After initially resisting the Studio One 6.6 update due to concerns over financial cost and the requirement of certain features like TuneCore I revisit the software.
Here are the advantages and improvements brought by the update, such as smoother operation, more detailed spatial audio Dolby Atmos integration and Apple Spatial Audio, and the quality of hard-to-get plugins like Lead Architect.
Despite the frustration over the marketing and pricing strategies deployed by the software creators, particularly around subscription models and the perception of being 'nickel and dimed.' the Digital Audio Workstation is of professional quality and the software is of value for Getting Songs Done. I still desire for more transparent pricing and the preservation of value for long-time users.

One of the reasons why I got into Studio One was for the hardware integration. If I switch DAWs, I'll change the hardware up, as well.

I'm not sure I can ever leave. The workflow is too good. Might need an even faster computer, though.

I got hit with the paypal thing too and it almost made me look elsewhere. Because they had ZERO way to change payment method you had to let it expire and re sub at the new price. And I find I am still annoyed at the sub extras. It also annoys me that you cannot do a Hybrid month to month plan and are forced to do a year. This is some predatory pricing and does make me start looking around again. Basically at this point will see how Sonar falls out and may move back to that.
On the other hand while Lead architect sounds good it does not sound like a must have. So for now when they go to 7 I could just upgrade. PRESUMING they leave the upgrade price at 150. If they do not then I will have to seriously think about it. 30 extra dollars is not really much but it's the nickel and diming that get annoying. I really like Studio One but so far the changes since getting bought out as far as business practices have not gone in a good direction.

It was a clever tactic. It worked, but like i said in the previous video. Just because you can doesn’t mean that you should.

@@GetSongsDone RIGHT?! also found it REALLY annoying because I literally just decided "hey I don't really use anything in the sub other than S1 Pro" so I just bought S1 Pro to be done with it and not three days later this crap happened hahaha.

The fact that I can't just buy Lead Architect if I want it. And if I do jump through all the hoops to get it, I have to subscribe to keep it.
    That's that Apple/UA type treatment.
I purchase the add-ons, the Mix FX and Presonus plugins that I want. I subscribe to enough "stuff."
I still love this DAW. But the Hybrid tactic is not gonna work on me.
I'll be buying a perpetual upgrade license when it's that time again.

Nah… I’ve moved on. The stench of corporate manipulation is just too strong. With apologies to the wonderful devs who are doing the best they can. I’m back on Cubase and I’m loving 13. Good luck everyone. 😊❤

They really fixed some bugs this time. The workflow is unmatched, but Cubase has to be a close second. Just had too many sessions to stop it right away.

Me too...PT finally got around to perpetual again, soo.. Im back home ...👍 And just keeping my S1 at 6.6 pro if anyone should ask for remix/minus1 files or anything else. But I wont be upgrading anymore unless Presonus change back to support pro users in a respectful way again

I love studio one, it’s a fantastic DAW, I’m paying for the yearly subscription. People need to stop complaining and make more music.

Thats great, and when they eventually say "you don't own the software, u just license it" and jack the price up enough, you music will be lost.
(Just like the gaming industry did BTW -- Ubuisoft) .... Keep supporting BS.

@@mhavock all software is a license. so, yeah. they could all pull the rug. use what you can to make music. Luna is free on PC now. . Also, maybe it's a good thing you aren't playing as many video games? Just sayin'
