PLENTY of BROKEN BITS after my trip with DESIGNED & BUILT

- I just got back from one of my favourite trips in Tasmania to date. Richard (Designed & Built) & I spent a week on the West Coast of Tasmania doing Lake Cumberland, Climies, Pieman Heads, Sandy Cape, Balfour & $1000 Track & in the process I burned out he motor of my 24v Red Winch, developed a horrible death wobble & completely lost 2nd gear. It's time to fix some of these breakages while also continuing some work on the GU Build! Check out this episode for a sneak peak from the trip with Designed & Built!

Thanks for taking us on a Torture tour Timmy! Was a hell of a time, loved that preview and the rest of the video. You’re a legend!
Was my absolute pleasure mate anytime! Thanks for having me. Keen to see the full series 🙏🏻
As always great episode....I'm also enjoying the collaboration vids....was good seeing you and the mighty Patrol on 4wd 24/7.....showing the boys tracks in Tasie
Haha yeah it’s always good fun to work with other people. I am in a unique situation where I’m kinda the only creator down here and it’s a small place and so people are always looking for local knowledge and tracks to get away with the same tracks they do all the time I think. I welcome it, love wheeling with a range of different people!
What an intro! Pwoah love it mate
Thanks heaps mate!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Can’t wait for the torture tour video, makes me want to get back down there asap haha Gu is looking mint too
Haha mate I couldn’t be keener for you to get down for a solid razz. I didn’t expect you round these parts I was worried I’d condemned our friendship when the red winch came off. 😂😂
@@timmyhasheart hahaha you’ve now got 1 strike against your name…. 🤣
@@DanielKistler 😅😅 treading carefully..
@@timmyhasheart 🤣🤣
Top 5 channel for me, but yeah this trip is insane and Tassie really pours it on, it looks like an incredible place. Id absolutely love to give these tracks a crack one day.
Yeah mate it is awesome down here, tbh it feels quite small now once you’ve done all the tracks but coming here for a trip and knocking them all off would be awesome 👍🏻👍🏻
Another great ep and interesting to see what’s probably the worlds first ‘after black hammer’ on a 4wd video.
Cheers mate! Thanks for always tuning in 👊🏻👊🏻
Another ripper episode mate!! Great explanation on what went wrong with the winch mate. Can’t wait for the shed fit out / hoist videos 🔥🔥
Incoming mate! Next fortnight!
@@timmyhasheart keen as mate!!
Nice new shed Timmy 👌👍
Yeah boy, coming along mint! Episode on it coming soon!
@@timmyhasheart looking forward to seeing it mate 👍
Off to the naughty corner 😂 what a cracking looking trip!
Hahaha it’s in the naughty corner mate, yeah trip was absolutely unreal, so much fun
Im so glad you licence decent music for your videos. Its getting really annoying to hear the same half dozen royalty free tracks on every other youtube video.
I know what you mean but tbh it’s bloody expensive, to use that blink song it cost me $32US haha I only do it sometimes 😅
@@timmyhasheart Just record your own?
I somehow randomly found a video of yours on facebook from like 10yrs ago, you go pretty good. lol
Thanks for another great video. Super impressed you got one done given everything you’ve been doing lately. You must barely sleep. Thanks for the great content
Hahaha lately it’s been full on dude, doing a bit of shed work for next fortnight! Looking so good out there
Hi again Timmy nice work as usual.
I'm a sparky by trade I can tell you the reasons motors burn out is a breakdown in the insulating layers between stator windings.
This happens due to overload or water ingress either of which will heat the winch motor up beyond its temperature limits.
I wouldn't be so quick to throw away the burnt out stator, take it to a motor rewinder, they may be able to improve on manufacturers windings too!
