I always wash before wearing brand new clothes and then hang dry indoors for the first 3 - 4 washes depending on the material. Then I may use the clothes dryer on low only after the fourth wash to see how it does w shrinkage and shape. My grandmother used to own 5 textile mills in the clothing district in NY and she ALWAYS warned us to wash your new clothes and linens after purchase! The factors to consider are: it’s a dusty factory, machinery make certain dust, ink can run on your skin and then you absorb it when sweating, and every factory has some type of rodents that are running around. Think about that next time you buy clothing or linens. 💡 Thanks for your informative video Dr. Dray.
I never washed clothes before wear until I had kids. Now we wash everything before using it. Clothes manufacturing is not a clean business and lots of dust, debris, excess dye, who knows what on the fabrics. For sensitive skin I think it’s a good idea!
Try getting older and see all the scammers out there. They took advantage of my mother in laws growing dementia to rob her of all their savings, before we finally took over her finances. It is shameful how easy it is for them to get away with it. Now that I am in my senior years not a day goes by with out a call trying to scam me. And yes to washing before wearing. I worked in retail clothing for years and I can tell you I would never wear right off the rack! yuck.
Yep, I wash new clothes 100% of the time before wearing it w/ my free & clear detergent. I have super sensitive skin that’s prone to rashes and if I don’t do this it usually causes a flare up for me!
I always wash my clothing, towels and bedding before I use them. I use fragrance free laundry soap, no fragrances in my cosmetics or skin care. My skin is very sensitive. Take care everyone 🌻
I got scabies a few years ago and tracking back, i'm pretty sure it was from trying on clothing at a discount retailer. It was horrible so I no longer try on clothing at these stores, I order online and return to store and wash all clothing before wearing. I know it's rare to contract scabies this way, but it's made me be very careful!
My fave sunscreen went from $7.97 CAD in the summer to $12.97 CAD by the winter at Walmart. They’ve recently rolled it back to $9.97 but man it’s wild how much they’ve price gouged things.
I agree! I found that out yesterday, I went shopping for thing s I haven't bought in a few months and could not believe how much the price jumped up, unbelievable!! I actually left with nothing kind of depressed. I will have to research for something more affordable Ugh!!!!
@DrDrayzday get a Vitamix blender. They are the absolute best. I'm still using mine that belonged to my grandma from the 60's. Makes perfect smoothies, makes hot soups, all sorts of nut butters, you can even make juice from whole fruits and vegetables. You can even grind whole grains for flours. The possibilities are endless. The older version has blades that can be used for wet or dry. The newer ones you'll need separate containers, one for wet and one for dry. Oh, and Costco usually carries them online.
i love how Dr. Dray isn't afraid of scrutinizing the unfair prices of some skincare products, and offers cheaper alternatives for those who can't afford luxury brands. i know it's literally her job, but still😂 she's a saint
The Vitamix is hands down the best I’ve had mine for 10 years! Yes I do wash all new everything I got eczema 2 years ago that didn’t clear up for 3 months a nightmare! Only tiny flare ups now i follow everything to prevent it ever happening again.
I always wash my new jeans inside out before wearing them, inside out preserves the color. If you don't the dye can possibly get on your furniture or anything with fabric. I also wash all under garments before wearing and sheets and towels before using them. P.S. I love your Channel and valuable information. Thank you!
I'm the same when I see holiday merchandise in the stores! I always wash new clothes before I wear them. You never know who tried them on before you bought them and you don't know how clean they keep their hands/body. Also, my mom taught me that there are often chemicals from the processing of new clothes that could irritate your skin. Yes, I could hear that weird clicking/tapping noise from the hairdryers. Love your content!
