I forget what america thinks is ancient. I'm born and brought up in England,uk ,ancestors from scotland ,wales ,england so its interesting to see a new country . i can't travel anymore, so i use tv and internet to travel
My Father built the house on the hill, I visited the cemetery often and helped Dad rebuild the walls around his property in the 80's. We found many interesting things in his fields around the house. Dad was Allison R. Schleicher. I live in Tennessee but came from Montclair, N.J. Alford was our summer home.
I am very impressed with this video because is done so differently from other cemetery videos. the fact that the stones are shown and read is what viewers actually like to see and the drone views of where we are exactly is perfect. Thanks for your efforts on this.....
Many of historical grave yards are restored. Many receiving Grants to be able to do it. There are skilled cleaners groups that will gather and help when they hear a project can proceed. To me it is respecting and telling their stories.
I grew up in Osterville, next to Centerville, during the 70's. Never went through that cemetery but drove by it a million times! So much appreciate your video and reading the head stones. Interesting that the women's stones showed how young they were when they died, and I'm guessing maybe child birth was the contributing factor. Have you ever done a video on the design on head stones? Maybe you have and I haven't come across it yet. Just found your channel today!
I have not done a video about the designs, although a lot of people comment on that. I will have to research them and see if I can put together a video. The designs are amazing, albeit rather macabre. Thanks for watching :)
I think they are mostly replacements. The really old ones you can't usually read. I prefer seeing the original stones but it's also nice to be able to read them. I wonder how many of the original stones were stolen.
Go visit the little cemetery on So. Egremont Rd., Alford, Ma. Very very old graves--Just outside Gt. Barrington. The house across the road on the hill was mine. I miss it so

That's an ancient cemetery thanks for sharing
It is amazing how nice most of these headstones are, the people of these cemeteries really know how to keep proper care of them.

Great tour!! You at least stop to read the grave markers unlike others who tour cemeteries. Great video!👻
Thank you! Reading the old headstones is the best part!
Fascinating... All of them. But I wonder how many of those stones are original, and how many are re-creation replacement's?

I will keep that in mind thanks 😊
It is a very old area and folks were there way before we become a nation--in those hills, that far west.
Very lovely cemetery🪦
I love to wander Mass cemeteries. I need to take a trip back there. I do cemetery walkthroughs too.
My grandfather's name was Lemuel. It rhymes with Samuel. You will probably find it again in New England graveyards.
I will add that to my notes. Thanks :)
There's ALOT of ancient cemeteries in Massachusetts Ipswich Boston etc tfs Newburyport too
Is there any way you could film old gravesend cementy in brooklyn
I will add that to my notes, I may be in NY this autumn season.