Cheers Timmy
Yeah awesome dude thank you, while I have a pretty good understanding of DC, DC motors are something that I’m not very well versed in haha. I appreciate that info maybe I’ll take it in to get it rewound? Cause the brushes are fine it’s literally just the stator windings that are fried. Thanks heaps mate 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great work mate, thanks for taking us along. Love getting to the Pieman to our shack. You guys did it all ❤
No worries mate I wish I’d filmed more! But it was definitely nice to get away and just chill. Beautiful spot down there!
Great content Timmy!!
Explanation on point mate 👌
Cheers mate appreciate it 🔥🔥
Great to watch as always Tim
Cheers mate, thanks for watching 👍🏻👍🏻
👍👍 This is absolutely first class 👍👍
Cheers mate, thanks for watching 🔥🔥
Videos keep getting better man, love the content. Keep it goin🤙🏽
Thanks mate, the last 2 have been a bit of a mish mash but they’ll get better now I’m coming to the ass end of this transitioj
Nice work mate. Looked like a mint trip.
Gu coming along nicely 👌
Cheers mate! Very keen to get this shed done in the next ep, then we can make serious progress on it!
@@timmyhasheart nice one. Definitely be awesome getting a hoist. Also the kinchrome setup, thats gonna be sweet. You gonna give a run down on that to.
@@koontproductionsyeah mate! Next fortnight! Shed fit out!
Thanks for sharing!

@@timmyhasheart I subbed for the high mount winch stuff, 👍

Sick brother 🔥 soundtrack is mad too, content is great bra keep it up
Thanks mate!! Love me some Blink 👊🏻👊🏻
Hanging to get to tassie. Awesome video as usual mate
Bloody ripper place when the conditions are right mate! Cheers 🔥🔥
Maaaan even though it cost a log for the song, i watched the blink 182 wheeling scene half a dozen times and it makes me wana ship my 45 from New Zealand to tassie to hit the tracks.
Hahaha mint mate thank you that’s sick. 🙏🏻
Mate it’s always bloody fun down west tracks are getting gnarlier every year no probs on the bikes but hehe great vid bro u up for some gold yet ? Sing out when ya keen bro cheers
Love the west coast mate! Best place in tas.. you mean like going after gold? Na dude I reckon if I started I wouldn’t be able to stop. 😅
@@timmyhasheart ha yeah its s bit addictive but ya down west a bit chuck a pan in at most creeks between trial and pieman you’ll find a bit bro
@@tazyt3388 Yeah cool! I might have to get myself a pan and have a diddle
0:46, "Go away" that made me laugh.
Hahaha 🤣
Why the Nissan GU and GQ patrol front bull-bars are not stamped like ARB Delux bumpers for 60,70,79,80 series etc. It's all comes in tube and the owner welded them together the way he likes. I mean Toyota, ford, Isuzu etc. Bull-bars are not made of of bunch of iron tubes welded together
Interesting take haha. Yeah you can get ARB style bars for patrols also, just I think most owners of them prefer tube style bars. The one on the GU is actually bought like that, ADR compliant etc.
Another great informative episode timmy, how did u manage to put 2 motors on the cobra?keen to learn more, cheers
Using an adapter made by red winch that’s usually for the quad motor hornets, allows you to connect one ox to the back of the other. 👍🏻👍🏻
@@timmyhasheart please do make a video bout it if u ever twin motor the cobra again timmy, thanks heaps✌
Gday Timmy, just wondering what turbo your running
On the Gq
Ahh it’s an Arashi 18G mate 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks
Tim do u have a link for were u got your new carpet?
Hey mate just search for it on eBay that’s where I got it!
Open tray = freedom.
Light weight and low bby!!!
What do you do for work, just out of curiosity? If you keep this up, you won't need to do that too much longer. Cheers
This is just a hobby mate and I fully intend it to stay that way, I enjoy it too much to make it a job at this stage. Something I might talk more about in a future episode. But I actually work in computers haha.
@@timmyhasheart I knew it! Haha. I was going to ask if you're in IT or something. I noticed how much effort you put into the on screen wiring diagram.