Just read that Sprouts is closing 10 of their locations that have large physical footprints (keeping all of the rest of their stores with the smaller footprints) because the larger ones are underperforming. But they plan to open 40 new stores with the smaller footprints in locations not yet disclosed. It sounds like they can run the smaller ones more efficiently. Maybe they’ll open up one of those near you!
woah I had to do a double take on that Neutrogena brow pen's price tag at $16.99 😅 I know that they hike the price to combat people using rewards and coupons to knock the price down at checkout, but still, it's wild to see these drugstore brands reach more mid-range prices *Edit:* I wrote this before I got to the Olay section! Holy cow 😱 And to think I was going to recommend you test their new eczema cream and mineral sunscreen... I had no clue that they were charging _50 dollars_ for them. And I thought Olay was heading in a more affordable route with some of their new releases. That's so out of touch it's unbelievable
They will probably release them in double packs in Costco soon at half the price. I’m sure someone will review it soon regardless of the price ….I know I wouldn’t pay 50 dollars though, so I’m with you there
The Ninja Pro blender is amazing! The only downside is you have to be super careful handling the blade - I recommend washing it by whirling some hot water and dish liquid in the carafe and then rinsing off the blade and letting it air dry.
Yes Dr. Dray!! I am drawn into the grocery store displays 🙌🏻😁 At our flower shop we would get overly excited to climb the rafters for the next holiday decor. Your so cute!!
I switched to fragrance & dye-free laundry detergent a year ago and it made a difference- far less skin irritation for me and my dog, too. I launder his blankets often :) Oh & yes, ALWAYS launder all garments before wearing. When I was a kid my legs were really dark blue - thought I was sick. Turned out my mom got me new jeans and didn’t wash them first lol.
Be careful with the Blentec if its starting to smell like smoke! The first cafe i worked at had one, and it started to smell like that after a while. Apparently the motor was overheating, which started to dry out and burn up the gaskets at the bottom of the pitchers. It actually shredded up little bits and pieces of one into a drink i made one day
So sad your Sprouts is going out of business! I would be devastated if my local location closed down. I shop there all the time. I was just there yesterday. Keeping my fingers crossed🤞🏼 they stick around for a while. Especially now that i noticed they are now selling raven's brew cofee. Been obsessed with that coffee. Good luck on finding a new blender. I agree that today's appliance's lasting power is not great. I wish they lasted longer like my grandma's appliances that still work after decades. Great shirt. 🌵💚
You brought up skin allergies with dyes. For months, I had an itchy rash around my belly button that popped up periodically. I discovered the button on a pair of jeans was made of nickel and discovered I had a nickel allergy. I avoid nickel and I also stick with gold and silver jewelry.
When my son was a young teen he showed me videos on RUclips where someone would put all kinds of odd things in a blendtec blender to see what would happen. He always kept working. I think golf balls things like that was put in it. I agree appliances do not hold up like they use to. We had a Dyson vacuum for 14 years and got a new one and it always has issues.
27:04 Yep, I do wash almost all new clothes because so often they have a chemical-y odor. I once received a top (bought online) that smelled like it was soaked in perfume. I wondered who had bought that, tried it on and returned it to the retailer. I didnt wash it - I sent it back. Ugh!
I have the Ninja blender and it's awesome because mine came with the pitcher thing and 2 smaller cups for single serve smoothies. It's great! I got a cool Cuisinart stick blender at Costco that I use to grind spices, nuts, and blend soups and it's pretty good, too.
Shocked that Blendtec does not have a warranty. Vitamix has a ten year warranty. I replaced my Ninja with my Vitamix about 11 years ago and it’s STILL going strong! I had to replace the container about a year ago. LOVE IT 😊
Crazy during this inflation major corporations are posting billion dollar profits… a lot of price gauging. I have always lived off store brands, generics and drug store brands.. have no choice but thanks to you Dr. Dray I have a lot of good products to choose from
I wish they would write on the labels to wash before use. I have atopic dermatitis and did not know this until some years ago. It has been a game changer for me, to always wash new clothes before wearing.
Our reconditioned Vitamix is still going strong after, oh, 13 years or so? I use it almost daily, too. Not cheap, but it lasts. And you can do hot liquids in it no problem. I make a lot of soup!
