    I think every color can do everything thats like draw, ko s, rush, basic things, but it differs in;
    Red manipulates power
    Black manipulates cost
    Purple manipulates don
    Blue manipulates deck
    Yellow manipulates life
    Green manipulates stance

      You picked a great time to get into the game actually, OP-03 is going to be wrapping up in a little less than a month, and many people viewed the "meta" in OP-03 as a bit boring and too much Red, which is understandable. However, in OP-04 we are going to get access to some really strong Leaders who should be able to balance things out and shake things up a little bit (especially Blue/Black Rebecca and Purple/Green Doffy coming in OP-04).

      Awesome to hear that, if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. I have been playing TCG's competitively for about 15 years now (starting with MTG back in 2008 and moving through most the big name titles) and One Piece TCG is one of the best TCG's I've ever played. The amount of polish and thought they put into this game is really satisfying. They made sure that you would never have to worry about being Resource starved or flooded, they simultaneously made sure that your resources will double over late in the game as ways to buff your Characters, the way different Leaders can change the entire playstyle of a deck that might share the same color as another Leader, lol I could go on, but I think you get my point. I'll finish with this: I had quit playing TCG's right before COVID and didn't plan on returning and then I came across this game and now I'm hooked and even running a RUclips channel on it haha.

    Black also tends to care about its trash pile. Unlike any of the other colors so far, black uses the trash as a resource:
    - OP-03 Blueno brings a character back from the trash on K.O.
    - OP-03 Kaku and OP-03 Rob Lucci character bottom deck two cards from the trash to activate their effects
    - The Dressrosa archetype from OP-04 trashes cards from the deck and uses the trash to activate many of their effects
    - OP-02 Sakazuki character et al. send a potential resource to the trash from the hand to activate their effects
    - Many of the OP-05 black cards revealed use the trash:
    - e.g. OP-05 Rob Lucci sends three cards from the trash to the bottom of the deck to activate his effect
    - e.g. OP-05 Rebecca brings a cost 3-7 card from the trash to hand then plays a cost 3 card from the hand)
    - Every black searcher iirc sends cards to the trash in addition to searching.

Black can do basically anything the other colors do, but usually at the cost of resources/life. So I can imagine as the games card pool expands purple could end up being crazy good.

    • @Vvulfrik
      @Vvulfrik  9 месяцев назад

      Appreciate the compliments :] As to the Trigger question: A Trigger can only be activated when you take a Life. When you take Life, every time be sure to check for a trigger, and if you have no Trigger or if you get a Trigger you do not want to use, make sure to tell your opponent as you bring the card to your hand: "No Trigger." However if you do get a Trigger from Life that you want to use, then you would simply reveal the card, use whatever the Triggered Effect is and then trash the card with the Trigger. All Triggered cards will be trashed upon using their Triggered Effect unless otherwise stated on the card (Example: Fuugetsu Omusubi) which is very rare.

      Yes, definitely check out the Blue Black Rebecca deck. It is a control style deck. The Leader is dual colored but still has 5 Life and can not attack lol, that's how "control"-y it is. The Leader's Effect is: Cost 1: If you have 6 or less Cards in Hand Look at the top 2 cards of your deck, you may reveal and add 1 Dressrosa type card to your hand and trash the rest. I started playing MTG back in 2008 and I will always have a special place for that game in my heart as it really is what introduced me to the TCG universe and was an incredibly fun and well designed game. However, I stopped playing MTG about 10 years ago and just started playing other TCG's and even taking breaks and such like when the pandemic hit etc.
      I was not a One Piece fan at all and only got into the game because I was looking for a new TCG to get into with my son. He is a huge One Piece fan, so I thought, "why not, lets give it a try." Here I am now haha, making a video every day and pouring hours of research and playtesting into the game and can't believe how good it is.
      In some ways the game is restrictive how there is no equivalent to MTG's "Instant" cast Spells, but there is still a lot of interactions between you and your opponent, which allows for potential outplays and so on. I have voiced some concerns in some of my other videos similar to this one where I actually have a big problem with how there is no equivalent to Doomblade in this game or even Terror or Wrath of God. However, I think as the game continues to age (because it is still very young at 3 sets) I think it will get through some of these growing pains. I hope so at least

