The best part about your life Dan is that Ksenia is far more than your fiancé, she is the best friend you will ever have in your life! Everyday Russians are traditionally true friends! They are some of the sweetest people on the planet. Ukrainians and most other Slavic people are this way. They are not stupid, they have an understanding that most Americans at least do not possess. I was born in the US, but I do not belong there. My grandparents on my mother's side were from Russia. They came to the US around 1937 to Ellis Island and my mother was born 1938 in New York. They then moved to California. As a child my grandparents tried to teach me Russian ways and tried to teach me the language, but being a cross-breed in the US with two cultures it was a herculean task. I regret not learning the language because I now find it one of the most beautiful of languages. Growing up I did get to see things like the real Bolshoi ballet in person and learn of Russian folk dancing, etc. through my grandparents who somehow had connection in a Russian community in Los Angeles. What was successfully instilled into me as I would discover later is some traditional Russian mentality and ways. I thought I had friends growing up, but later in life they were all superficial and when I was in need of the smallest nature they just went away after I gave them my commitment over and over to their needs from time to time. When I met my dearest friend from Russia about 8 years ago it was a chance meeting, totally put together by the universe because we struggle to explain what happened. We have grown to realize we are soulmates and she made me honorable family a couple of months ago or at least that is when she told me, it more likely happened years ago. In the first year of our friendship I realized that I had never experienced real friendship until I met her. We have been helping each other ever since. It started with comments left on a message board then went to prolific emails and in about 9 months time we had our first face to face phone conversation that was pure magic and every one since has been the same. We can't talk less than 2 hours and when we go to end the call it comes with some emotion! She told me early on that with Russians friendship is "forever". We are extremely close in spite of the miles of separation. She is now a refugee living in Armenia as of March 2023. She was originally living in Ivanovo when we met. She is now presently my only friend in the world as well. Neither of us can imagine life without the other now. I have never experienced such a level of friendship before. Again, it is very sincere and with lots of love, not fake like with most Americans. We do love each other and it is reciprocal. So cherish Ksenia with everything Dan! I am most grateful for my best friend Marta every minute of everyday! We are not even sure what would happen if we met physically in person, which sadly will not happen. It may be for best now because I think neither of us could handle the emotional energy. We would just hold each other for days literally or something. (We know what each other looks like and all through pictures. I still struggle with pictures of myself, but unlike Americans, there doesn't seem to be any judgement at all. However, I'm not sure I will ever get used to that). We have no secrets from each other as well, we know all the most finite details about each other. One thing I know for sure, life without her would be absolutely miserable. Yes, I do get a little flack here in the states for having a Russian friend, but for now it is far and few between (our friendship was threatened from the outside in the past a couple of times, but we stood strong). Most Americans are so ignorant and choose to be so. I find it easier to love a Russian than an American somehow. Maybe it is their directness as part of it. What has been hard to get used to is the fact that being used to the culture in the states one has to ask "are we still friends" or "do you still love me" constantly. My dear friend Marta has been teaching me that with Russians, it is not necessary, you are friends and loved until you are told your are not and that only happens under betrayal. Who would want to betray a friend like that?

Yes, kind-hearted and hospitable people do prevail in Russia! The media of both countries show only lies of propaganda. What others see in public is only the surface about Russia. The other big difference is the value of friendships. In America friendships only have surface value at best. They are almost strictly transactional. They are almost not that important. These days in America one must purchase friends, it is too expensive and then they are not really friends. In Russia friends can be considered family. Friends are very important, friendships have great meaning. I got deep lessons in that from my dearest friends and a couple of good acquaintances. Americans just look at Russians in public and think they are all cold-hearted and unkind. They do not understand what they see, they do not understand the culture or mentality. If one just bothers to make a slight study it all becomes clear. The biggest secret to having Russian friends is honesty and openness. I also believe that on the whole Russians have not lost their civilizational code, including the younger generations. Like I said, Dan is very lucky to have Ksenia in his life and I am extremely fortunate to have Marta in my life.

