- Colby has tried to conquer Lake Cumberland 3 times in the past & has never made it past the switchback. Each time he has left on a tow truck. But after a long year in the shed, he is ready to redeem himself in the rebuilt LN106 Hilux. He's bolted on LN167 hubs, steering box, twin locked his diffs & installed treps on beadlocks front & rear with a custom high steer setup. Is it up for the task this time? Watch and find out!

Wow Wow Wow, that flex on both rigs on the way in was insane. The Leafy’s on the lux was crazy. Then the switchback, both nailed it up and down. Was great for us to hear about all the changes of line attacks in such a short period. Once again an awesome awesome Vlog. Both should be very proud of that run. I bet a few man hugs were shared.

Yeah it’s been hanging there in the balance for quite a while haha, fell after a heavy wind a few months back. It’s made the switchback a LOT easier that’s for sure.

@@timmyhasheart 100%. I used to run a 2 inch leaf allround in my rn105 lux and that did ok. I ran 4 inch efs shocks and removed the bolts on the leaf retainers. Was twin locked and ran 32 simexs which were a 33.. took it down to tassie and done a diff after Balfour track. Ended my week of wheelin after 1 day lol.. Been in patrols ever since though.

Hahaha I appreciate that mate, to be honest the switchback is quite friendly now, I wouldn’t hesitate taking any vehicle with 32-33’s with a locker or two or a winch, but yeah when you get to anything above 37’s and twin locks it does make everything look a lot easier than it is for sure. Yeah it’s changed a lot, I think when we did it we turned around above it which is the OG OG line, which was my favourite but since that tree fell you can’t really drive it like that cause the tree brought a bunch of soil down on the high side making it even tippier, thanks for watching mate appreciate it and your kind words 🙏🏻🙏🏻

If you mean Mac and Pooly and that, I know them & they’re all great wheelers, unfortunately they just had a few issues at the time, I have no doubt all of them could do it the day we did it. The switchback used to be tippy as all hell.
No doubt. I’m pretty amateur out on the tracks and don’t underestimate anything. Just like to enjoy all the content you guys produce. Pretty cool how most of you know each other.

Yeah it’s super fun, honestly though I think this is the most driveable it’s been, the switchback is very very very doable, that could just be the 37’s talking but it’s nowhere near as scary as it used to be that’s for sure.

Yeah that was a few months ago, we cleared it & that’s what you see in this episode, us driving it after the landslide and it’s honestly made it a bit easier 👍🏻

Thanks heaps mate, yeah the switchback angles just make no sense especially in person haha, and now that you have to do a left hook up it, it makes no sense facing up the hill how you’re gonna wind up pivoting 270 to drive the switch but the cars just seem to skid steer and pull it off it’s wild haha

It’s nothing too exciting but I can definitely go through it at some point haha, gazebo, swag, stretcher & my pantry is the driver side box and my passenger side box is my tools and spares, clothes and pillow behind my seat in the extra cab 💪

Not sure about the bloke raving about them but they’re a Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT and yeah I haven’t used too many tyres but I can say they’re better than a RAZR 👍🏻👍🏻

Any thoughts on the Mickey Thompson Baja Pro XS 38x13.50r17 ? a second set for serious offroading ?
I’m actually looking at treps in a 37 for the nasty stuff, and then I’ll keep these Baja boss in a 37 for these kinda mid range difficulty trips 👍🏻👍🏻

That ln 106 im in love what a beast theres always talk about Nissan vs t Hilux haha. Did he have to change the gear reto for the locking hubs cause don't the ln have elected four wheel drive system that the CVS are always turning?
It’s got 4.7 transfer case reductions, and 4.55 nitro gear diffs and 30 spline chromo axles if that answers the question 🍻

Had a mate he had a ln167 push button 4x4 so the CVS are always turning even in 2wd. So he changed it to locking hubs and gees it really stuffed every up in the gear ratio completely.
@@chriscoyne4827 ah okay, yep these older hiluxs are only spinning the cv’s in High 4 or Low 4, has gear stick selection for the transfer case rather than electric

I use Final Cut Pro, but all of the ideas came from other creators that I enjoy watching, I very much look up to the way TJ edits and take a lot of inspiration from him. 🤙🏻🤙🏻

Ahh it’s had bollards now for about 2-3 years, understandably so in my opinion.. people seem to just go around the mud until it ends up as wide as a football oval instead of just sticking to the original ruts. Saw the same thing on climies, bypasses around every single thing.. I dunno why they go 4wding to go around everything but anyway. What annoyed me is people have been going around the bollards and driving up there anyway. Which is a sure way to lose the whole track to getting locked up. 🤷🏻♂️
@timmyhasheart damn righto. Yeah that's the worst part, if you can't do the 1 or 2 lines there because it's too wet or near impossible, you should either wait for a drier season or just walk it like you fellas did. As you said, enough people do it they will just close the whole track

Hey buddy there about the same I had both and no difference to noise.
To be honest my whole car is noisy so it doesn’t even really phase me but I do find the Mickey to be slightly louder, but yeah they’re not meant to be quiet hey haha

Haha that’s how they are mate. 😂 they’re all the right way, they’re all on correctly, have a closer look, smaller blocks are on the inside, bigger blocks on the outside, it’s just that the wave direction goes the same way both sides like a Bridgestone dueler, but yes they’re all fitted with inside inside and outside outside 👍🏻👍🏻
