while thinking “Akechi...!” and Ryuji’s face looked for all the world like he just came.

That's because this is just the "pancakes" scene that leads to the Valentines Day reveal. While he was locked up the girls had enough time away from him constantly flirting with them to realize the truth. You thought they were all trying to break Joker out of prison for his sake? Nah, just part of the master plan to catch him at his most vulnerable.