What is the make/brand of that red coloured winch rope?
Ahhh on the warn it’s a carbon offroad, and on the cobra it’s sniper line from road runner offroad
@@timmyhasheart thank you
🔥🔥🔥❤️
🥵🥵🥵
Did your gu used to be leaf rear ?
Na mate always a coily 👍🏻👍🏻
Normally, burnt motors are to low voltage, on winch trucks we have always gone 2 batteries per motor on warn 6hp.
Yeah that’s actually what Kistler’s suggestion was, tbh I think if this is a low voltage problem, it would most likely be more due to the choking of the second motor due to the 1 solenoid, I explained it in this video cause I always monitor my voltage at the batteries and never really dips below 22-24. But that’s definitely not what the second motor would be seeing inline, considering the first motor is fine. However Cam from road runner thinks it looks more like a short, considering you’d think a burn from low voltage would burn between the commutator & stators. But yeah in any case 2 OX motors off 2 batteries is asking a lot. Well sort her.
@timmyhasheart I didn't realise only a single solenoid also, yeah I see where the issues are now. Each motor should be a separate system. Anyways I'm sure you have this covered.
@@Brennomac83 yeah absolutely agree, especially the amps that an ox draw but like I’m also new to all of this, I do understand a lot about DC, but there’s people like Kistler and Cam etc. that I try to lean on when things like this happen. The good thing about power is it’s just math.. so if the math is right the system is right type thing.. but yeah cheers for the comment mate! Appreciate it
Thank god I only found this channel as I was coming off my bitch ass 12 month probationary driving point. Put a devastating amount of soot out last weekend.
Hahaha that’s awesome 😂
Missed the first 2 minutes of the vid checking out booty pics from spam comments 😂 time to rewind 💁♂️
Hahaha I know right! I’ve never seen em before. 🤣🤣
@@timmyhasheart hahah just a few side ho’s that’s all 😂
The hell are these comments timmy😂
Their on every Aussie channels like Timmy’s their trying to get you to click their ‘link’
Absolutely no idea haha, they haven’t been on previous videos - Maybe I shouldn’t have paid that weird bloke in the alley for views.
@@timmyhashearthahahahaha😂
Yeah they're smashing every channel
How come you put red on gu
I did explain it in this video haha 🤣
@@timmyhasheart I’ve only watched the first bit I’ll get onto the rest now Gaga
Love your content Timmy but I must say that the music in this video was too much. Cheers
Appreciate the feedback mate, I assume you mean the blink song through the wheeling vids? I didn’t have enough footage for a complete story with talking and timeline so I just did random clips to some music, it’s all I could really do to make it flow. Thanks again dude appreciate it 🙏🏻
@@timmyhasheart The track was towards the first part of the video. Didn't realise it was Blink but then again I was never a fan of them. Not having a go because the music wasn't to my taste, it's all subjective and a greater percentage of your viewers may disagree with my opinion but at the very least I think toning down the volume results in a better experience when the music can be polarising (not as abrasive for those who don't enjoy, who may then lower the volume further, and those who do enjoy it can turn up their volume). No grudges, no worries but appreciate your explanation. Cheers. ps:water off a duck's back should anyone want to refer to me as Karen ;)
@cyclemoto8744 haha fuck that mate all opinions welcome, I wouldn’t typically blare music over a wheeling segment but yeah, had no storyline or narrative it was just a mish mash of clips so had to make it flow haha.
Appreciate the comment mate! 🙏🏻
@@timmyhasheart lol . Your first sentence = Gold!. The thought of editing content for viewing on RUclips (not to mention, presenting, filming, planning...) is not something I'm interested in, so I appreciate all content made available to me by all RUclipsrs. I may not agree with it all, but I respect the time and effort of others who make it available to me .
Haha opens the hype reel with @designedandbuilt under the bonnet. Burn 🔥
And then you driving the switchback on Cumberland in one. 🔥🔥👌🏼
