You're truly expressing how everyone feeling at the moment when it comes to PreSonus and Fender. Studio One is best DAW in my eyes. So much so that I've bought hardware and addons to accommodate it. This feels like a slap to the face.

Bought Reaper (version 7 and gets up to 8.99 for 60$). Starting checking it out slowly on spare time, but stick to S1 getting the job done.

Use what you can to make music at the right price. Ableton is kinda whack to me now, but it can be fun to jam and to outline songs quick.

100% agree. This is why I for the first time in 7 yrs I am concidering changing my DAW. I absolutely love Studio One but when a company does shady s*** like this, it definitely makes me question so many things.
I couldn't change because i have too much momentum going, and ultimately, the new version actually works better. Follow up video coming soon.
@@GetSongsDone Thanks for the reply. Don’t get me wrong I’m still using it as well. I have tons to finish before I even consider switching. Same reason. I will lose lots of momentum but the idea of getting a few things out of the way and then starting fresh could mean fresh ideas and new creative possibilities. Once you learn the new software of course.
What doesn't make sense to me, (at least the main thing), why would Presonus make a pay as you go through Plus Hybrid to earn a license version that has less VSTs than a subscription? Here's your license you own outright but it turns out there's less in it. Thats like finally paying off your car and as a reward they take out the seats and the air conditioning. Whatever comes with Sphere should be the full Licensed version. Plain and simple. Thats what we as License owners deserve. Great video btw man!

Totally agree.. I think Fender is pushing toward subscription only. Fender is going to screw up a great product.
I don't even have a problem with subscription only, but make it the right price and give us the full program since we're paying more. And honor existing customers with discounts/ credit/ full versions, etc.

Only problem with the current situation is that more companies are following this model. We could jump to a DAW that isn't sub only but I bet in time you'll see the same thing with Cubase. We can only switch for so long until there's nowhere else to go. Like herding sheep into an ever narrowing tunnel
I use Studio One because, at least for me, it suits the way I make music - and as a bonus it looks great from a visual perspective. After the 6.6 update, guess what, it still does suit me and look great. I understand you feel frustrated but honestly I don't really understand why you do. I used to be a Sphere member but because I don't really use the soundsets and all that stuff I decided to quit sphere. I'm actually an Artist user now, so no monthly subscription - and there isn't much that I feel I'm missing out on. I bought Ampire and a couple of other things (can't remember off hand what they were) and I make music happily.
Glad it's working for you. Making music is the main thing. Maybe I should switch to Artist?

I left protools back when they tried to strong arm me into a monthly subscription. Never looked back. I’m not afraid to do it again.

Spent 3 days trying to figure out Studio one. Just to record 2 midi tracks. After this much frustration I will be moving on to find a better DAW. Let's see how FL Studio is doing...

Yep. I just updated to 6.6 and I'm scratching my head - it's killed Scaler 2 and other plugins instantly. Now I've gotta work out how to reinstall/revalidate them all. I love S One, I don't want to give up on it. But if you're going to drift further and further from building (over time) the greatest DAW ever - then my loyalty and that of many others, is going to be tested. Do better Presonus and listen to GSD - you're a software company. What next.. Gregor with a sunburst Strat?

No, I couldn't care less about the new synth. There are more good free ones than I will ever use. I also don't have plus, because I hate subscription models. Pay for years, and own nothing. The plugins I get, I will be able to keep using probably for the rest of my life if I want, without paying for them over and over. If Studio One ever goes to all subscription I will either never upgrade, or switch to Cubase full time (I use it as secondary DAW now). To each his own...

Even after Fendergate! I came baahahahahahaaack! V6 and I made beautiful love in a dimly lit studio….TMI, I know. But…. this SUBSCRIPTION THIIIING? … NO!! Just get away from me you greedy corporatebastards! I like a version? I pay for a version. Simple as that. You take you shined new toys to market and if I like, I buy. If I don’t like, you go home and cry and try harder to make nicer things next time so I buy it then. That’s how business and commerce works. It’s consumer driven. Subscription bollox is a Protection Racket! Wake up, people. Vote with your wallets and walk away. With any luck the lovely devs will pool their resources and write a shine new DAW and take that to market. Sigh…. And we’ll srart all over again….

The big corporates want you to think that but we have to remember, as consumers, we have the power to dictate how we buy our products.
Gotta say, I really feel for dev-extraordinaire, Lukas Rushitzka. I have so much respect for him and it must be a nightmare, struggling with his colleagues to keep improving this great product. While some overpaid numpties at the top keep making idiotic decisions. Props to you, Lukas! 👍 This is not aimed at you for sure.
Okay, I can see your frustration and I'm really frustrated with Studio One as well. They could have made a whole lot of improvements on their current virtual instruments for instance on the impact they could have added Reverb and effects to it and made it better but I'm really seriously thinking about Cubase. When I first got into the game I was on Cubase so I may go back to it.
I looked into crossgrading to Cubase but there are some issues (MY OWN) that I have. It doesn't really work with the default windows sound device. It requires an interface cause their asio driver nor asio4all will let it work with my uSB headset. This is an issue because yes sometimes I am totally studio focused and I am using my interface and studio headphones. But sometimes I am not totally focused, I am chatting on discord or watching something on you tube and so dink around using my USB headset. which works great in S1 but not all in Cubase. The crossgrade price is not terrible.

