Glenda, I started this Afghan pattern and it’s beautiful. I’m 72 years old and have crocheted since I was a little girl. I’m fully enjoying this pattern so much. I had used Premier yarn in a size 5 before and loved it. I purchased the #4 yarn straight from Premier. It’s the softest yarn, doesn’t split, this pattern has the straightest sides to it and I’m carrying the yarn up the side like you suggested. I’m a happy crocheter with this yarn and my investment in Clover Armour hooks. Like crocheting through butter 😂
It's very beautiful I like the color of the yarn for for the border. Comes together beautifully.

This stitch would make a lovely Christmas sweater, too! YOu could do the boarder edging for the cuffs and bottom band, as well as the collar.
