One of the things that I love about shipping container homes is how they often end up in some truly remarkable locations. This place is a great example of that! I hope you all enjoy the full tour of this stunning off-the-grid home amongst some truly wild New Zealand landscape. Love Bryce & Rasa
Bryce and Rasa, What an absolutely Wonderful episode of Living Big In A Tiny House. It does my Heart good to see people's dreams come into fruition. A spectacular location to be alive and at home. A Big Thanks to Omaze for the Tiny House contest. Woohoo!
It's so nice to see a couple do this who are not in their twenties and who still go out to work in the city. It makes it feel more like anyone could do this rather than like only younger people who work from home.
The millenials didn't discover alternative housing, dear. Today's "older people" are the former hippies who were into alternative housing in the 1960s. Nowadays people of all ages are fed up with high mortgages and wasteful spending. Many retirees are walking away from ridiculous McMansions, jettisoning decades of collectible crap, and finally getting to relax in our old age. P.S. Most of the people in my farm community work in a major city fifty miles away, and have commuted for years. We'd rather see trees when we get home instead of suburbia.
@@lucygray6162 oh sorry, I didnt mean to phrase it as it's only younger people who do this ! Random observation from watching a lot of these videos - Bryce's curly hair is both aesthetically pleasing and performs a crucial function for tall people in tiny houses - it acts like a cat's whiskers and helps him avoid bumping his head on low ceilings. Brilliant.
I love the view and the lightness of the space in this one. My husband has always wanted a beach home on the Gulf of Mexico (Florida panhandle), but there are so many hurricanes. I’ve proposed that we can buy a piece of land and put a couple of tiny houses on wheels, and move them inland when a storm gets close. Wouldn’t be much damage to an empty lot! .
That home is the epitome of the Real Estate adage “Location, location, location”! It could not have been better. NZ seems to be a beautiful country. I hope I can visit some day.
I agree with all the comments, the view is spectacular , the house is well built and this couple lovely. But i agree with the owner also, this is life choice and not an alternative for affordable living anymore with this price tag. They create a new tiny house owner category.

It really fills my heart with joy to see older couples like this one to build their dream house. A great use of the money they've collected their whole lives, and a great investment for a happy retirement. All the comforts and adventures they could ever want. I can see them as rocking 80 year olds, still riding their motorbikes all over their hills and cleaning fresh fish in that sink. Good on them!
In my opinion, the real front entrance is the bi-fold door or the double door even further down. I think the door off the bathroom is really their "back door." I realize the filming and even the welcome mat presented the bathroom door as the front door, but I think most people would look at it the way I described.
As a gardener I like the bathroom being near the entrance, for disrobing grubby clothes, but ya, I'm not sure how that works when you have a group of people over.
She is a natural architect/interior decorator. Everything is thought through and stylish, not one thing was compromised on. Homely and inviting, well done.
I agree Sandrine, I don't think they would have saved much money by starting with a container, perhaps they should have designed something that blended more into the landscape instead.
I must say, the part of the tiny houses I always want to see is the bathroom area and this is so lovely. The view is amazing, the house and the couple are great.

I love this place! Especially the wardrobe. In so many of these tiny houses, people are crawling on their knees to the clothing cabinets and there is no space around the bed to make changing the sheets easy. I love this one level home!
Love your channel Bryce & great to see a young man who is still a gentleman, i notice that you always greet the ladies first. Love the channel, can't get enough. Keep up the great work.
As a fashion lover myself, as soon as the video started I noticed how beautiful Delia's outfit was, and when the closet was revealed I immmediately could tell it was not a coincidence. She sure loves fashion and you can tell as soon as you see her! I just love how ingenious people are when it comes to things they love. Living tiny doesn't have to mean having two baskets and a drawer for a closet, and this tiny house is living proof of that. I loved this design. And say nothing about those views! Gee, I'm a little jealuos over here!
I think the welcome mat and the way the episode was filmed certainly presented that door as the front door, but I think their real front door is the bi-fold door or the double door further down. I'd consider the door out the bathroom to be a "back door," including fish-cleaning sink.
Unusual entry, but it works for them! Would want an opaque curtain in front of the toilet with this, I'd think, but everything is so well thought out! Mesmerizing view. Seems perfect for those who love their dirt bikes! The couple support each other so well. Both seem equally enthralled with the result. So nice to see.
For me, they're really coming in their "back door" past the fish-cleaning sink and into the bathroom. I see the bi-fold doors or the double door as their "front door."
very well thought out and attention to detail. the extra space for the bedroom is great and the walk in robe ! I would love to do this one day. I am wondering what the day to day costs of running this home would be - free electricity with the solar panels, free heating with the wood fire, compost toilet, and rain water tank... would their be no services required??
The gentleman said they don't have a water catch system. Water is trucked in & stored in the holding tank. They may incure occasional fees for solar maintenance, cleaning the wood burning stove exhaust duct & sanitizing the water tank. They said they arranged for land use but didn't mention a lease expense, access road up keep or trash removal.