LOL about "slither on" and holiday decorating. I too find grocery stores fun during the holidays. Always wash your new clothes and those from thrift shops, all linen-sheets, towels, blankets, etc.
I would highly recommend washing clothes before buying to everyone, coming from someone who has worked in a retail store, you'd be surprised at the amount of people who try on what you're buying, things have been returned and put straight back on the racks, and honestly just dropped on the floor.
Dr. Dray, you were driving around in my neighborhood! My Michael's, my Randall's, my Leaf & Grain! I heard you mention my town and looked up from a small decluttering session, wondering where exactly you were, and it was about 1.5 miles from where I'm sitting. I hardly ever remember to check Michael's coupons, so I'm relatively safe from that bait and switch scam. And I never wash clothing before I wear it the first time.
I signed up with Columbia House back in the early 70's. I would order the records I wanted, but they would always be out of them, and then send me substitutions.
Happy Sunday Dr Dray & Fam! And good luck to any other college students with final exams this week !! ✨️ I know I'll be using my skincare routine as mindfulness activity this week lol.
Yes to washing new clothes! It’s my birthday and I received a few new clothing items and they’re already in the wash. Thanks for the vlog and Happy Sunday!❤
Sprouts is going out of business 😢 I love that store. I remember Columbia House Records and Tapes. A guy that I went to college with got a letter from them threatening to sue him😯 but nothing came of it. Maybe the mob ran it, I'd like a deep dive on it myself. I enjoyed the seasonal displays in Kroger too. I agree, Olay has lost it.😊 Loved the vlog, Happy Sunday 🌞🌸🏵️
Good video, Dr. Dray. I always wash my clothes, towels and sheets before wearing. My skin is very sensitive, so clothes, etc., have to be soft. Dyes, etc. in clothes make me breakout. Aveeno prices have gone up in price too, but I depend on them, and they are not $50.! Wow! Have a great week! 💜
Blender suggestion: I have an Oster Versa blender and I love it. I've had this one for many years and use it several times a week. it was comparable in price to the Ninja at the time but the motor in the Oster is much bigger. I make my own nut milks, nut butter, hot soups, smoothies with ice cubes etc. I love that it has a "smoothie" button. You just push that button and it will blend in one direction and then change directions so nothing gets stuck at the bottom. It also has a soup button and several others so no guessing. Also, along with the buttons it has a knob so you can pick the speed or slowly ramp up. Love it!
I have the Ninja you speak of and I am plant based. I used it dally for smoothies and make nut butters all the time!! I also blend hot soups in it as well. I purchased it at OUR favorite store...Costco. $149 Canadian. It came with a plethora ofother cups and other things which are useful. 😊
As someone else noted I think the Ninja is great. Whatever you do don't buy a NutriBullet. It's junk. While I'm here here's my favorite morning smoothie: spinach or kale, shredded carrots, diced beet, One small banana or 1/2 large banana, 1 cup of frozen blueberries. I pretty much use equal amounts of each but it all depends on what size cup you have. I sometimes add a little stevia Just a tiny bit to bring out the sweetness of the beets. I have this just about every morning and I love it!
I always wash new clothing before wearing. I guess my thought is that I don't know how many times it's been tried on or even bought and returned. 🤷 I love the displays that stores do for the holidays and seasons. I grew up in a very small town and the local businesses would have beautiful window displays. Miss those days. $50 for a drug store moisturizer is ridiculous. Enjoyed the vlog as always. Happy Sunday, Dr Dray! Hope you have a relaxing evening. 💙
We have a Vitamix which is about 40 years old and still going strong! It can do hot or cold, and can handle lots of ice and frozen fruit in smoothies. $$$ but worth it!
I wash new clothing before wearing it. I wash them in cold gentle cycle & just hang them to dry instead of sticking them in a dryer. And you're right about Houston traffic, lol. I have to drive to Galleria area almost every day & that Richmond/610 intersection is my least favorite part.
