  • Crafted for an unbelievably low budget from a 20ft shipping container and using reclaimed materials this is a shipping container home like no other.
Shipping Container Houses can often look cold and boxy. After all, it’s made from a cold metal box! This container home however, has been entirely clad both inside and out, with ceiling extensions and panoramic high windows that make the container look and feel much more like a tiny home while also being super insulted!
Owners Paul and Cathy have poured so much creativity into this home. Clever use of reclaimed or self-harvested materials have resulted in a wonderful, character filled house. From the rustic iron-bark counter tops, to the beautiful reclaimed timber doors, this tiny house is packed with exquisite craftsmanship.
This home is off the grid capable with a simple solar set-up and rainwater harvesting, although the house is currently hooked up to grid power. Surrounding the tiny house are lots of wicking garden beds, which creates wonderful gardens amongst the otherwise industrial surrounds, while also producing fruit and vegetables.
With Paul and Cathy doing all the labour themselves and thanks to some hard work in sourcing and reclaiming second hand materials, this amazing shipping container home was constructed for an unbelievably low cost.
We hope you enjoy the tour of this epic shipping container house! To follow Paul and Cathy, you can find them here: www.elementsofcreation.com.au/

Paul and Cathy have created a home that they can truly be proud of. There is so much art and character built into this house, it really is hard to believe it's actually built from a shipping container! The price also blows my mind! It's incredible what they have accomplished here. We hope you enjoy the tour! With Love, Bryce & Rasa

What I love about tiny houses is that everyone designs them for themselves. It's not like regular houses where there are four or five designs and colours for the street/area, and the whole thing alternates between them. You don't get to design your home, or decide on materials in a typical house (unless of you are rich, and hire a design firm). It's lovely to see regular people get a chance to do that.
The only thing that I wonder about is the size of those stairs; each stair is so tall! I hope they have a plan for the future, because as they age they will become much more difficult.

Paul's words, "even though it's a small space, it doesn't have to be a boring space" should be the motto for tiny houses. Very compact and functional space...
For the first time, I feel like this is doable for me...this is an amazing result for USD 13,000. I can afford that.
Beautiful as usual...thank you, Bryce and Rasa.

    • @Dain75
      @Dain75 Год назад +10

I think you could say that about any space. So many typical homes are incredibly boring. Every house looks the same; bi-level, four level split, or bungalow. There are others, but that's what I see the most where I live. I guess they are the easiest and cheapest to make?
It would be lovely if more people had access to an architect to help design their home differently. Even if it's not a massive change, something to make it different from the one across the street besides the colour. More personal. We spend so much time in our homes, they should be places we want to be.

I sincerely doubt that I could spend$13,000 USD, and get a home as great as this one. His cost was so low, not only because he already had the shipping container, but also because he built it himself, he bits of lumber lying around, he is talented in working with wood and he is creative. This is a stunning home that he has built for the two of them. the woodwork is unbelievable, the inlay in the bathroom vanity. This home is gorgeous!

For a metal shipping container home, this tiny home has the most natural wood I've ever seen compared to most tiny houses.

WOW. I feel like I need to say that about ten times before I'll even come close to how amazing this home is. For someone who mentioned a couple of times that he was originally a pastry chef, Paul has certainly become an incredibly skilled wood crafter. There are just so many gorgeous pieces of wood used and shaped in wonderful ways that make this home so warm and welcoming. That kitchen benchtop! My other favourites were the curved shelves and the mast lights. Cathy's artwork is also beautiful and complements everything else so perfectly.
I just about fell out of my bed when Paul said this cost him about $20,000. I was expecting something more like $100k, even knowing there were lots of reclaimed and reused materials. I know that new and quality materials in any art medium can make a difference but I always think that someone who can make something so incredibly beautiful (and functional!) using recycled and budget materials has an extra special type of creativity. I'm so impressed!

Just when I think I've seen my favorite new tiny house, along comes Paul with his craft and incredible vision that manifests itself in this build. I love every little detail. The raised roof with all the windows is a bit of genius to making what I think is a tight fit (20ft) into a perfect small living space. If they gave out awards for best build of the year, this one would be a contender.

This is my absolute favorite in a series of favorites--all of them beautiful, often ingenious, tiny houses. In this one, the wood along with the white interior and high-set windows is spectacular--a real stunner. Bryce and Rasa, thank you for one of the most pleasurable RUclips series on the net.

This is one of the best tiny house concepts I've seen. It's a functional work of art. I love the balance of different styles. The wood is appropriate, not over or under-used, and brings warmth and comfort into the home. I don't use the word, home, lightly. The painting above the couch is gorgeous! For the first time, I could see myself living in a space such as this one.
I wish I would have known about wicking raised garden beds before I set mine up. It's been a challenge setting up the watering hoses. I'm going to look to see how I can convert mine.

This is THE BEST shipping container design I've seen so far! It's made my decision final, I'll be doing a shipping container home on my property and cladding it with sideboard so it doesn't appear as such.