    What exactly does lowering a cost of an opponents character do? Like how does it benefit you? (Trying to learn about the game)

    • @Vvulfrik
      @Vvulfrik  4 месяца назад

      So a Character card will always have a cost and certain removal cards will only be usable on Characters who cost a certain amount. However, if you can lower the cost of these characters into range to hit with your removal, you can start removing really big targets with smaller removal. So think of it like a way to combo.
      Example:
      1. A Character costs 5
      2. You have removal that can hit a 3 cost or less
      3. If you can lower the cost of the Character by -2, you can now hit the 5 cost Character with your KO that can only target 3's or less.
      Hopefully that made sense

    Why is lowering the cost of your opponents character a good thing? Doesn’t it mean your opponent can use the card for less Don and then use another card since he has some don left over?

    • @Vvulfrik
      @Vvulfrik  8 месяцев назад +1

      Good question. So your opponent will play the card for it's normal cost from their hand. However, when it is on the Field, Black cards can manipulate it's cost, lowering it into range of your Removal effects.
      Example:
      Sakazuki, a 6cost Character can KO a 5 Cost Character. If your opponent has a 10 Cost Character, then he is safe from Sakazuki. However, if you can lower said Characters by 5 (from an effect like Ice Age, or the 10 cost Kuzan's effect) you will be able to take out the 10 cost Character your opponent controls.
      Hopefully that made sense, just say if not I'll try to explain it again :]

    What so you mean by midrange? It's in nearly all the color slides.

    • @Vvulfrik
      @Vvulfrik  9 месяцев назад +2

      A "midrange" deck is a deck that just seeks to develop it's board taller (bigger characters) as opposed to building wider (smaller characters flooding the board). For example, a rush deck will typically not have a Character in it that costs 6 or more resources. Whereas a Midrange deck will have a very balanced curve of cards that might have 40% Characters that cost below 4, 40% that cost 4-7, and then 20% that cost 8+. Those numbers don't have to be exact, but you get the idea.

      They can be, for example, within the color Red, you might go against a Whitebeard who is more of a midrange style deck and you might be playing a Rush deck (Leader: Zoro). In that case, Game knowledge will really come in to play. But either deck can definitely win.

    When playing why not just keep attacking your opponents leader? What’s the point of attacking characters if you can keep buffing your characters and quickly get through life?

    • @Vvulfrik
      @Vvulfrik  10 месяцев назад +1

      So that is definitely one strategy, however, if you don't find ways to keep your opponents Characters in check they start to get control of the board. Then once they get to the point where they start dropping blockers it becomes very hard to close out the game. Again, it's a good idea to go for the Leader with attacks as much as possible, buffing and smashing etc. Just got to make sure they don't take too much control of the board.

      To help, I can give you a more practical example.
      As you know, characters cannot Attack usually on the turn they are played. If a player manager to keep a lot of characters on the board versus (you in this example) a player that just attacks leader, initially probably you Will gain a Life advantage, but after he deals with your characters you are in a position where you have immediate access to only your leader Attack, while your opponent can attack a lot more, wich probably will close the initial gap, and It puts you into a difficult situation to come back from.
      Trying to reach this situation Is one of the reasons why someone might want to try controlling the board, the goal Is forcing the opposition into having to invest resources in dealing with immediate threats and pressuring them into a losing position.

      @@Vvulfrik I thought of another question (these answers really helped). Is there any rock-paper-scissors like consensus on how colors interact with each other? Like is red strong against blue and yellow strong against red or anything?

