      I only just got on board with OPTCG about a month ago as some of my good friends play it and I don't think I've seen the words "Out of stock" used this much since the pandemic!
      What's even sadder is the price on eBay and the fact that most of them price it so high they don't even get watchers so those cards are just gathering dust and no one is enjoying them

    I think the best thing about the sim is you can get all the fun of playing for free and then if you want to play IRL you can test decks there and then order the specific cards you need. Sealed product is the biggest cost
    If you buy ST-10 you can mostly play a R/P deck without much more investment

  • @KingBrachion92
    @KingBrachion92 7 месяцев назад +1

    I would have put cost as Con No. 1 and 2. Haha.
    Investing in the game is also a con because people are hoarding boxes to the point where sealed product is near impossible to find at retail price. I'm in a FB group where the same person selling boxes of OP05 for $150 on release weekend is now asking $300.
    (Sure, they have a right to do so, free market, whatever. Still sucks.)
    Yes, single cards can be found for dirt cheap--especially because people hunting for chase rares creates a ton of bulk--but those cards will only take you so far; I've had games on the sim where I'm winning with budget decks until my opponent drops a card I know costs $40-50 and it totally takes over the game.
    Despite that, I am enjoying my time with the game. Coming from MTG and YGO, it's "simpler" but not in a bad way. However, my best decks (Enel and Katakuri) have proxies so I can't play them in local tournaments, so I'm forced to use ones like Belo Betty, who don't stand a chance. It is what it is.

    Which Starter deck is the best one to get?
    In germany one starter deck costs 25 bucks and if you need to get two its 50 bucks to get starting which is a lot imo.
    In yugioh i like to play control decks instead of combo heavy stuff, if that exists in one piece

    • @Vvulfrik
      @Vvulfrik  Месяц назад

      I don't know if I would go with a Starter deck for OP07, the best Control decks in the current format are Black Lucci (lots of removal) or Green Bonney (lots of lockdown). My next 4 videos lined up are going to be Budget versions of the best decks in the current format, so I'd definitely check back in over the next 4 days for those. But if you are just looking for a Starter deck to get started with, I'd probably go with ST-10 or ST-13, which are a little more expensive than normal Starter decks, but they have a lot of good cards and Leaders to build around.

    I quit playing mainly due to the west being behind Japan in terms of meta. There is 0 surprises, everyone is just copying meta decks and you basically know what you are up against a year in advance. Rising prices, any % speedrun powercreep and a clear bias in colours, a rock-paper-scissors meta where you can basically scoop once you see your bad matchup because there is no sideboard and no real lgs support by Bandai is not helping it either.

    Bo1s are inexcusable. The community, the playerbase, needs to take reigns of the situation and eliminate Bo1s as anything but a tiebreaker. Doesn't even have to be a side-deck thing, a straight-up repeat is fine, but Bo1 is absurd for anything but casual play... Like, who the hell plays just a single game with their friends, even?

    Whoever told you that rock paper scissors is the signs of a balanced meta lied. There are 15+ different leaders and only 3 see tournament results and that’s only because they beat each other. & that’s ignoring the fact that those 3 leaders are all newly released OP5 leaders

    • @Vvulfrik
      @Vvulfrik  7 месяцев назад +4

      Hey, first of all I just wanted to say thank you for the comment. And I just wanted to stress that while this was just my opinion, I believe that the RPS format is the only way to build a balanced game/design from the ground up if competition is the model you are going for. I don't think that OP has done that perfectly, but this set seeing 3 different color decks has been a breath of fresh air and a step in the right direction. Generally speaking, I believe there should be a strong control deck that is kept in check by a strong aggro deck that is kept in check by a strong midrange deck that is kept in check by the strong control deck. One Piece doesn't quite match that perfectly, and I do believe that there are certain design flaws in the game that I have even called out/mentioned in previous videos. However, I was just curious, what do you think constitutes a balanced meta? (I'm not asking with any attitude or hostility, just genuinely curious)
      Also, there are nearly 50 Leaders in the game now as of OP05/ST10, I have also complained that there are far too many Leaders. It's hard enough to balance and find an identity between 5-6 colors in a game, I would argue it's impossible to balance 50 different Leaders, so I think I'm definitely on board with you there.

