- On my 52Ft. self-built yacht, I sail across the Pacific Ocean at age 86, solo, the wrong way, i.e. against prevailing winds and currents, 80 days at sea, and 7,515 Nautical Miles under the keel, from Majuro, Marshall Islands to La Cruz, Riviera Nayarit, Mexico.
You are the original Old sea dog. My respects to you Sir
I just got done watching your video when this guy popped up on my thread. 🙂
WOW!!!!! my 2 favorite seadogs
Where is Sam Holmes?
Seadog, young fella, how are ya. Been watching your channel for a long time. My respects to you also. Best - Peter
Can't argue that!
Proud of my uncle for such an amazing achievement!
And I am proud to have such a wonderful niece. Best - Peter
Your Uncle Peter is a living miracle! What a magnificent example to model oneself on. He and others like him are my inspiration to manage my own challenges arising out of my life in a wheelchair. Thank you, Peter.
Perhaps jump on his ship for this next leg of adventure and be proud of yourself and your own discoveries,it can be emotional experience beyond words, take care and yes such a kool Uncle to have, might be time to spend more interactions before too late.
We couldn't agree with you more. He's an inspiration to all of us ❤️
I would be too! Lovely old man of the sea.
This guy is living proof you’re never too old to go sailing !
That's exactly what we were thinking as well. Very impressive.
There are three things you never are old to do: sailing, playing some instrument, and cycling. I do all three, and at 61 I feel young enough to keep doing them.
@ *_ And the fourth.... Getting up at 5am six days a week and go work as a Handyman at 75 years old... or young? _*
He wasn’t old when he started
true!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are a hero to all mankind Sir! Wish you good health, strength and more sailing!
Just found this channel. He said he's 86!! Seems like he's doing very well. I hope to do a trip like this in 5 years. Currently I'm 79 and just crossed Bass Strait singlehanded in a daysailor. I know how he feels. You become very aware of not making a mistake when you get old. Takes a long time to recover from injuries. I'm now a new subscriber. Thanks.
Absolutely incredible, for any age but especially for this gentleman. Much respect and admiration.
Hats off to you sir, you're an excellent role model for sheer determination, for life purpose and for enjoying it even when the running was tough.
Thank you.
Wow ! RESPECT to this mariner , I hope to sail as long as he’s sailing but I won’t cross the Pacific at his age. Congratulations Sir !
Such an absolute inspiration. I still have hope coming up on 60 years old.
Especially considering it appears he is sailing solo. Wishing you a blessed lifelong adventure as well.
Hats off to you Sir, what a magnificent way to spend your life. An example to all! At 67 years I am trying to set myself free in a similar way, albeit on a much more humble scale. As a first time sailor there will be much to learn but truly cannot wait! Fair winds, I shall be following your every step.
Amazing story! I am only 70 and the thought of having to climb back aboard after a fatiguing underwater chore chills me to the bones!
A lucky man with all necessary talent, knowledge and courage. I salute him with respect and envy.
Fantastic stories. I never sailed until my 50s and regret coming to it late, but you've shown I might have another 30 years available to me!
A million congrats on your great video. What a man, what a life, what an inspiration to all of us, young and old alike. You are a brilliant man, brave and a skilled mariner. God bless you and looking forward to more trip videos in the future. Tom, Wicklow, Ireland.
God bless this LEGEND, 86 and still solo sailing. Amazing
I am 71 years old, and you are inspiring me so much. I pray for your safety. God keeps you "all is well".
I don't even know what to say except I feel quiet useless watching you live life to the fullest.bravo young man..bravo.
Holy mackerel, what an inspiration! Would love to know more about you. Where did you start? where have you been? A tour of your boat? Any relation to Joshua Slocum? Please keep posting.
Thank you. PT1 answers most of your questions. Best - Peter
I love your videos, no clickbait girls, no music, just sailing.
WOW Peter you are truly an inspiration! So wonderful to see you again and in such damn good form! Bravo!
This is how we felt about La Cruz after sailing there from Seattle. That's why we anchored out while we were there. It's too easy to get strapped to a dock. We made it down to El Salvador until we were turned around by Covid. We worked our way back to La Cruz, then on to Hawaii. French Polynesia is next. Great video!! It makes our latest 26-day crossing seem like a day sail!! =)
As a 75 year old solo sailor l can only say you have my deepest respect. Well Done.
Congradulation. 70 here, started solo sailing at 26. Private and charter captain, as is my wife, for decades. Very inspirational story, a great role model. My hat is off to you for your great achievements.
I once sailed the pasific in 1970' s on a self build 30 foot cutter rigged sailing boat with no engine, no radio gear, no GPS, no visa's, no epirb, no liferaft, ne depthsounder. Navigation bij sextant, chronometre and tabel's, paper charts and crowsnest. I visited Australia, Lord Howe, New Sealand, Fidji. It lasted for two years, then the authorities of NZ refused my departure. I returned to Europa. Now I am 84 and ride a 2006 Harley Davidson streetbob homemade converted into 1960 Chopper.
I have great respect for these old men and their skill to deal with now a days authorities and electronica. For me, the charme and the feeling of FREEDOM is gone. Alas.
