I remember I saw this show when I was in sixth grade and I finally finished it now because my dad didn’t allow me to finish it and it feels like something changed It went from monster of the week episodes to psychological torture and is weird to remember when I just saw this show as a cool robots vs monsters. I love this show
What’s sad is that they were just kids and had to be put through all of that trauma. Ik it’s an anime but the thought of it happening in real life is terrifying
It make me realise it is possible I can be free from human ego but just don't know how, maybe transcending to death as whole consisting of those I love if they all too love me back.

And if in the mind of Shinji has peace, that's is actualy fine, but everything else suffer (like Rei or Asuka)
Evangelion is beyond cosmic horror, it is downright terrifying. It's themes both esoteric and lovecraftian while painfully real and grounded in the experience of these tortured characters.
