Confession: I saved the banger shots for the forth coming iPhone 11 Pro / Alberta video I am making. HOT DAMN! Enjoy this delicious cup of BTS though, we brewed it just for you :)
Cannot wait to check it out!
Happy International coffee day!
Legit used the same song in a vid I made for work recently. So dope.
Literally live an hour from Canada, teach me to one wheel and be a great videographer! Haha 😉
Hey Pete, just wanted to say thanks for always letting me know the year. I almost thought it was 2018 but you said 2019 and was like your right it is 2019. 😊
Camera. Coffee. Canada.
Describing Peter Mckinnon in three words
Coffee, camera, BBBWWaht's up? And then Canada haha
You must forgot Ford.
Don't forget Canon..

JMendonca lol yup
That red footage is jaw-dropping 😲 Love this video
It’s cool to see other creators supporting other creators 🙌🏾
Yeah
Yet your a7iii footage comes out the same.. 🙌🏼
Peter is stepping up his game even further???? How is that even possible? This was sick!!! Love the BTS and the camera angles and the explanation behind it. I thought I was in inception for a second... Just magical! That's why YOU ARE Perter McKinnon! Well, you were born to be in front of the camera, you are natural. You don't just have vast knowledge, but you are incredibly talented and beyond entertaining! Please never stop!!
Perter!!!
Best line from the video: 3:26
“This probably doesn’t need to be in 8K...?”
Every time I watch you interacting with people, I cant help but see how genuine and nice you are. Ah Canadians!
Ryan Schneider VLOGS I think that’s part of what makes him so successful. He’s a visionary but also a team player. That’s pretty rare.
@@ThisDesignLife I agree... and a lot of YTers when they get all the attention and fame, you can see a shift in their personalities.. Not Pete!
Pete is a part of the 2% of filmmakers that can actually say, "I mean I guess lets just drop to 6K."
All the kool kids are doing it now 😂😂😂
@@RalphBucci drinkin Kool-aid with his bois
So dope!!! I would’ve been freaked out running that ronin+red on that rinky-dink boat... But those shots were monaaay!!!
I just love how you integrate the ”ads” in you films, that’s the way it should be done 👏
I always feel like I'm hanging out with Pete when I'm watching his videos. Would love to actually hang with him one day!

Same here
hang out or hang? Your choice
Cinematic sequence checklist:

b. slow-motion
c. epic music
c2. epic location
d. tight depth of field

Just wanted to say, i love this type of content from you Pete...alright, that's it. Appreciate the vid
Thanks!
Totally agree! As a videographer and Content Creator, this is exactly the type of content I appreciate watching! Nice to get a more ”raw style video” from you as contrast! :)
“Probably a tea drinker anyway....”
🤣🤣
Lol had me rolling too. But all jokes aside, I love tea 👀
Tea drinkers do it better ;)
@The Tom White Tea lover is here
@@punjabiurduhindipoetry9544 you can never have enough Tea!!
Yeah I also tend to bring a film crew and $60,000 worth of equipment with me when I make coffee.
And just make one coffee for MYSELF
Way more than 60k worth equipment there for sure.
I had the same thought. 👍
Perhaps the title should be How to shoot a cinematic sequence with a film crew?
I was hoping to see how it could be done if you are a one man band
what is the camera he used to make the video?

