First time in All my 73 years, that I'm finding out that Jerry "The Iceman" Butler has a brother and that he sang also, as it was once said, " you never get to old to learn"!!🧐🤔🙄
You see the brothers kinship. Excellent vocals from both. The body language as Billy ends his solo and cuts his eyes and smiles almost sheepishly at his brother. Like see...I can do it too big bro 😊❤
June 7th: Happy birthday Soul Singer-Guitarist William "Billy" Butler of The Enchanters, Infinity and Solo artist (1945-2015) Thank you and God bless. RIP. Thanks for the upload, Venus Clare. Blessings
Thank you - I always loved Billy Butler and it broke my heart when he passed. Got his autograph and picture with him down in Myrtle Beach, SC a couple of years before he left us!! RIP Billy Butler
I always thought it was Jerry that sang the entire song until now finding out about his brother, sound so much alike, at 68 years what a nice surprise!
I always loved Billy Butler, especially his song "I Don't Want To Lose You" and it was always good to see him and Jerry together. This is from the episode of Soul! broadcast March 5, 1970 hosted by Jerry which featured Billy Butler & the Infinity, Vivian Reed, Archie Bell & the Drells, and Muhammad Ali: Also, treat yourself to the live instrumental version of "I Stand Accused" by King Curtis from his "Live at the Fillmore West: (which you can also find on RUclips).
Patti Labelle, Nona Hendrix and Sara Dash provided back up for a couple of the songs on this episode of Soul. You can see them in the background while he is singing Western Union Man.
Met Billy years ago on "Soul" while playing guitar myself with Archie Bell and the Drells. A wonderful person, a great artist, he helped me understand so many things about music, I didn't know...I didn't know. It is funny how one can some another person up in a short span of time. I have always loved Curtis, but Billy had "something" that was different. I love them all and will be looking to see what other Gems pop up. We did not know what we had until now....such is life, (I bet Billy could write a song with that title).
I stand accused of loving you too much I hope, I sure hope it's not a crime 'Cause I'm guilty Oh, I hope that I never have to testify If I do, everyone's gonna cry That boy is guilty of loving you And though you belong to another And I may not stand a ghost of a chance I'll tell the world that I love you And I'm a victim of circumstance That's been proven guilty, oh, yes, I am Did you know one touch of your hand And I find myself on the witness stand Shouting out all over the land Hey, hey, I'm guilty, guilty of loving you I'm guilty but what can I do I wanna hold you
I am literally in tears! So beautiful with Jerry and Billy harmonizing together and I believe Jerry's first record with Mercury Records in 1966 was a duet with Billy called Love(How Sweet it is)!
Also in my 65 years I'm learning about Billy Butler. And I grew up knowing of Isaac Hayes version and thinking it's the original. Really great soul music
April covid-19 2022 Also, back in the day, Billy Butler became Jerry Butler's guitarist and musical director for his touring band when he was popping. Early developing Billy Butler had the Good Fortune of being a Musical Protege under the tutelage of the creative, Master genius songwriter Curtis Mayfield. His guitar playing and voice inflection and tonality is that of Curtis Mayfield. Also behind-the-scenes was producer Carl Davis and musical arranger Johnny Pate that highlighted his Musical abilities in performance. I read the comments posted below and it appears that over half of the readers didn't know Billy was brother to Jerry Butler. I guess that's on par with Billy never being a headline attraction in spite of multiple hits. The man deserves a far greater fate than obscurity. Yeah! I've been rocking with Billy Butler since nineteen sixty-three., his first release "Found true love." and his subsequent follow-up hits. Though he has faded from most memory, his song output Remains as the soundtrack of my soul generation. ... Can U dig-it?
May covid-19 2022 Billy Butler, an immense, gifted young Chicago talent back in the day. Unfortunately, though underrated, and he did not continue on as a top-tier performer, I still sing his praises and acknowledge him as one of Chicago's best of the era and beyond. RIP Billy Butler. You contributed to the soundtrack of my youth.

Billy sounds like a combination of his brother and Curtis Mayfield. He should have been the replacement for Curtis in the Impressions!
I wholeheartedly agree
Absolutely!
This is fire 🔥🔥🔥. Thank you for sharing. Very soulful.
This is CLASSIC TIMELESS...
He was a genius
Obviously, with confidence.
True brothers of real soul music.

I didn't know until 2021 wow

Wow he got paid when Isaac song it ....
I stand accused of loving you too much
I hope, I sure hope it's not a crime
'Cause I'm guilty
Oh, I hope that I never have to testify
If I do, everyone's gonna cry
That boy is guilty of loving you
And though you belong to another
And I may not stand a ghost of a chance
I'll tell the world that I love you
And I'm a victim of circumstance
That's been proven guilty, oh, yes, I am
Did you know one touch of your hand
And I find myself on the witness stand
Shouting out all over the land
Hey, hey, I'm guilty, guilty of loving you
I'm guilty but what can I do
I wanna hold you
Love live performances like these. Jerry Butler didn’t need accompaniment nor music to sing and enchant the world.
How could I have lived this long and never knew nothin' about Billy Butler?! Why did he not have a career as big as Jerry's?
This is so beautiful ❤
I am literally in tears! So beautiful with Jerry and Billy harmonizing together and I believe Jerry's first record with Mercury Records in 1966 was a duet with Billy called Love(How Sweet it is)!