I always wash clothes before wearing. But not because I’m super clean or anything. I just realized that when I was wearing new clothes without washing them, maybe about 25% of the time I would get a mild skin rash. Now that I wash every time, no more rashes.
I always wash my new clothes bc they finish the fabrics with horrible chemicals to make them look better. I worked in textiles and I visited a finishing plant once and the smell was horrendous. You can still smell these chemicals often on new clothes.
I enjoy your content Dr. Dray. I always wash before using. Pretty much everything. Makers of clothing, bed linens, bath towels, etc. add synthetic chemicals to their products during manufacture. Some of those additives include: hormone disruptors, carcinogens, skin irritants, etc. I don't want that stuff coming into contact with my sensitive skin. I also don't want someone else's cooties hitch-hiking home into my closet, underwear drawer or bed. I'd rather start the aging process on my purchase by washing it before use than developing a rash or contracting ringworm or scabies. P.S. I will arm wrestle you for that T-shirt!
I don't like washing the clothes as soon as i buy them either lol I feel like it does decrease the longevity of them for real. I wash them once they get dirty or i overuse them.
I always wash clothes before wearing lol and I have the same issue with jeans now. I tried some target jeans a few weeks ago and they were itchy so they much use some fabric or dye that causes me irritation. American Eagle jeans seem to be the best for me. I never realized fabrics were so important but they are!
If you have a dark fabric that you don't want to fade with washing, have it dry cleaned the first time to set the dye. I heard this from my mom and I believe it does work. Also, Woolite makes a laundry detergent just for dark clothes. It has a tiny amount of dark pigment added.
Olay products are expensive but my skin loves them. Therefore, I purchase them when they are on sale at Costco. Then it’s really quite affordable. About the Blendtec blender, if you purchased it at Costco, you can return it! I returned mine to Costco without a problem after a couple of years for a similar reason.
Also, I always wash everything before I wear it! I get mad at my husband when he tries to wear something before it's washed. I even wash my son's coats before he wears them!
I have always washed new clothing before wearing. There is a chemical in new fabric referred to as "sizing" that keeps the material looking fresh and crisp and repels some dirt. This chemical can cause rashes, skin irritation, allergic reactions, etc. Plus, I do not want to wear clothing that other people may have tried on who may transfer lice, bed bugs or something worse to me. Just trying to be as safe as possible.
Dr.Dray I've had blendtec for atleast 12 years now I think (or close) and the blender itself is going strong but I have replaced the jar every 3-4 years or so (I use my blender a lot, pretty much daily). I think it's the gasket that wears down and then causes unpleasant noise (even more than usual) for me. If the motor ever breaks down I think I am going to try a different brand too, even though blendtec has served me well for many years. And the replacement jars are so expensive that the cost has added up to a new blender by now:)
I, also, have a Ninja kitchen system. It's fantastic. I've had it over a year, and it's still going strong. Highly recommend. Yes, I wash new clothing before wearing- can't get over thinking how many hands have been all over something I'm about to put on my body. 😂 Love your content on RUclips. Thanks for the great, no nonsense info.
Been watching for a few years and this channel is amagzing ,really injoy every time ,,i miss tiddy the little doggy and the mom ,hope they are well ,god bless this channel
I remember using the Neutrogena Salicylic Acid Grapfruit Wash years ago it got rid of my acne in days But I’m afraid to use it again bc of the fragrance in it but my skin doesn’t react to fragrance badly I don’t like the purging from Salicylic Acid
I always wash them because I've worked in places that sell clothes. The overstock lays on the dusty floor quite often. I'm also a fan of the second hand charity thrift shops ❤
Please call the blendec blender company!!! I had a problem with mine and when I called them, they looked up my model number and sent a new motor. They do warranty for longer than 3 years. Good luck. I do enjoy your videos and have learned a lot!!❤️
Another awesome vlog! You look adorable with glasses! Also, I try to wash clothes before I wear them but weirdly, if I pay a lot of money for it, I'm less likely to do so. Probably for the same reason you said, to preserve their longevity. I recently travelled with the Gold Bond pure moisturizer and it was perfect for both face and body! That's the one you should travel with!
