15 hours for a valve cover on this motor. Whatever you need to do, the engine usually comes out now a days. We drop them with the front clip on and I disconnect the suspension from the Subframe. Save you about 5 hours of hassle.
So I have to ask. We drop our N63 engines with the subframe as a singular unit without disassembling the front end clip. Why did you choose the more extensive route?
+Club Bmw Amg We have them come in for valve stem leakage. Also piston damage when driven without the turbocharger and direct injector replacement recall procedures. Depending on the level of carbon buildup, the cylinder heads can be replaced, in the case of piston damage due to detonation the entire engine will be replaced.
+Club Bmw Amg This car crashed, and it's have a oil radiator (colling) on the right side, just behind the bumper. So the leaked oil, and you know whats happens.
It's not a waste of time to that tech, it is a waste of added money to that customer. That's why he did it that way. That repair job may have out-valued the total price of the car itself. He knew what he was doing..
I’ve done many n63 U just pull from top 550 650 750. Trans off first. All u need is Rad fan out. X5 drop with trans on a platform with subframe. That way u guys did in the Video is way too much wasted time I take the engine n trans out by myself about 5-6hrs
I have a friend with this motor in his 2011 x5 he has 100,000 miles and no money to do spark plugs and coil packs. looking for a good diy video on the spark plug job for the n63....any suggestions?
My buddy can pull the motor in 47 minutes, no joke. And he probably does this 10-15 times a month. We were talking about it just the other day, we think he’s done probably 300-400 n63 motor pulls. When you figure out the tricks it’s quick.
Don we work at a dealership, so we can’t do that. Too many implications. But I can tell you that we pull the motor through the top, even all wheel drive. And when you pull the trans you don’t even have to take the exhaust off.

I really not that impressed. With my jack stands and user repair manual, I can do that job in as little as six months.
After all those hard work,
Customer: hey why did you removed engine? I just came for oil change 😂🤠😂
I've got one coming in my shop today.. it's a 2012 750li.. what did you guys charge for labor?
MrStevenmickles we are in Brazil, the values here are very different.

+Jay Bomb That's the way the bmw manual says. This engine has to be taken by lifting the car.
That's interesting, in our dealer ISTA/D requires a much different procedure.
Not trying to be a dick or anything I was just curious, thanks man
+V10 Brasil thank you for the video but why would someone want to remove the engine they are pretty reliable what can happen ?

nice video
lot's of less time with out removing front end and brake system..
Leaves me not feeling so bad about my M62. I had the guides and a bunch of other stuff done preventatively, so I should be good for a while...
Great example video of how not to pull an N63... Can be done much much easier and faster..
Never ever buy a BMW with a N63 engine before 2014 and definitely stay away from 2011 5,6 and 7 series BMW"s
Wish i woulda known that
@@MrPape39 what happened and which series?
waste of time just drop everything with sub frame

Jay Bomb how much the price of the n63 engine with or without twin turbo and location of the garage.

The usual..trans off first then pull engine from top.
Also looking for a mechanic.
Saludos no hay necesidad de desmontar el frente del motor 👍
After watching this video, I went and purchased more stock in Tesla.
Hell even Ford
Try changing the battery in a Model S and get back to us.
Looking for a mechanic for my 2011 550i. In Mass, can drive to other locations.

@@jiminy293 I know this is old but search "s63tu spark plug change". There are two videos that will give you good insite.
6 hours to remove this engine... when it can be done in 2 or less... i damn near died laughing at the process taken pre-engine removal xD
we are removing engine without remove front
How??
@@KKlone1000 sawzall.
Very impressive. If that job was done in Australia that would cost 100k haha
If the car was low on fuel then that front assembly was literally more weight than of the rest of the car.
The front doesn't have to come off
Pretty sure you don’t have to remove the front end, customers wallet probably took a hit there
Muy bueno, pero cada quien tiene su manera de desmontar el motor
needless work!
I lift the engine to the top......much easier and faster without axial !
I am from BMW and i do this 10 times a month minimum !!!
121bham
Dream further