I wondered about the wood supply myself... I didn't see any trees, so that must be purchased and trucked in for winter (?) -- I was surprised to see a diswasher!
oh, you really don't want a composting toilet. I had one for about 4 years, paid over 2000.00 for it but come to find out unless you put the big containers to catch and mix around and separate the fluids under the house..(over 5000.00 for that) then they just don't work. They eventually smell, get too wet, and it ends up being pretty gross. I have a filter toilet now and I love it. It only cost about $250.00 and the filters are about 75.00 for a box of 3 and each lasts about a week or more for 1 person. I have found a cheaper way to do it though with large camping toilet bags. It's actually less smell than a composting toilet and the $ is a heck of a lot less..
What I love about this is that they've really thought about making this a cosy home for themselves. It has such a good feeling about it. Thank you for sharing!
There would be minimal light pollution from the city, so the night sky would look amazing. You would see the passing ships as it overlooks the cook strait. If you couldn't tell, its open to strong southerly winds and would get very cold.
I have seen hundreds of videos about tiny house. This is one of the best i have ever seen! Many genious ideas especially for the wardrobe, table and TV! Absolutely genius! Will put some of the ideas into my when im going for the tiny house.
With Racquel Calinga. Wow! Wow!wow!wow! This is the place and house I love to live with the rest of my life . It's breathtaking and amazed home. I'm jealous of this house.
This lady is talking about "downsizing" while sitting in her SECOND HOME. (?) Also, what a wonderful view. I like that they used the containers, which means that in the future it can be removed, leaving almost no trace of it being there. Much better than a normal home with a foundation
They did downsize, and it's their house. What is your issue? Of course they still had the apartment when building, did you think they should be homeless??!
my take on this is that on top of the container is solid a deck on top would give you 360 degree view of every thing that would be just amazing view that is the only thing i would add to this house
It's actually very nice and has that home sweet home vibe 😊 the bathroom is beautiful I love the his and hers wardrobe and how it's hidden, all the windows
Stepping right in the bathroom... Hey, I like the idea too! And it's nice if you're doing things outside and just need to use the bathroom and go back out again - no need to go through the whole house! Not bad, not bad...
What a beautiful tiny home and a lovely couple, they're the type you'd want to have dinner and laughs with. I can't believe this place is like 30mins out of Wellington did they say? New Zealand is just paradise
For me, that's really their "back door," including fish-cleaning sink, and their real front door is either the bi-fold door or the double door further down.
Yeah I think it isn't their main entrance and bathrooms is dead space for most of the day so using it as a mud room as well makes use of the space more efficient. I like it.
This house really stands out among all those cookie-cutter tiny houses! I like how the old couple put the bathroom in the doorway to wipe out more mud and sand from outside. I noticed there's only a mud road by the house so this must be the best option for the layout. This speaks a lot for the couple's ingenuity to adapt to the environment.
Such a beautiful and wonderfully designed, crafted and located tiny! This beautiful couple has masterfully designed it to be their own, by completely imagining it the way they truly value, rather than going with conventions! Thank you Bryce and Rasa for bringing it. Also, missed you guys last week. :)

The view and land is everything. Shipping container homes have pros and cons. If they are not built with proper insulation techniques, mold can fester between the interior and exterior walls over time. Great couple.
I would love to retire in that kind of house. Its been my dream to live with nature. Either a province or somewhere greenery is still vibrant. So glad you enjoy our videos! Thanks so much for watching.
The house is lovely and the location makes it heavenly!
$350k NZD is around $230k USD in case anyone was wondering. Outrageously high for a container home, but that house is outrageously enviable.
A truly 5 Star ⭐️ and unique magical home with amazing natural beauty surrounding this place!!
Watching from the Philippines while sipping coffee in a rainy morning
Not really a fan of walking straight into the bathroom but the aesthetic is soooooo there ❤️
I think the welcome mat and the way the episode was filmed certainly presented that door as the front door, but I think their real front door is the bi-fold door or the double door further down.
It's everything a shipping container ought to be. Looking forward to a time when you'll be able to make more and more episodes. Stay safe.
I would love to live here nobody around it beautiful
very well thought out and attention to detail. the extra space for the bedroom is great and the walk in robe !
@@Jillysmom63 you paid 2k for something with no research and didn't read the directions? That's hilarious
What I love about this is that they've really thought about making this a cosy home for themselves. It has such a good feeling about it. Thank you for sharing!
What a breathtaking location 😍 During the day, everything off grid looks so dreamy. Anyone ever wonder what it’d be like at night?
The stars are probably AMAZING ⭐🌠. And the quiet -- so peaceful 😴
I would imagine it being very dark, pitch black!
There would be minimal light pollution from the city, so the night sky would look amazing. You would see the passing ships as it overlooks the cook strait. If you couldn't tell, its open to strong southerly winds and would get very cold.
My favourite time there would be sunrise & sunset. Those glows from the sun setting are just spectacular!!! Absolutely stunning place to live.
