I remember my 25th birthday like it was a year ago (because it was). I opened a bottle of wine at midnight, drank one glass, and then went to bed. And I cried. Not because I expected big things and people throwing a surprise party. None of that. I just tend to beat myself up about all the things that I should've achieved, had done, what kind of person I wanted to be, and how much it differs from who I am. In the morning I went to my classes and that was all.
My 26th birthday was better. I just think I need to fuck off from myself.

I spent my 22nd birthday alone this year. Like most years. On the 4th of July too, I was so depressed I legit just stayed inside all day. Since it's a holiday it's never been about me, I've never spent it with friends because they're usually busy, I live states away from all my siblings, have zero contact with parents, and my grandparents go on vacation every year and don't spend it with me. I didn't even do a cake or candles, or anything special for myself lol. The longer I go without anyone actually caring about me, the less I care about myself too. It's just been building and building over the years of constantly being put last, so now I don't even value myself. I hope I get into a relationship so I actually have a reason to care about life and get up in the morning.
I’m sorry you’ve had such an awful time surrounding what should be a beautiful celebration. making friends as an adult is so hard. being alone and being content in that is so hard. I hope your next year is a better one, and that you both find good community and fall in love with the one you provide yourself 🤍

I've watched your birthday videos for a few years now, you've always been so relatable! Probably because we're also the same age. I was happy too to turn 25 this year and all in all I'm feeling much better than I used to ever since I finished high school. A few months ago I started working more deeply on myself, to get myself out a slump that was going on for too long; and part of that also included going back to journaling! Idk, but getting to the end of a day and just take your time to write about it and reflect upon it on a journal is really fun and useful. Happy birthday! Even though is a bit late ahahah I wish you a good year of even more growth and happiness 💗

I turned 37 this year and can confirm that getting older is the best. I started a small business I’ve been dreaming of forever, and met a new rad friend which is a rare and sacred occurrence. Also the older I get, the less I care about my birthday. I see getting older as a privilege, and now choose to celebrate by just doing all of my favourite things in one day. A lot like you did. Hike, ramen, fancy groceries, etc. And you even found a cat! That’s surely the universe congratulating you on the person you’ve become and are becoming.

Turning 25 in a month and It’s so good to know that you’re also experiencing the same growth that I am, like our prefrontal cortex is fully developing and it’s so amazing to realise what true maturity feels like! I might need something more specific than that lol, but in general: you are so young. the best parts of your life have yet to even begin, and you can take your time getting to them. this is supposed to be a messy and stressful period, where you’re still discovering who you are and what’s best for you. don’t expect to have all the big things figured out now, and set your focus on your future, when you’ll have the stability and knowledge to achieve better things 🤍
