Phil Bozeman is the Keanu Reeves of metal, you can't not like him. With the newer vocal style he's been doing recently, it's really made me appreciate the rhythm he has, if didn't surprise me that he liked rap

In my opinion, Phil Bozeman is the pioneer of the low gutteral style of vocals within the deathcore genre. Never heard of anyone doing that type of vocals at that level before whitechapel is around. He influenced so many vocalists in the genre and created a whole generation of vocalists doing those gutteral lows. He's arguably the greatest vocalist in the genre. We all look up to him

I really can tell how much this story means for Phil to tell. I'm hoping the sense of darkness and depression I'm getting from Phil is just because of the subject matter of the song. I'm not gonna pretend to know and feel the same as him. I hate when people say oh I know how you feel I lost someone too. Nobody can know what goes on in someone else's mind. I too have lost my parents as well. My mother to this pandemic. I hope with Phil telling this story it helps him get some of these feelings he lives with every day out and he can find some solace in that. As a Knoxville resident we need you around Phil.

Great in-depth talk. The writing on this album is just amazing, both lyrically and musically. I also really enjoyed the vocal "geek talk". I was goofing with this song and remembered what Phil said about where he "feels" the resonance. With a bit of breathing practice and body positioning, I was able to connect what he meant by in the upper chest and collarbone area as I felt the tone there as well. So much of vocal instrument is visualization and awareness from our other senses. Fascinating stuff!

This is how a reaction video should be done. Getting the artist on your reaction video of their songs is unique and special. It's like you're watching a reaction video and a podcast at the same time which is very fascinating.

maybe that's only my thoughts.... but Phill looks so depressed and calm at the same time. He looks like a man, who already realised his lost, but still miss his parents. Now I know how I look, when I watch at my mother's picture, or video, where she's still alive.Peace

    Keep up the great work!

It's so cool to hear Phil in the beginning talking about how rap influences how he writes his lyrics with the rhythm of the song. Where he just spits the lyrics without his screams. I never thought of maybe writing songs just speaking/spitting it, then adding the brutality on it later on to figure out the flow and tempo that works best! Totally going to try it out! 🤘

Having an emotional attachment to the song, especially lyrically I believe brings out more in a the vocalist who wrote it.

My personal inspirations for getting into doing vocals are Trevor Strnad and Alex Varkatzas. But Phil Bozeman most definitely is the one that inspired me to want to get into doing the deeper heavier stuff. Honestly im a little surprised it wasnt Mitch Lucker cause I practically praise his highs. But my most natural lows is very similar to Phil's. Only mine tends to be less gritty and uses more of my voice which resonates in a really cool sounding way.

My first Whitechapel experience was 16-17 years ago at my local venue Fathom. No one knew who they were but every weekend we’d go to see metal. I had no idea what was in store for me. I was in the pit during the opening band and all the sudden this dude hits the pit and then does a backflip off the stage back into the pit. I was like damn he’s going hard. Then they took the stage and I was like oh shit that was the backflip dude. I was ready to go back to moshing when all the sudden the sounds I heard literally froze me in place and dropped my jaw. I just stood there in absolute awe. I had never and still haven’t had an experience like that at a show. So heavy. So mean. So inspiring. I bought their only shirt which was a black T with Whitechapel written in yellow small on the chest. It wasn’t a flashy graphic but it was my favorite shirt and I wore it until it disintegrated. If you see this, thank you for that night I’ll never forget! Ear to ear

Hearing this from the man himself is really helping me learn how to do it, all I can do now is kinda shouty mids (like Andrew baena), but I'm 90% sure I'm doing it right, because I had to record a remix for band class, so I decided to give vocals a shot (and if it didn't work, it wasn't for a grade) and it didn't hurt afterward