    • @MannyGamboaTV
      @MannyGamboaTV 7 месяцев назад

      @@Vvulfrik you should be able to bring more than 3 different leaders and play competitively. Games should not be entirely dependent on matchups or even worse, die rolls, as is the case with OPTCG. Nuances in turns in one piece are the WORST of any card game. Decisions are limited due to boring card design that every card game has. Therefore perfect plays are extremely forecastable and limit skill expression. Not to mention that you can sit across the table from a monkey on yellow and still lose just because their life was cracked lol

    • @Vvulfrik
      @Vvulfrik  7 месяцев назад

      @@MannyGamboaTV I'm not sure how your locals are, but I see some pretty wild decks pop up in the top 4 at mine and there are multiple players at my locals who are Judges at main events or have topped at them (just pointing out they aren't noobs). I've piloted Queen and Black Yellow Linlin decks to the top, I've seen Red/Black Sabo's, and even Blue/Green Rosinante among others. The problem is with all the net deckers who show up to the biggest tournaments with all the "best" decks in the format. In all fairness, they are definitely the most consistent. I get why they do it, they invest a lot of time and money to compete in these big tournaments traveling etc, they want to have the highest chance of success possible.
      As far as your comment on Yellow goes, I totally agree with you and I think triggers are getting out of hand. I'm hoping they print more practical "banish" options in the future.
      Other than that I totally respect your opinion on these other matters, and if you don't like One Piece for all the legit reasons you posted, again no hatred here, I feel you on those.

      @@Sehon13Ultd I mean Queen are literally Purple Staples, Kat 8 drop help Kat leader become good enough in a red meta Era, Bors were cheap since red rule the meta for a whole til Saka came out which kills red so like literally how the meta being play, and top 3 meta decks are Purple luffy, Enel, and Saka, all 3 decks have those cards you talked about, how about just buy it once for staples and never again 🤔

      Whether a card was cheap in the past doesn’t matter if a player is new and didn’t have a chance to get those cards yet. I’m not saying you shouldn’t buy them, I’m just saying they’re expensive. So saying the only expensive cards are the alt arts is false.

      @Sehon13Ultd never did say the only expensive cards are alt arts but ok, but then again this happen almost everytime with a new tcg that isn't pokemon. so like just buy them if not there always budget cards that you can have for fun etc.

      It’s a bunch of sports cards people trying to pump prices and grade cards. The TCG itself is trash and not nearly as played

    Forgot the #1 CON: NO STOCK, and 06 and 07 already appear they'll be sold out at launch.
    Because of cost - Don't play Black, Yellow.
    Because of cost don't play Tourney's
    50$ to 100$ will not win you or even rank at Locals, closer to $200 will get you top 6-8.
    Get a group together that will let you play other language cards as this takes the cost to play down significantly.
    Bandai desn't care if the west plays and will never mitigate these disasters and new players is not something they seem to want at all. Many in the OP community no longer want new players either - price is driving this a little but it's no available stock is the number one reason.

    Dead game. My friends try getting me in at the start of the game. Couldn't even find cards. He stays and hurts like crazy for cards. I left. He got me into it 2 months ago, again cuz he wants us to play with him. Can't even find all the cards I need or find packs at the store. Again, dead game when u can't even get cards in the hands of people. U don't see any kids playing, just some old man lol. I have the money to buy the cards but I don't like to support card games like this. Sorry but no sorry to the community.

    Eh, the gameplay is stale and the cards are overpriced. Definitely not worth playing.

    One of the best things about Flesh and Blood is that if the creators notice if certain cards are shooting up in price they print they hell out of it next set. Screw making your game a market, I want as many people playing it as possible.

      If that is true, I wish it helped the market prices out way more in than it does. Cards that any serious player is going to need at some point like Art of War ($30 each), CnC ($80 each), EStrike ($35 each), Crown of Prov ($75), Crown of Dom ($65), and Fyendal's ($85) are still way too expensive. Then every class has their own special overpriced Equipment like Spellbound Creepers ($125), Flamescale Furnace ($65), Phantasmal Footsteps ($140), and so on...
      I won't even get into super specialty cards you want for certain decks like Arknight Shard, Eye of Ophidia, or Heart of Fyendal.
      Please don't misunderstand me, I like Flesh and Blood, I have 5 different decks currently: Katsu, Viserai, Dromai, Prism, and Teklovossen. Some decks are more on the fun side and some are more competitive ones. However, I can't even fully complete my higher tier decks because I can't afford the equipment in them.