I love my Ninja! Highly recommended! I have never used it for nut butter but have used it on soup...it wasn't extremely hot but it was warm and it worked great.
Hi! Please talk about the skin of patients with hEDS (collagen disorder) and what procedures you've done on them? My skin breaks easily and forms red-ish/brown scars that never fade away.
I love that mustardy colored T-shirt on you and thanks for all your advice. You’ve helped me make me better decisions on what I purchase for sure. PS I’m loving the Timeless Coenzyme Q10 serum as well as Cerave moisturizing cream. 😎
Check the warranty and see if it's covered. The more expensive brands will often have a really long warranty time. :) If you need a new grinder, I've had a Cuisinart burr mill grinder for something like 16 years and still going strong. It also has a hopper in the top - so no need for the extra canister sitting on the counter. ;)
I always wash before wearing brand new clothes and then hang dry indoors for the first 3 - 4 washes depending on the material. I do now too!! I got a rash after wearin a brandnew blue bodysuit from urban outfitters!!
I wash before wearing as well.
I also wash my new clothes 👍🏻 a dermatologist advised me to do so
I always wash before wearing
So agree with you❤
I never washed clothes before wear until I had kids. Now we wash everything before using it. Clothes manufacturing is not a clean business and lots of dust, debris, excess dye, who knows what on the fabrics. For sensitive skin I think it’s a good idea!

Scabies is miserable to go through. The itch lasts forever
You look great with glasses Dr Dray!

yes dark denim should always be pre washed
I always wash everything inside out. It is a good habit to get into.

I am bummed about it closing
For me last week the inflation shocker was hoola hoops. They’re now $10! I’m pretty sure when I was a kid we could pick them up for $1.
Dollar tree they are $1:25 ( for now anyway)
Noooo tell me it’s not so
You brought up skin allergies with dyes. For months, I had an itchy rash around my belly button that popped up periodically. I discovered the button on a pair of jeans was made of nickel and discovered I had a nickel allergy. I avoid nickel and I also stick with gold and silver jewelry.

Yes! Completely price gouging! They’ve lost their marbles

Have you ever considered a Vitamix blender? They’re very powerful. I believe you can even make hot soups in them.
Thanks for talking about Red Rose tea. I would like to try the blueberry muffin tea. And the chocolate and marshmallow sound really good.

👍🏼👍🏼
I use my Ninja every day at least 2 times a day and have for like at least 5 years. Going strong still
As someone else noted I think the Ninja is great.
Happy Sunday! Eagerly waiting for the video on finding an aesthetician / derm for procedures !
You might consider getting a Vitamix. It’s fabulous.
Lol along with the Columbia Records was also the Disneys movies and I had to laugh about the Michael’s coupon b/c I 100% agree with you!!
Love the glasses! Great vlog! Keep us informed on what blender you get. Im on the look out. Scammers gonna scam!
Always wash! Worked retail and people trying on aren't always hygienic 😬
I wash new clothing before wearing it.
I wash them in cold gentle cycle & just hang them to dry instead of sticking them in a dryer.
And you're right about Houston traffic, lol. I have to drive to Galleria area almost every day & that Richmond/610 intersection is my least favorite part.
The motor is going Dr. Dray. I have a Ninja . Love it. And you don't want to burn your apartment down. Nothing is being made to last anymore.
I always wash clothes before wearing. But not because I’m super clean or anything. I just realized that when I was wearing new clothes without washing them, maybe about 25% of the time I would get a mild skin rash. Now that I wash every time, no more rashes.
Always. Always wash new clothing before wearing it.
Ugh, I shudder to think 😊
I always wash my new clothes bc they finish the fabrics with horrible chemicals to make them look better. I worked in textiles and I visited a finishing plant once and the smell was horrendous. You can still smell these chemicals often on new clothes.