    • @Vvulfrik
      @Vvulfrik  8 месяцев назад

      @@Spookyghost7 So in my opinion (other people might disagree) I think it's more about how the deck is built. For example, if a deck is built to be really Aggressive, like Law (Red/Green) it will do some major damage to a Control deck like Queen (Blue/Yellow) before it can get the ball rolling and has a very favorable matchup against it. However, another version of Blue like Croc, which is more Midrange-y actually has a pretty good matchup into the faster decks. So while both decks are technically Blue (with some Yellow in Queen), they have different strengths and weakness, even within the same color.
      Hopefully that helped :]

    This game is so busted. Currently (OP-04) RED beats everything in an extreme manner. On the long term, I think that only RED, BLACK and BLUE are worthwhile decks in this game

    Is there like standard or anything like that or can any card be used in tournaments

    • @Vvulfrik
      @Vvulfrik  9 месяцев назад

      So currently all cards are legal that have been printed that you can buy (as long as it is an English version over here in the West, because the East is a set ahead of us). They are still on the first "Devil Fruit" at the bottom right of the card as of OP-04. However, in OP-05 they are starting to print Devil Fruit symbols with a #2 inside of them. So if I had to guess they will probably have 1-2 year cycled formats. Again, I have no way of proving that, just an informed/educated guess.

      @Vvulfrik sounds good we have a bit b4 next set I'd assume since we just got this one

    • @Vvulfrik
      @Vvulfrik  9 месяцев назад

      @@shayed_6668 Oh definitely, and if I had to guess they will probably keep the 1st rotation for at least 3 more sets. Because currently there are still under 1000 cards over all out of all sets and structure decks combined (including OP-05 stuff that hasn't come out yet). So if I had to guess, it will be based on a cycle of 4 sets a year = 1 cycle and once they have probably 3-4 full cycles, they will cycle out the oldest etc. But again, I don't have actual confirmation on that theory, but it makes a lot of sense.

      @Vvulfrik  11 месяцев назад +1

      @@Krab9494 Good choice, Katakuri is a fun deck to start with, I'd recommend a list similar to this (which is a 3rd Place, 1024 player tournament deck):
      4x Sanji (2k Counter) $4
      4x Charlotte Opera $1
      4x Charlotte Cracker (Smoothie can work here as well) $16
      4x Charlotte Pudding (Searcher) $2
      4x Charlotte Perospero $40
      4x Streusen (2k Counter) $3
      4x Shirahoshi $1
      4x Charlotte Katakuri (8c) $120
      4x Charlotte Linlin (10c) $20
      1x Charlotte Linlin (7c) $3
      2x Charlotte Katakuri (4c) $1
      4x Charlotte Brulee $15
      4x Charlotte Pudding (2k Counter) $1
      3x Thunderbolt $1
      Now, some of these cards are a little expensive and I don't know your budget/collection. My recommendations on substitutions until you can afford the list as is would be:
      4x Shirley in the place of Perospero
      4x Charlotte Smoothie in the place of Cracker
      4x Charlotte Daifuku in the place of Katakuri (8c)
      4x Charlotte Linlin (7c) in the place of Linlin (10c)
      4x Pekoms in the place of Brulee
      1x Thunderbolt for the final spot after replacing the Linlin 10c's with 7c's.
      The last thing that I would recommend is to just buy an ST-07 Set, which will include 2 of the Charlotte Linlin 7c's, 2 Charlotte Katakrui 4c's, 4x Pudding (2k counter), and I believe 4x Brulee. It will also have the Daifuku's to help compensate for anything you might be missing. Another good option, since you already have the Yamato starter is to substitute in the Oden's, Ace's, and 5 cost Vanilla Yamato's wherever needed. Ultimately though, if you are serious about running Katakuri, you can get around not running 4 of the 8c Katakuri. The starter cheaper list I would recommend would be as follows:
      4x Sanji (2k)
      4x Opera
      4x Smoothie
      4x Pudding (searcher)
      4x Shirley
      4x Streusen (2k)
      4x Shirahoshi
      4x Daifuku
      2x Linlin (10c)
      2x Linlin (7c)
      4x Katakuri (4c)
      4x Pudding (2k)
      4x Thunderbolt
      2x Oden
      Hope this helps and wasn't too confusing lol.
