Indispensable accessory for Nikon Z owners. But in my opinion its best use is for lenses with character unobtainable with native Z lenses (in other words, get a Z 180-600 or better for wildlife). I have the adapter and E mount Zeiss primes, but the funny thing is that since I got a Z6iii, I’ve been using the cheap plastic Z 40/2 99% of the time. It has a look I like a lot and makes me question the money I’ve spent on more expensive glass.
Sony A-mount to FE-mount is essentially mirrorless adapters because most late Sony DSLT's are well SLT's, single-lens translucent meaning they have no mirror per say. And electronic viewfinders.

Thanks for reviewing this adaptor. I was planning on buying it, but the stab issue gives me pause. The Nikon colours in your footage are so superior to the Sony colours, it's not even a competition. Sony has the best AF, but those ICKY COLOURS keep me away from Sony.
The bunny cinema was ours! Beautiful! Really like the exposure on the Nikon! Stabe is not as good, but if the content is great who cares! Did I count correctly 6 street crossings in one video?
I used this adapter with the z8 and the Sigma "bokeh king" 105mm f/1.4 Art lens for a low light video of a fast moving firebreating hoolahooper at f/1.4. It nailed the focus for 6mins, never losing her eyes a single time. That made me very happy😊
Hey, just a heads up regarding stabilization - turn off the lens OSS! I've been using the FTZ21 Pro on my ZF for a few months with all kinds of E mount glass, and I've found the IBIS does a much better job on it's own than it does when trying to sync with Sony OSS in general, not just the 200-600
Great adapter, my best use case for it on Nikon Z is the Samyang 135mm T1.8 Sony E mount lens. Autofocus works, lens is sharp AF, no CA. Samyang's Nikon Z lenses are very sparse right now, so this is the best way to use it.
The optical coatings of Zeiss and Nikon have unique characteristics, but they also share some similarities that are well-aligned with the programming of Nikon sensors color science, resulting in a viable setting up. This configuration has received high praise from many users, who believe it outperforms the offerings of Sony, Canon, and Nikon in their respective native systems. It is important to clarify that this modification was developed with the sole intention of facilitating still photography, as opposed to video. However many users have praised its performance in video, stating that it feels entirely organic and not like an adaptation.
Here's a conundrum: Sony looks better in artifical light, Nikon looks better in natural light. So really the best set up is a tiny Sony for the studio despite zero need for IBIS or slow-mo, and then a Nikon for outdoors that needs all the perks the a7SIII has. 😂
@@PJ-om2wq True you can still use them without AF. No internal focus motor lens adapters on the market to support it. As large as the FTZ adapter is you would think it would.
I have a Megadap Pro. Works great most of the time. Very occasionally it insists on closing the aperture all the way down and stays there until you take it off and put it back on again. Not frequent enough to be a deal breaker, but annoying when it happens. Also, according to the manual you can't change lens or mount the adapter with the camera turned on. I don't know whether that's a real issue, because the Z mount is designed so that no power is applied until the pins are fully aligned. It could just be avoiding liability were something to go wrong.
My impression with the Megadap ETZ21 non-pro version is the processor isn't fast enough to process/pass through the signals between the camera and lens to enable adapted lenses to "keep up" with demanding dynamic movement. e.g. the adapter could not AF the Sony 200-600 while zooming unless you zoomed glacially slow. I think all the adapter needs is a faster processor, but I surmise that may create space/power/cost challenges. From what I understand the Pro version doesn't provide any improvements either -- it appears to use the same chip.
Im actually thinking about getting it for my z6 ii but im scared it wouldn't be able to follow focus bride and groom walking towards me, especially in some backlight or sunset... I guess I'll have to buy it to try it and then hope I'll be able to sell it.
Interestingly, in this comparison I like the Nikon files better. Your face looks more red and the colors more saturated on the Sony with the same lens. I can't really comment on the IBIS as it seems pretty good on both. What is really strange is the colors on the street look completely different. Did you notice this? On the Sony the road looks almost silver, while on the Nikon is looks like a typical street. No idea what the reason for this is. Let me know what you think please. Thank you.

Isn't it wild how while using manual focus you're able to use the shutter button to quickly go back into autofocus but it doesn't work with native Z lenses. Stupid nikon.
Nikon Z cameras allow full-time manual focus whenever you turn the lens ring. You can instantly get back to AF by tapping your shutter release button, or preferably using BBF. It negates even needing stupid manual/AF "modes".

Only stupid guys will use Megadap to get Sony lenses on Nikon cameras. Stick with Sony bodies that are on par with Nikon. Don't carry another gadget along for nothing.
They fixed that months ago with a firmware update. If you have one of these update your firmware. Myself and numerous others have posted here and elsewhere the battery drain issue has been fixed.
Megadap is a piece of shit few years ago, slow and not even in AF as it claims. The new one may be better due to the smaller chip but the motor drives that the AF may not. Don't waste your money for so claimed functionality.
Not sure if it's possible. The Z mount is physically bigger than everyone else's (including Sony's E-mount), so it's easier to adapt. The Z mount also has a shorter flange distance so I don't think they would focus on a Sony camera even if they could adapt.
@@audioupgrades if Sony's bodies are better, than why can't we use Nikon lenses on them? And Sony sensors are made with Nikon semiconductor machines, that they buy from Nikon. Sony doesn't manufacturer semiconductor lithography equipment, so this whole chicken or the egg point of yours is "pointless", lol. And Nikon now owns RED, so there's that.

Canon with magic lantern next?
question is why does anyone want to shoot thru sony glass?
My last sunset I posted I'm using a Sony 70-350 with Megadap on my z6ii
Prefer nikon
Only stupid guys will use Megadap to get Sony lenses on Nikon cameras. Stick with Sony bodies that are on par with Nikon. Don't carry another gadget along for nothing.
You’ve done better 😅👍
don't ask this adapter what it does to your camera when it rains
The battery do drain
They fixed that months ago with a firmware update. If you have one of these update your firmware. Myself and numerous others have posted here and elsewhere the battery drain issue has been fixed.
Nikon is over exposed, colors look weird washed out
Nikon has been obsolete for a long time
lol no
@@chromaticvisuelle they’re basically Sony’s beta testing department.
Your brain has been obsolete for a long time.
I switched to Nikon z8 after 18 years with Sony. Does that hurt your feelings?
@@ChadMoiMedia no but it’s funny
Megadap is a piece of shit few years ago, slow and not even in AF as it claims. The new one may be better due to the smaller chip but the motor drives that the AF may not. Don't waste your money for so claimed functionality.
Things have changed my friends, naturally it would improve over the years...
This is the wrong way around. It would be better to use Nikon lenses on a Sony body.
Not sure if it's possible. The Z mount is physically bigger than everyone else's (including Sony's E-mount), so it's easier to adapt. The Z mount also has a shorter flange distance so I don't think they would focus on a Sony camera even if they could adapt.
@@cwills75 That's not the point. The point is that Sony bodies are better than Nikon, which use Sony sensors anyway.
@@cwills75 Nonsense.
The Z6iii is amazing