I would love to see how you store and organize your products and rotate through them. Do you have a system for this?
I know she's talked about doing that. She's done some vlogs organizing other things like one for her hair products.
I want to see this too dr dray! I’m struggling with organizing mine
I always wash new clothes. Jeans I wash a few times before wearing, to get the dye out. Some brands are so overdyed.
Also, I always wash everything before I wear it! I get mad at my husband when he tries to wear something before it's washed. I even wash my son's coats before he wears them!
Lol I have that yellow succulent shirt and my pharmacist yesterday said she has it too 🌵picking up the clindamycin you know 😛💙
Happy Sunday!
Happy Sunday Y’all🌷enjoy!
Good Sunday morning!
I have a Vitamix, probably close to 10 years, got it at Costco and love it.
Thanks so much for sharing . I'm new to your channel, and i appreciate all the information you share ❤
I remember using the Neutrogena
Salicylic Acid Grapfruit Wash years ago it got rid of my acne in days
But I’m afraid to use it again bc of the fragrance in it but my skin doesn’t react to fragrance badly
I don’t like the purging from Salicylic Acid
Wild that sprouts is going out of business there. I am in CA and they r thriving
I always wash them because I've worked in places that sell clothes. The overstock lays on the dusty floor quite often. I'm also a fan of the second hand charity thrift shops ❤
Ha! One of my pet peeves of the decade: “Do your research! Do your research!”
Please call the blendec blender company!!! I had a problem with mine and when I called them, they looked up my model number and sent a new motor. They do warranty for longer than 3 years. Good luck. I do enjoy your videos and have learned a lot!!❤️
For free or how much?
Another awesome vlog! You look adorable with glasses! Also, I try to wash clothes before I wear them but weirdly, if I pay a lot of money for it, I'm less likely to do so. Probably for the same reason you said, to preserve their longevity. I recently travelled with the Gold Bond pure moisturizer and it was perfect for both face and body! That's the one you should travel with!
dr dray your hair grows back really quickly
"I thought you didn't wash your face in the morning!!"
Omg jumpscare 😂 don't let people's whiny comments get to you Dr. Dray. We appreciate you lots!!
I can’t imagine NOT washing my face in the morning!
I don’t wash clothing when I buy it new. I have the same tee-shirt you are wearing. Got mine at Target a couple of years ago.
I haven’t been able to find the Kroger glow sunscreen anywhere near me! 😢
I love your positivity. Thanks for the vids and tips!
I’m good with using concealer on the visible blood vessels around my nose. Easy peasy.
I love my Ninja! Highly recommended! I have never used it for nut butter but have used it on soup...it wasn't extremely hot but it was warm and it worked great.
vitamina mix works for me.... costco frequently has sales on them
Hi! Please talk about the skin of patients with hEDS (collagen disorder) and what procedures you've done on them? My skin breaks easily and forms red-ish/brown scars that never fade away.
I bought the Red Rose Cocoa and Marshmallow tea at your recommendation and it is really nice!
Have a wonderful Sunday!😃 absolutely love your vlogs and look forward to them 💙
Happy Sunday
I love that mustardy colored T-shirt on you and thanks for all your advice. You’ve helped me make me better decisions on what I purchase for sure. PS I’m loving the Timeless Coenzyme Q10 serum as well as Cerave moisturizing cream. 😎
I also fell for Columbia House. Purchased CDs, and books.
My name is Mechelle ...well Columbia House had me down as Nachelle...The things they threatened poor Nachelle with😂😂😂😂
I ALWAYS wash new clothes. Who knows who has tried them on before you purchased.
I’ve had my Vitamix for 11 years and it still works perfectly.
Check the warranty and see if it's covered. The more expensive brands will often have a really long warranty time. :) If you need a new grinder, I've had a Cuisinart burr mill grinder for something like 16 years and still going strong. It also has a hopper in the top - so no need for the extra canister sitting on the counter. ;)
Happy Sunday, Dr. Dray ❤
