    Thank you for this closer look at the Empress Zita, a remarkable woman who lived an exemplary life. It's clear that her unwavering faith helped her to endure the losses, trials and upheavals of her life. Blessed be her memory.

    Watching videos and reading about the Habsburgs and other royal lines like the Romanovs has changed my mind on quite a few things. Empress Zita is inspirational, as is Blessed Karl. These good people were raised from birth to be leaders and learned from generations of experience. It was in their blood. I can't imagine any president or prime minister coming close. Thanks for posting these stories.

    I had the umeasurably honour of having had the opportunity to be member of a delegation of an Austrian monarchist organisation granted an audience with Empress Zita in the mid 1980s in her then residence of Zizers in Switzerland. While already quite old, it was impressive how she addressed each member of the delegation with some personal remark. My thanks go out to the person organising this, Dr. Karl von Portele and all the members of "Lutetia Parisiorum". I also had the opportunity to attend her funeral as a "Chargierter" of my University Fraternity KÖHV Pannonia. We got soaked in the rain while having to stand outside St. Stephen's in Vienna due to space constraints inside, but it was worth being part of such a historic event.

    Its almost cliche to be derisive or contemptuous of the European royalty of that time, but Carl and Zita have always sparked sympathy from myself. Neither was responsible for the war, but were the direct beneficiaries of its results and consequences. Now..say what you like about the Hapsburgs and I get it, I GET IT..there is a LOT to say about them, but these two representatives of that dynasty at least carried themselves with dignity becoming their ancient ancestral heritage and legacy. Well told, well presented video, thank you for this.

    The couple were never crowned as Emperor and Empress of Austria. They were, however, crowned as King and Queen of Hungary. The photographs of them wearing crowns is of that coronation.

    I knew Charles was beatified and up for Saint Hood I did not know Zita was beatified. What she did as a mom, by the time she was 30 she was a single mother of eight kids and managed to do what she did and honor the life of her deceased husband is certainly amazing. I'm glad she was beatified. And I know her husband has had both miracles for saying hood he's just waiting for the pope to get around to the ceremony. I hope they find miracles on her tooth a they show what a wonderful couple people can be when even if they have money they don't let it take over their life and have to make greedy choices. They were really good people who sacrificed to do what was right

    • @virginiawilliams9998
      @virginiawilliams9998 2 года назад +3

      Zita was declared a Servant of God by Pope Benedict XVI. This is the first step toward sainthood. The next step would be beatification. As far as I know, she has not been beatified. However, as you say, Charles has already been beatified and in due course may be canonized (declared a saint). Maybe even in my lifetime!

    • @ladyagnes9430
      @ladyagnes9430 2 года назад +3

      @@virginiawilliams9998 Yes, Carl has been Beatified, & has the 2nd miracle attributed to his intercession that would be required for canonization. It just hasn't been scheduled but all the requirements have been made. I didn't know that Zita had been listed as venerable or serving of god. She certainly lived a life to qualified for it

    @1:04 The diamond necklace her mother is wearing is the same diamond necklace Zita was wearing in the 2nd or 3rd? Photograph. Must have been a gift to her daughter The Empress. Her mother probably never dreamed her daughter would become Empress. And such a sad chain of events that led to Charles/Karl becoming the Emporer. She is so beautiful ! I love Zita's Natural, darker Italian-Portugese looks.
    Edit: Anybody spot The Kaiser (Kaiser Wilhelm 2) on the very right in The Wedding Group Photo @2:36 ? Asshole. If only they knew that egomaniacal asshole would be their ruin
    Edit Edit: My bad, That's the Archduke Franz Ferdinand, not Freddy Dubs

      @Back To History Yes she was! And to hear that she was kind and friends with Sophie Chotek when all the other more...Aristocratic Titled people were like so disgusted with a COUNTESS and ordered to ignore her at Court or just plain ignore her whenever she was in their Presence. Wow 👌Sounds like a bunch of Party Animals... That Life must have been like Snoozeville no wonder Zita and Charles wanted to live away And I just thought it was a gorgeous necklace,I like reading about old tiaras, Crowns, World's Oldest Tiara from like 5th Dynasty B.C. Egypt (this is not an exact quote but I mean it's old. And gold..But Super Old) but also Tiaras of old Empires,Kingdoms that no longer exist like the Romanovs. I noticed in most of Tsarina Alexandra,Nicholas II wife, in the published pictures she's wearing lots and lots of pearls. Pearl Tiaras,pearl chokers,pearl necklaces, pearl earrings, just dripping in pearls, a Giant Pearl Tiara to "Open The First Duma" which in hindsight seemed a very bad fashion uh choice.... Anyhow I love your videos !

    Zita was the granddaughter of king Miguel of Portugal. Thus also related to her husband Karl who’s grandmother was Queen Maria Gloria of Portugal, Zita’s grandfather Miguel’s niece…..
