Oh. My. Glob. You JUST solved EVERYTHING for me with that adapter. I have a Sony body and Sony glass, but was thinking about getting the Zf. You just gave me the "justification" for why that switch would be just fine. Wow. Thank you!
This video is incredibly helpful for me, thank you so much! I just sold my A7C II but still have the Sony Zeiss 35mm f/2.8 and 55mm f/1.8. Now I’m planning to get a second-hand Nikon Z7 with a Megadap adapter-problem perfectly solved.
Great video, your spot on that Nikon should have released a more retro inspired lens with a dedicated aperture collar. Right now the pricing on the all black ZF is pretty damn tempting. I ended up getting a D850 😂
I concur! The 58 mm / 1:1.4 Nokton SL II - S and the others in this range (90mm, 40 mm / 1:2.0 Ultron SL II - S & 28 mm / 1:2.8 Color Skopar SLII-S). I love these. They have the correct aesthetics and are no heavy.
@@shootswithcoops No Coops, The manual lens from their SLII-S range are near-perfect. The only issue is that we have to use the FTZ adapter, which adds to the weight (a little).
@@shootswithcoops Probably are due to being all metal. Looking at the 40mm though, it's so sexy on the Zf. Suits it way more than the plastic looking lenses Nikon makes.
Yes, I too was unhappy with the Nikon lens release for the ZF. I decided to go compact, but manual. So far, I have bought 2 of the older Zeiss classic lenses with the F-Mount, along with Voigtlander's SLII-S range of small manual, perfect aesthetics-matching lenses. With the Nikon Zf focus confirmation and the FTZ adapter, I have found a combination perfect for me.
Would be absolutely thrilled if you ever did a “walk around” video with your ZF, would love to see your process with it and some examples you shoot with it, as your film work is really stunning and has a great vibe to it. Cheers!
Thanks for the video but in all candor it seems the autofocus was really slow relative to my nikkor s lens on my ZF..........AND does the aperture ring on that lens change the aperture on the camera? I dont think so but maybe I am wrong.
Thx for this video. You talk about 2nd version. There are two second versions, ETZ21 and ETZ21 PRO!? I have the ETZ21. I tried the new Viltrox 28/4.5 and it failed. Just like the Sony FE 50/1.8 with the latest firmware. Only when I tried it with an older megadap firmware (reset), it worked but only with my 50/1.8.
The continuous AF works seamlessly for an adapted lens. Wow. Interested in the techart adapter not working for you when I have seen nothing but praise for their Z>M adapter. Maybe they put all the effort into that one.
I bought this adapter not long ago, brand new, i wanted to try some of the Sony G compact prime lens..I bought the 40mm G lens lens with the adapter and tried it on the ZF first, i mounted the adapter to the camera 📷 and then the lens to the adapter, turned the camera on, the camera could not read the lens and would not focus on the ZFC ,ZF OR Z6 MKII.

This is an incredibly timely video. I've been scanning the net looking for possible suitable lenses were I to buy a Zf in the current sales.
Thanks mate, glad I could help
One thing I would add is that I like the idea of mechanical manual focus, not focus by wire.

Voightlander makes a couple of manual lenses for the Zf.
They are pretty heavy

@@---us7qf I was thinking the Nokton 40mm f/1.2, which is specifically made for full frame Nikons.

Yeah sounds good, I can film a street video with the ZF

Almost a year with the voigtlander 40mm 1.2 and it’s been perfection.
I have owned the M-mount version of that lens, amazing
Would you kindly make another video on this adapter that is photo focused, please?
yeah sure thing
Wait a second, I recently watched one of your videos titled "Why I sold my Nikon Zf for a Leica M10". What did I miss?
That video was from last year, giving the ZF another go with these lenses, much more enjoyable
Thx for this video.

i have the PRO
The exact video I was looking for 🙌
Thanks for watching

Yeah I though the same, the M mount one is so good I figured the Z-E would be too
I was just about to sell my loxias because i left sony but i might just get the adapter and sell the sony body. The lenses are awesome.
never sell those! haha
@ now that I know this adapter works they won’t be going anywhere

That definitely hasn’t happened to me
My dream setup is Thypoch 28mm 1.4 & 40mm 1.2 voigtländer
How is the distorsion of the 40mm f2.5 on Zf?
Practically zero
@@shootswithcoops very interesting, thank you
voigtlander 40mm f1.2 is the only way to go ... to match the retro vibe
Is the adapter weather sealed?
unfortunately not
Anything for Fujifilm or Canon FD/EF glass?
Pretty sure viltrox made one for canon ef
This guy is probably two meters high!) Watching how small camera seems in his hands))
almost 2m tall haha
but viltrox have 40 mm f/2,5 on Z mount
yes but its not as good as the sony, and that lens doesn't have an aperture ring. only their crop sensor lenses do
Voigtländer. If you don't mind focusing yourself.
great lens
Might be ok for photography but the video didn't impress?
photo is great, I hadn't setup the optimal video settings internally, my bad
Switch off in the first 5 seconds of the video
thanks mate