First of your videos that I see, I am impressed with your coverage and description. I have only been to Moscow once on a whim, as they say. I was amazed by the people's helpfulness, the subways and the great countryside. It was the fastest two weeks in my life and I have been trying to go back ever since. Like you I am a Veteran, Australian not American, but that does not stop us from seeing the world as we do. I have been to China as well and it is also amazing, it is like the people ho have negative words, have never been to these places, and politics is nothing more than oneupmanship. Nobody wants to stop and listen to the peace and quiet, the people, see the beauty and the cultures. I wish you so much Peace and Happiness in whatever you may do.
Just for a better understanding of the language, a Veteran in English is a person who served in the army for a long period of time and was transferred to the reserve, or is it a person who took part in any military operations? Here in Russia, Veterans are people who, for example, fought in World War II, Afghanistan, Chechnya, etc.
@@krino2 Hello friend, yes your explanation is correct in both terms. Here it was reserved for those who fought in any designated war or combative action as you describe for Russia. I was unfortunately involved with the US invasion of both Iraq and Afghanistan in the early 2000's. I also served 30 years before being medically discharged as unsuitable for continued service. A few years ago, the term veteran was bestowed upon any member who served more than 24hrs in the Australian Defence Force (ADF). If they completed four years, they even received a medal. This caused quite a bit of upset between the two different types of veteran here, many of us refusing to wear the medal for joining the ADF. We felt it was insulting to us in calling everyone a veteran. This has not been addressed yet, despite the many letters of complaint.

Welcome to Moscow. While the weather is not the best one at the moment, it's still perfect for getting lost exploring the small old streets and tiny squares/parks/gardens.
I've been to Moscow three times and I am very envious of your location. First time out near Партизанская metro (old Intourist Hotel), second time near Арбатская metro, third time near Пушкинская metro. I'm amazed that Russia, after all the extreme sanctions put on her, is able to function like nothing bad has happened, although McDonald's and other chains have closed, but Russians are betther off. Viva Russia 🇷🇺. Hope to visit Russia one day but specially St. Petersburg 👍👍👍👍
Moscow metro is a work of art. Especially the Stalin era stations. Palaces for the People. Built by the working people for the working people to use daily and have majestic beauty in their everyday life.
No wonder the appartment is amazing. It's most certainly a "Stalinka" - building built during Stalin-era, which has one of the most comfortable and "well-feeling" houses you will ever expereince.
Air travels faster over the wing because the wing is rounded on the top half...as a result air has to travel further and moves faster above the wing creating a vacume...aka lift....that is why aircraft need a certain speed to lift off the ground....extended flaps create more of a curve...so lower speeds are required to create lift and a plane can take off at slower speeds than without flaps.
When you become older you scared more and more every year+. When I was a kid flight was best attraction for me. We fly often. My mome had Aeroflot 50% discount. So, we could get to any USSR part for half price.

Moscow subway is totally worth to spend a whole day on. Just riding from station to station, from old central Stalin-times-built ones - literally like museums - to the newest ones, some of which are pure futuristic madness. wow it must have been a completely different place when you lived here. it’s said to me by many now who live here how much advancement they have in such little time.
Did they tell you that when you go to metro, you go on lighter bits on the floor: trains are always stopping in the same places and you can stand on lighter spot to ensure you are just on front of the door. This trick worked 13 years ago, it may not now...
I can't fly normally either. Even a parachute jump didn't help Every time when i fly , amI in such stress that I can't even watch a movie. I envy people who can just fall asleep on the plane. And high ceilings are a separate topic. With all my love for Japan, every Russian gets a culture shock from how small their rooms are. I'm not tall by myself, but I can jump my head up to their ceilings. Which is strange, because I'm the height of an ordinary Japanese.
Fun fact about the Moscow Metro and other cities, they are made to be bomb shelters, chemical shelters and even used for Nuclear shelters for civilians, they have MASSIVE hermetic blast doors at all entrances, even the train tunnels, they have rooms with I believe air filtration systems as well as preservatives(I am not 100% sure on the preservatives)

I've been reading more books than watching videos lately. I've always read a lot and now even more so, because to understand current events, we have to look for the roots in history!
Приезжайте в Россию жить🙂

Moscow metro is a work of art. Especially the Stalin era stations. Palaces for the People. Built by the working people for the working people to use daily and have majestic beauty in their everyday life.

From Domodedovo Airport to Paveletsky only single-decker trains run, while from Sheremetyevo they've already launched double-deckers.

Did they tell you that when you go to metro, you go on lighter bits on the floor: trains are always stopping in the same places and you can stand on lighter spot to ensure you are just on front of the door. This trick worked 13 years ago, it may not now...
I’ll remember this fact when I make my metro episode!
Fun fact about the Moscow Metro and other cities, they are made to be bomb shelters, chemical shelters and even used for Nuclear shelters for civilians, they have MASSIVE hermetic blast doors at all entrances, even the train tunnels, they have rooms with I believe air filtration systems as well as preservatives(I am not 100% sure on the preservatives)
that’s awesome