Me:
Ready to master cinematic videography
Peter: I was going to show that but decided you should see how awesome it is to have a video team and travel to amazing places. Now that you are fully invested in this video, here is your cinematic sequence
I swear basically have an entire team of people who already are basically already pros at what they're doing with perfect equipment lol
Yeah it's gonna be a looong as road...
I am in love. Basic shots. The key is you know what you are gonna do and then edit it into.
The leaves are turning and the backdrop looks amazing
I LOVE FALL!
THIS was the video that got me pumped enough to take the plunge into this medium. I've been an illustrator, Art Director, Creative Director/Agency Owner and NOW I'm in the process of becoming a film guy. WHY did I wait so long????? JUMP!
13:53 is one of my favorite frames of all time. That is all.
Chris hey dude, love the PM collabs 😀
I was thinking the same thing. And the grade on it looks so great
New RUclips Profile Pic?
Anyone else wanting to see another Chris and Peter colab video
So you basically went to a remote island just to make coffee !!!
and also Canada is soooo Beautiful !!!
Dude, the rawness off this is amazing.... it's almost like you're just a normal human and not an epic Canadian film god lmao
After 2 years and even being on less than 200 subs, Peter’s enthusiasm still gets me hyped for RUclips!
Predicting that 13:50 is going straight into Peter's intro sequence! And that North Face's sales will increase haha
I Just bought North Face jacket last week because of pete......my bank account is crying right now
ਸੁਖਦੀਪ ਗਿੱਲ haha
Peter ... you have inspired us to start(again) our RUclips channel. We have amazing content but didn’t know how to put it together. I appreciate what you do!!!!
Yesssss I’ve been wanting to see something like this!! 🙌🏽
“It probably doesn’t need to be in 8k” ... 🙃
lmao
Peter, your videos are so inspiring!! Thank you for always sharing!
0:20 Pete definately looks as if he's a really big help pulling that boat up lol
I just love the advertising alter ego 😂😂🤣
Who else thinks SquareSpace Pete should do an episode?
Coffee, Cameras, Canada, and Friends = AWESOMENESS.....great vid man! Great job Peter!
4:00 Holladay was wearing Pete’s jacket. That’s some serious bromance mate.
Auduacity 😁
am watching this and having my morning coffee and working on my videos in the office, I swear it made me have feeling as am shooting there with you guys. Thanks for inspiring me to go and shoot more and edit and learn learn learn.
always great to learn from the master himself B-Roll extraordinaire
We got about a FOOT of snow here in in Banff/ Calgary yesterday!!
Peter McKinnon Deserves His Own Netflix Original!
The color grading of this video just makes me warm and fuzzy inside. , SWEET!!!! ☺️
I hate how my brain thinks the final edited footage is really how it looks when you film it in the beginning. It holds me back so much.
Max's moves. wow.
I give up moving my camera, and just do everything with key frames and position/scale in Pr. He's inspired me to try again.
I’m small creator who love to watch your video cinematic, b-roll love all your video 😍
I just love the raw and natural feel of the video!!!
This dude can put “DP on a Peter McKinnon Coffee Sequence” on his resume now
Peter and the team makes anything look good.
The squarespace scene was absolutely priceless. I lost it when you started mocking yourself 😂
Peter, I am a 57 year old, 30 year veteran Gaffer and amateur photographer in Atlanta who has basically left the business to start doing my own thing. I really like the way you teach with humor, a bit of tech, some artsy thrown in, etc... I also like that you are showing what work and effort it really takes to create awesome sequences, maybe and unfortunately, shattering some hopes based on some of the comments below. People need to remember that you are a professional. Thanks for your good advice, after all these years in the biz I am learning new things and getting motivated.
I'm always curious about metrics that no one talks about:
1: How much time was spent on location?
2: How much film time is there?
3: How many hours went into editing?
Just numbers that I'm always curious about.
simple. it's a LOT
@@bagasagung1097, Of Course, it's a LOT. I'm curious about the specific numbers. How many hours does it boil down to? It's just a metric I wonder about.
for two people probably a full day's work
How long is a piece of string..? Creative time can go on forever. But you do what you can at each stage in the time available - trying to make the best of each step in the gestation, nursing, birth, and delivery, of your artistic meisterwerk..!!
I simply love the SFX! Beautiful how it turned out in the end!
Liked this more raw style vid, good stuff man :)
4 guys filming a making of a cup o coffee on the side of a beautiful lake, that's dedication and passion.
OMG!! Square Space Pete had me laughing so much!
I loved the “‘Dad’ Joke” from the “questions w/ Dad” video when it ended HILARIOUSLY w/ your dad and tea convo....
Who else is ready for Peter to do a full length feature film 🙋🏾♂️
Love Peter on RUclips but to watch a full length feature in slow-mo? It'll take a week to watch!
Indeed. He can do his little videos about basics of how to operate a camera and do this or that. Otherwise he has no knowledge, imagination or anything that it takes to make something else than a youtube video. He is fun, tho. I like him, but he doesn't even know what is cinematic, who's a filmmaker or how to light something, how to get an actual movie like footage.
When he makes a so called "cinematic" video and you see a pointles shot about making coffee in slow motion, you should really know that he has no actual knowledge. BUT STILL, HE IS FUN.
WE and I don't have problem with his videos, I watch them because it's fun.
He is like a guy with a car who likes to drive fast and still he wouldn't be a good racer. We know that.
Shane Carruth can do a feature with a camera nowhere near as good as that. Still that's a movie, that looks like a movie. He is a filmmaker.
Peter is not a filmmaker, he is a youtuber. He can't record just a single shot that's cinematic, because he doesn't know how to do that.
@@moo8698 Idk if that's totally fair. I agree with you in that most RUclipsrs would be relatively useless when it comes to a full production movie set but someone like Peter, is still a pro in his trade and I'd wager he'd learn super fast if thrown into that environment. Yeah he makes pointless and short cinematic sequences but the dude definitely understands location scouting, the importance of framing and how that affects the viewer, and he is on top of his tech game. These are all base level skills you need for full length features. So I agree, at present, Pete's no filmmaker, but that's not his platform, RUclips is. He excels at his platform. It would be interesting to see him expand and create actual short films with actors, sets, and the whole thing. It would be nice to see him as a beginner and how he moves through the process
@@moo8698 I think that's a little harsh. I think Peter's got a considerable visual eye, and knows how to capture a great visual, and, indeed, how to create one. Of course film-making is far more than pretty pictures, but I am sure that Peter, given his evident talent, considerable charisma, and sheer likeability, could steer his career that way if he wanted. But, clearly, he's very happy using his skills and talents as he does - and brilliantly, and selflessly, trying to help others get half as good he is.
@@moo8698 damnnnnn the shade is crazy. Boy was that long comment excessive and unnecessary. Please point us to your excellent work so we can judge you accordingly smh
Very Cool. And spinning on the coffee grinder was beautiful. This video gave me lots of ideas to put in my tool bag. Now I have to put em to use. Thanks
Title: How I Film a Cinematic Sequence
Video: 10 minutes of how I tried to make coffee in the wind
It's behind the scenes bro
Foookin hell, the amount of energy you have to do this is friggin amazing
You don't really appreciate a stabilizer until someone whips out a holiday cam.
Over Clock Motors lol
Talk about providing value. Thank you, man! This is the most epic AeroPress cup of coffee on the planet!
Woah, so good! I made a cinematic vid last weekend too, but it is sooo contrasted to this. I think I'll just stay here and appreciate this a few more times😊
Well that's the best coffee run I can think of. Wonderful fall colors.
Love how everything looks on a red!
That image is insane!
I absolutely love that we are not only watching you film, but getting a raw behind-the-scenes look 😍😍😍
The 5 C's of Peter:

