It's hard to believe a few years ago this wonderful voice gone.
But a miracle happened and we are experiencing this each time we hear this great lady.
Always in tune never a bad note.
Love Allison 💓💓 forever.
finally a vocal angel singing the true original lyrics.
A Louvin Brothers classic . Brilliant love it
Alison is the only woman i know of who gets better looking as she gets older.great as always and what a killer band.
Sorry, but Alison did not make it on her looks. She made it on her personal merit, i.e. years of hard work to hone her great talents. Looks rarely enter into a real musician's (as opposed to a pop singer's) success. Alison's is based on extraordinary fiddle playing and a beautiful dulcet voice. Grownups judge you on what you can do. Teenagers judge you on how you look. True, she isn't hard to look at, but still...her good looks are an asset but *not* an accomplishment. Her ability IS. Sam Bush is a marvelous mando player, and he gets respect for that, not his great lookin' curly hair. Alison deserves the same.
Emmylou
@@fancifulfilly Lighten up!! That is not what the poster was getting at. Your comment is out of line. GHEESH!!
she is stunning both musically & looks
Yep, Emmylou too❤
Alison Krauss is the best!!!
Man that girl can SING!
AMEN
Talk about an all-stars band!
Thank you so much for sharing this! I am only just now discovering this performance of her's and I love it! The look on her face as the song ends is like the cherry on top because she looks like she is about to start laughing. (big smile)
God bless you and the angel always!!!
Holly in East Tennessee (a fan of her for 25 years now)
She's such a beautiful woman.
Really love this, my kind of music, really swinging. And I love Alison anyway. Great!
Awesome voice
Who in the world would give this a thumbs down? Obviously they don't know what real music is!
Always loved this Louvin Brother song, Alison does a good job on it, with the cream of Nashville cats and kitties. I perform it myself on occasion in a Chuck Berry-ish rock and roll way ;)
I'M hoping she includes this song on her next album
It's hard to beat Alison Krauss.
Dolly Parton's version is the best rendition of this song . She gives the song the true time period and location . Authenticity that's what gets you .
Superb! Thanks a million.
Alison sounds good in plaid
I agree, Is that the Steward plaid?
John S. Allison would sound good in a potato sack😎
@@capnbobretired I believe that it a Wallace tartan.
27 Grammy awards don't lie.
PERIOD!! Would have been the all time leader years ago if they didn't cap her at 27 so Beyonce could catch and surpass her. Stupid music industry!
A new direction.... I love it... slapping time...
Simply the best.
Wow!!
Alison makes this song her own. I've heard versions from Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton and they can't touch this version by Alison Krauss.
Love this version, but must also mention Emmylou..she's great too
soooo goood
Fantastic performance! Who is that on the piano??? Amazing! Update: found out it's Matt Rollings.
I thought she changed the melody of the verse because I'm familiar with Gram Parsons version. Then I listened to the Louvin Brothers version and realized that Gram changed the melody, just a few notes but enough to sound different for his version.
awesome
Sublime.
just great!
WOW , BRILLIANT SHURE IS SOME WOMAN ,RAY TWELVE STRINGS U.K
Queen A,!
From Ira and Charlie Loudermilk. They were cousins of John D. Ali does this up great. The band, well just listen.
I love this gal... BUT...
She has perfect pitch... nails every note to perfection. In Country, Bluegrass, slides and slurs are how it's done.
This song needs em.... she tries, but her natural abilities take over.... It's interesting to hear her try.
You said it, she has perfect pitch. She can't help but to sing straight and on pitch. It's very difficult for her to sing any other way. It's the way her ears are trained and her brain is wired. That's why she's Alison Krauss!
Sam bush on the mandolin!!!!
Alison Krauss I love you, Alison!! Marry Me and make me the happiest man alive!! (For, at least, the first 18-24 months.)
Sam Bush, Buddy Miller, Sarah Watson, Don Was, ... Jiminey Cricket!
Vow!
TURN UP SAM!
Who's singing backup
Cash on the Barrelhead is a Louvin Brothers song.
I'm guessing Alison would tell us she was inspired by Suzanne Cox' version on their 'sort of recent' release (which Alison helped produce...twice).
200 years from now, humanoids will still be consuming Alison Krauss.
@Alison Krauss I'm good friends with Phil Madeira from the Red Dirt Boys. Friends with Will, Chris and Bryan, too. I know Emmylou a little bit. I'm blessed. Thank you for being such a great example of what a virtuoso a roots musician can be. Your voice is a bell twanging! You have inspired many.
Wow, Sam Bush, Sara Watkins... anyone else we ought to know about?
Don Was - bass, Greg Leisz - dobro, Buddy Miller - acoustic guitar
Why can't I hear Sam Bush's mandolin? Good grief.
Firstly who are the 24 assholes that down voted this?
PM
Great version. But Louvins are the closest to perfection.
Not awful, but The Louvin Brothers and Gram Parsons both did this tune way better than Krauss. Seems an odd choice for her.
The rhythm just ain't right for me, too slow and dragging. I guess I'm too used to hearing the great Gram Parsons version which is so right and kicks ass. These guys are sounding like a boring downloaded rhythm track or a rough rehearsal warm-up, even though I know they're good players.
My thoughts exactly. I've always wondered what the rest of that Parsons show sounded like.
Agree with this comment.