Ohhhhhhhh my gosh that location is incredible!
It was such a stunning place to film!
I have seen hundreds of videos about tiny house. This is one of the best i have ever seen! Many genious ideas especially for the wardrobe, table and TV! Absolutely genius! Will put some of the ideas into my when im going for the tiny house.
What a VIEW!!! Oh my goodness - the tiny house was lovely and well thought out but - Wow!!
With Racquel Calinga. Wow! Wow!wow!wow! This is the place and house I love to live with the rest of my life . It's breathtaking and amazed home. I'm jealous of this house.
This lady is talking about "downsizing" while sitting in her SECOND HOME. (?)
Also, what a wonderful view. I like that they used the containers, which means that in the future it can be removed, leaving almost no trace of it being there. Much better than a normal home with a foundation
They did downsize, and it's their house. What is your issue? Of course they still had the apartment when building, did you think they should be homeless??!
Lovely people, amazing views. $350,000 NZ is about $228,000 USD, so it's not so expensive as it might seem. Thank you, Bryce and Rasa!
my take on this is that on top of the container is solid a deck on top would give you 360 degree view of every thing that would be just amazing view that is the only thing i would add to this house
It's actually very nice and has that home sweet home vibe 😊 the bathroom is beautiful I love the his and hers wardrobe and how it's hidden, all the windows
God, those views. That's the dream right there.
Stepping right in the bathroom... Hey, I like the idea too! And it's nice if you're doing things outside and just need to use the bathroom and go back out again - no need to go through the whole house! Not bad, not bad...
I have to tell you that this is the best tiny house I have ever seen. So beautiful.
What a beautiful tiny home and a lovely couple, they're the type you'd want to have dinner and laughs with. I can't believe this place is like 30mins out of Wellington did they say? New Zealand is just paradise
These videos make my day.
Same 💚
These two have INCREDIBLE taste and such good design sense.
This place is a dream..🥰🥰🥰and what a beautiful couple...
the wood accent in the bathroom is very beautiful 🙌🏼😍
That's the real "1 million dollar view", amazing place!
*but the entry on the bathroom tho... that's the only thing i would never expect on a house
For me, that's really their "back door," including fish-cleaning sink, and their real front door is either the bi-fold door or the double door further down.
It’s so beautiful, though! Very creative and breezy looking. That circular mirror and window combination is gorgeous.
Yeah I think it isn't their main entrance and bathrooms is dead space for most of the day so using it as a mud room as well makes use of the space more efficient. I like it.
Maple Leaf makes much more sense to me too, but in the video i believe he says it is the main entrance. Still like all the rest
Curious why and how there are so many tiny homes in New Zealand?
Hi Bryce, I love your channel, living in small city of Singapore where the average unit usually 500sqf, I'm taking many inspirations from this channel
Wow what a location!! I was so drawn to the surroundings I was almost surprised when you asked to look inside, but it is a fantastically designed and furnished home. One of the best I have seen
Oh my goodness! What a breathtaking view wow, I would soooo love that sitting on the deck over looking those georgios mountains having my morning coffee! ❤❤❤❤ ☕
The view and land is everything. Shipping container homes have pros and cons. If they are not built with proper insulation techniques, mold can fester between the interior and exterior walls over time. Great couple.
Eee, good to know
The location is breathtaking, but I don't like the idea to enter the house, and standing right away in the toilette.
They did a phenomenal job with this house! The light colors, clean lines, and real furniture make it extra homey.
Beautiful! Love the doors. Interesting concept of entering through the bathroom
I would love to retire in that kind of house. Its been my dream to live with nature. Either a province or somewhere greenery is still vibrant. This kind of home makes me happy from morning till night. This is not a tiny house,it is a tiny HOME. Very relaxing and welcoming home. Thank you for this vid. I kept watching vids like these and makes me want to live in those tiny homes instantly.
Talk about that VIEW! Gorgeous!!
It sure is!
This location looks like the best camping spot ever and they get to LIVE there!
That's the ultimate shipping container home!
They have done a top job building that.
Those views though!
Loving her jewellery collection/hanger.
This might be the best container home I’ve ever seen 🤘🤘🤘🏴
I really love the idea of fixing a television n a customized closet.....this is truly a dream house, good luck Delia n Brent
They didn’t get that 5-star accomodation, but they’re under a million stars! 🤩😍
I do watch a lot of other tiny house series as well ,but the ones Bryce comes up with is always so unique.Evertytime i think i have seen the prettiest /most beautiful ,Bryce comes up with another outstanding video.
I guess to be fair enough Bryce leads the way when it comes to Tiny house series!!
Absolutely beautiful! And so are they! This is one of my favorites!
I've watched all of your tiny house coverage and I can say THIS couple has the most fantastic view! I am incredibly jealous of what they see everday there. I'e done mountain climbing and the views are always stunning especially sunrise and sunset. Seeing those moments in that house, that must be soooo amazing!!! Thanks for the lovely couple sharing their home to us and your checking it out, Bryce! ❤