Canada

Love love love the bts and the two McKinnons one scene.
I was just watching the b-roll batlle when I got a notification about this new video!
I have to say, the music was well selected! Made all the difference in the world. Great job!
📈Almost 4Million subs!! no wonder why! Love your videos Pete! 💙
It was good to see these behind the scene videos.
You know, when all of your shoots looking so natural and blending in so well with the story, it feels like wow man, I can do it in a day! But when I try it, it looks nothing like that, and I spent way more time on it I dare to admit.
Now, I am not in the RUclips game (I only tasted it for curiosity) but in the software development one. But still, it feels the same. When I forgot about time, and I spend a week on something I planned for 2 days (worst case scenario, 2 days) I feel like, "what is wrong with me?".
But anything that is quality takes time.
Thanks Peter for sharing some real-life footage :D
That color grading is making me feel good
I love coffee and cameras = ALL I NEED IN LIFE.
Haven't seen Petwo McKinnon for ages!! :-D
Just imagine being able to shoot stuff like this with peter. Just having a great time with some great people. Peter just looks like such a fun and wholesome guy.
Peter looks so cute while so called "flossing"😍😍😂😂
My favourite kind of videos.... I wish i had that kind of friends who makes those dope BTS with me.
1:09 I was drinking tea when I watched this
me too, milk tea to be exact
You were spot on with the tea-drinking dad.
That moment when Peter's twin brother came out of the wood was hilarious 😂.
What's his name? PeNerd?
Your awesome man.
You make the only square space ads that I don’t fast forward through. 👍🏼
The title shoud be "How we film a cinematic sequence" hahahaha
I love Peter tho ❤️
"Can you wait with the mauling"

Oh my...the Peter the Plug double sequence... brilliant 😂🤘🏾

THE MUSIC DRIVES ME CRAZY !!!!!
Been jumping headset on alone in front of my screen !

thanks guys..it motivated me a lot and yeah i am not giving up
I love it when you do these behind the scenes. It makes it feel like doing quality cinematic video work is within my reach. Thanks!
By the time I type in "FIRST" and refresh... another 20 coments pop up. LMAO

Why would you comment that?
If I had to die and haunt somewhere and be there forever, that beach would do. Man that place is indescribably beautiful.
get buried in the Canmore old cemetery - great view looking west... my great grandmother is buried there, saw her headstone for the first time this summer. :) AND - you can haunt the Holiday Inn Express that's about 150m from it...
Peter: I can't shoot in 6k it crops.
Me: shoots APSC 1080p
That square space party was actually legendary, the way you integrated the story you told into the vlog, so damn good.
Me After watching Peter Mckinnon video..
“I dont care i have Canon 600d with basic lens..just grab and lets roll the video”
I have a Nikon D500, which isnt great for videos, but I think what makes a big big big difference is having access to a quality gimbal. I don't know from personal experience though, but all of my videos come out extremely shaky because I have some super shaky hands.
That color grade sets it all on FIREEEE
Looking at the steering/acceleration knob of this tin-boat and thinking: "Is this RED knob??"
LOVE the colors in this! I enjoyed watching this video. Love the BTS stuff.
Camt remember when I was this early
Y’all are awesome! You guys put your best into it! Max it looks like your in your natural habitat in this one!
Never clicked a Peter McKinnon vid this fast
