  • Hey guys! In this short video we show you one of the many ways we use the float function on the loader. It really is a great time saver and very efficient way to work.
    Thanks for watching!

    Just an experienced thought: be careful, even with what you may think is a "passive" position of the loader arms being in FLOAT position, with the bucket curl cylinders fully extended like that - if you encounter a rock, stump, or even just some really hard mounds of dirt/clay, those curl cylinders are at risk as you reverse and pull dirt away from some area. Many cases of bent cylinders have occurred when that obstacle sneaks up. Back dragging with the bucket bottom less vertical reduces the cylinder stresses, and you still move a fair amount of material with each backdrag. Just an FYI...it's a costly oops if you bend a cylinder. Thanks for the info and helping people! 😊

      Thanks for the heads up Graham. I was actually watching it earlier and thought it would be a good idea to tilt that bucket just a little. I appreciate your input! Its all a learning process and its no secret we are rookies. :)

      Probably fine if it's just picking up ots own weight. I only allow the curl cylinders to extend out maybe 5 inches on my tractor. Use the weight of the tractor to spread the dirt

      If you care to go to facebook and join our "Kubota B2650 Enthusiasts" group. Anyone can join we just named it that when we bought our tractor. There are lots of good people there to help solve problems plus lots of good posts giving you the heads up on possible issues. People generally answer any questions you may have as well.

    We have a 1965 IH 424 with a 6l bucket on it. Originally it only had gravity down, but a few years ago I had it modified to hydraulic up and down with float. I have never fully understood the float function, thanks for the video. I have a slightly better understanding of the float function now. It will just take practice.

      Great. It helps once you get the hang of it. I think we have a video showing scoping up dirt with the float function as well. It should be in our "tractor videos" folder.

    So Float Engage, Lets the Boom Raise Float across the ground with only bucket +Arm weight.. What I Realized is With Floating Engaged, you can Still Control the Bucket Curl to control any digging. Correct?

    Love the vids. Just found yall and I've been binge watching them lol. Looking to get the same tractor and yall are proving I am making the right decision. Quick question for you though.. Did you get the tires loaded or does the box blade provide enough ballast for the front end loader?

    • @ForestToFarm
      @ForestToFarm  4 года назад +1

      We love the tractor and it does all we need most of the time. All we have is the box blade and no loaded tires. Most of the time its been doing great however to be honest we moved some dirt in a muddy area near our creek where some beaver are reestablishing a dam. We wanted the beaver pond to be a little deeper. When the bucket was full of very moist dirt and we were down hill with the bucket in the hole it would spin the rear tires some of the time. We were able to get out but I suspect if those rear tires were loaded we would not have had as much trouble. Either way we want it light when on lawns so no loaded tires for us. I have considered buying or making some wheel weights.
      Thanks so much for watching!! Stick around its fixing to get busy around the farm/homestead. We should be posting for many years to come.

    Can you tell me how to turn the float function on? I don't feel like my 2013 kubota has it. If I push up on the lever like you did it's just gonna pick the tractor up. I do have a grapple attachment so the lever is a little different. I wish I could attach pictures

    • @ForestToFarm
      @ForestToFarm  2 года назад +1

      I wish I could help you but I am just not sure. You do have to give the lever a good solid push to engage it.

    Do you ever get the teeth stuck on a rock? I find I can’t back drag with my bucket that far down because I’m always snagging something, even in float.

    • @ForestToFarm
      @ForestToFarm  4 года назад +1

      So far no but there is always that first time! Check Graham Sheas comment. He addresses this issue. Tilt that bucket to a more level angle. It may take and extra pass or two but probably worth the effort over damaging your loader arms or cylinders. Its all a learning process.

    When I press forward my bucket pushes up my cab

    • @ForestToFarm

      Assuming you actually have a float function, are you sure you are pushing it all the way forward? Beyond a discernible stop? On ours you feel that “wall”.