@@GetSongsDone there is FL and I have used that since version 6. But its failing is recording standard audio input. Although that is better than it was. hahah right now I have S1, FL, and Mixcraft Installed. Mixcraft is great for audio but the midi editing is not up to the big boys. I am also curious as to what the new returning Sonar will actually be like as I used Sonar from the time it was originally cakewalk up thru X1

Well said...or should I say ranted. I've been in the consumer and enterprise software industry for 25+ years and a rabid PreSonus fanboy for more than a decade. I think your points are spot on about the disconnect between product management and program management within the Fender/PreSonus ....thing. Decisions being made regarding marketing and positioning these days are slowly smothering the great design and engineering spark that goes into S1, and I feel bad for the planners, devs and specialists that have to deal with it. Despite frustration since Fender took over, I've never seriously considered a platform switch, but this current fiasco might be the proverbial straw. Ironically, and just before you video showed up in my feed, I had spent the last couple of hours looking at CPU upgrades for my workstations that would let the new Live 12 run. Hmmmm

I'd advise avoiding Ableton as a DAW, I think you'll be disappointed. Whenever you read about systems crashing repeatedly it's usually because the user is running Ableton. As long as Studio One does what you need it to I'd say stick with it as long as you can
@@stupidusername38 Thanks, and I think you captured part of my plan. As a tech geek, I do love S1 for many things. From its macros and interface to its easily accessed database architecture, I've been happy with the tool. It is the new company, and its policies and directions that leave me apathetic these days. I'm a nobody in music and can't carry a tune in a bucket. I know guys like me no longer mean much to FenderSonus and therefore, after years of enthusiam, the spark is gone. I've been a big fan of guys like Gregor starting with his @TX66 YT channel from years ago, and Joe and his early days since well before they started with PreSonus, and I was psyched to see them get involved. Today, I feel kind of bad for them. They need to toe the corporate line despite what they might believe deep down....but maybe not and that is cool. I've created hours of unmonetized S1 tutorials and responded to countless forum questions because I thought it was a great tool that guys like me might appreciate. It seems however, that those days are done and I get it. Business changes and that is the way it is. In actuality, and for simple logistical reasons, I'll probably keep S1 as part of my workflow. It is and will be a solid work horse with more power than I'll ever need.. However, just like a great set of amps that you don't want to swap out, I think I'll use it strictly for the less exciting things (imho) like arranging and mastering, and leave the creative, heartfelt and exciting pieces to tools like Live and others that generate some spark and don't leave a sour taste in my mouth. I agree, I really like Studio One and wouldn't see myself going anywhere else however, I'm thinking what other DAW could I go to? The rest are rubbish in comparison.

I enjoyed your rant. Thank you. Reality is. Pay what you need. Protools has the pro market. Next level down is the rest of us. That said. You have a tool to deliver to your clients. If they are happy, then what you use to deliver the result is mute... Pay the fee. Be it unfair or shite. Protools has done this for a very long time. In my job I expect to pay thousands per year to update plugins, subs and hardware. This is the cost of business. I use Studio One for Atmos. It's just great. I don't deliver any song now that's not Atmos and stereo. That said. I would say the released content from the Artists I work with is 90% non Atmos. That is changing.. I have a Job now that I need to release around 3000 songs in Atmos. My first choice is Studio one over Protools. The cost of Subs etc is not important when you have this scale. You choose the tools that make's this easy..... I feel that the community need to get over subs / cost of business. If you are a part timer. Then yeah what you said sux. Fender/Presonus are not targeting you. They want a Protools replacement. For pro users. I think they are on to something....
I guess I should be happy about it then. Let me pay the $ and pull the best tool for the job outta my *ss.
Also, if it's not for us everyday creators, why incorporate tunecore into it? just sayin'
I agree, tunecore is not great. I don't use them. And do not recommend them. The distributor market is a bit shite.... Its complex.. As rules are changing that I don't fully understand yet. Keep in contact. I may have some gems...

Really...there's nothing new of any great interest for me here in Studio One 6.6 update as I am a perpetual license guy. I, like most, could care less about Immersive Audio but Presonus (and others) have dedicated a ton resources into it. I came to S1 (from Logic Pro) a few years ago and, development-wise, I'm seriously considering returning to Logic. No DAW is perfect and S1 has things Logic doesn't - and visa-versa so I'll probably never be happy Ha! Ha!. Instead of a new virtual instruments I'd have preferred some new plugins...or updated and improved ones would suffice, too. Well, that's enough out of me-I could go on-but I won't.
You could always make a video...
REAPER.... 60 buks for ~5 years of updates (and use the plug ins YOU want ...and use anyway😜💪)

"it's business". Businesses provide a service or product for their customers. In order to keep their customers and grow their business they should do good things. Not defecate all over the people who have supported them over the years and got them to where they are. Since when did running a business become about doing the wrong thing all in the name of making a buck. Is this how businesses should be run? Having no respect for customers?
If I go to my favorite restaurant and they tell me that there is now a $10 cover charge just to enter. Is that just business? Should I just take it in the a** because it's business. What you're saying is that it is OK for companies to treat their loyal customers like sh!t because "it's business". It's people that have this sort of mentality who have gotten the world into the current state that it is.
You're the type of guy who would work for a tobacco company selling products that kill people, and to justify yourself you will say: "it's just business!". This is a psychopathic mentality.
The new license will be better (cheaper) for most subscribers, pay one year stop, have everything. They add new things you want, sign back up.