Sir, incredible and adorable!!! You seem to be a genius in filmmaking, if this is really your first video, it’s incredible… I am working since 30 years within the movie world, and what you filmed and how you edited… marvelous!!! And even if someone helped you editing, the genius is the one who filmed… PLEASE continue, introduce us in every detail of your boat, your life, your past, your thoughts… I admire you! and please tell us, how we could support you, Stefan
Thank you for the kind words, and please stay tuned. Best - Peter
WOW!! I have no words but you are a true legend and inspiration congratulations on the absolutely amazing accomplishment!! Thank you for telling your story and getting this on video. Please continue the videos you would have a huge audience. We would love to see more of your boat and hear more of your stories please document them! Stay safe out there!!
His positivity is infectious and has me smiling, what a man.
It's been a pleasure watching and listening to your story. You are an absolute stud and I admire you. Thanks for the inspiration.
You are an absolute legend, sir. So much respect. Inspirational!
The styling, the narration, the content. This guy is incredible! Love seeing the progress on your adventures.
Sir, you deserve such respect, i hope some media mob wants to publish your story and pay you handsomely. Your living our dream.
This sailor is incredible. Thank you for being you. We need more like you.
What a wonderful gentleman! I'm 77 and have a 22footer near Plymouth, UK. I was thinking of selling her later this year, but, hey, hot now. Thank you so much.
Excellent video Peter. You are an inspiration for us all. We have been sailing full time since covid and have crossed the Atlantic last year and we did 10 000nm last year in all. I’m looking forward to a new video from you on another amazing trip 👏🏻 0:02
Congratulations..good winds..enjoy your life..be carefully. 👋😀❤️⛵️🇨🇭
Just come across your channel. Respect Sir! Long may you continue to sail. You've been on that boat slightly less time than I've been alive. You are right if you stop moving and forget what it is that keeps you young then your age will catch up on you!
Fantastic. What a feat. You sure are a great role model of what one can achieve through sheer determination. Stay safe as long as you can.
This video is therapy for us younger, guys in our 60's, to strive for. Like you, I am not planning to retire and wait to die. There are challenges that I have yet to overcome. Thank you for sharing your video, it reminds so many of us that we still have purpose!
Your story was heartwarming and intriguing until you mentioned your age. Holy God, man. You're an absolute legend. I only hope that I have a quarter of your spunk at your age (if I manage to make that.) Godspeed, sir. My poppop, at your age, was tending an acre of garden, maintaining a greenhouse, mowing an acre of grass, running the church organ club and playing for the service each Sunday and made some kicking wine. Folks like you and him are just inspirational.
i salute you sir. I come from a family who use the stars, waves and wind to navigate our big blue Pacific. I completely understand your feelings of riding the calm, rough and the SILENT waves of Pacific. I am sure at night you'd hear my forefathers cheering you on your journey in the blackness or moonlit of Pacific Ocean
A man who has chosen to live life. Total legend!
You are an inspiration, Sir! Thank you for sharing part of your story and I wish you fair winds for many more years to come.
Absolutely fantastic, well done sailor man. Love your outlook on life. From another fellow sailor of 40 years. Extremely dangerous to go into the open water alone let alone at 86. But it's obvious you are very efficient and safety minded, and in very good shape.
Now I will have to watch part 1.
Amazing video. You're such an inspiration to all of us who want to blue water cruise around the world. Thank you so much for sharing.
your an amazing person to have the fortutuide of sight to see that we rot when we stand still.. keep sailing I have just re found my love for the waves thank you..
Your story is inspiring. I just turned 60, and I vowed to learn how to sail a traditional Filipina fishing boat. The goal is to build a sailing vessel I can sail all around the Philippines. Please keep the videos coming.
We are looking forward to more exciting content from you. You Sir are truly an inspiration to all of us who wonder how long its possible to sail into the later years of life. Blessings to you the Ancient Mariner
Wow man what a inspiration! I have at least 33 more years of Sailing to look forward to!
You and Sven Yrvind are proof a rolling stone gathers no moss…
Please document your thoughts and life experiences. We have a lot to learn from people like you, just quietly getting it done. Bravo!
Impressive - the old man and the sea real life. And one many young guns can learn from :-). Fair winds!
What an amazing soul, smoth seas and fair winds mate, your living proof we should live oir best life.
So good Peter, well filmed, beautifully narrated , a pleasure to see a well sailed solo venture, your an inspiration to me. Thank you
You're a inspirational man.. I don't blame you for not wanting to sit around and wait for death to show up.. keep looking at the horizon and sailing on.. I truly wish I was able to be along with you.. I'm 45 and so badly want to live life like this. I have a few years until my children are 18.. perhaps in a year I will be out of debt and able to find you or someone like you that could use a companion and is willing to trade night shift and boatwork for sharing your knowledge and experience..
A fine, fine sailboat and a happy admirable sailor.
my oncologist in HI says that my prostate cancer that has spread to several bones is nolonger a death sentence, but can be put into permanent remission. due to medical advances. Your new video is just as good as your first. Am also proud of you. Joe Lehman
Thanks for that! Great to see you out there doing it!!! I'm still offshore sailing at 62 and starting to worry about my age - now I don't have to!!
It's never to late to start a youtube sailing channel, thumbs up
