This was a room full of legends coming together for the children in Africa. Quincy Jones told them to leave their egos at the door and they did most came from the award ceremony and others flew in and recorded this all in one night for charity to help Africa. This will probably be the only time this many legends hit one stage together and make such a great song. We were Blessed to have this many great singers and legends back then. Loved your reaction.

Beautiful story for you! I work as a counselor an addiction in the 1980s and 90s and when this song came out and we would go to the dances at the AA clubs they had for everyone to enjoy on the weekends but good music and dancing but not in a bar. We would get up to a hundred or so people and it would be some good times. When this song would come on everybody in the room with their arms around one another and sing this song together as one! It made me cry every time because they were saving their lives as well. The gratitude in the AA and NA rooms was amazing! Beautiful Beautiful song that represents overcoming almost impossible odds, together as one😂❤

All equipment and studio time was donated, and all the artists did it completely free. They started coming in around 8PM with some coming straight from the American Music Awards and worked on this all night until about 8 or 9 the next morning. There was no autotune used with this, one because none of this talent needed autotune and two autotune didn't exist until 1998 when Cher used it in her single Believe.

Ray Charles, Lionel Ritchie, Stevie Wonder, Dionne Warwick, Dianna Ross, Bruce Springsteen, Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, Cindy Lauper, One of the guys from Journey, I can't think of his name. So many more from the 80's genre!! They came together with MJ because of the AIDS epidemic that was rampant in Africa at the time. I believe that was the cause at the time. I love it when young people discover this song, it does irritate me that you isolated the talent of Michael Jackson, like he was the only important person here, I'll get over it, Sure he was talented but there were so many other talented people in that room, in fact all of them! Surely by now you must have learned who some of these great people are? I love watching you react to things, and I know this seems a little knitpicky but you aren't the only person that singles him out. I mean he's in the same room as Tina Turner, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, I noticed at the end, finally you mentioned him but were scared you were misnaming him! Bob Dylan's in there, Cyndi Lauper, Dionne Warwick and the list is long. Ok....when these kids were reacting to queen and love ng it enough to research and listwn to more of their music I was genuinely happy. I yad faith that these hip hop abd rapper kids actually cared about music and what otger geberations had/have to give.
But, these reactions to "We are the World" reactions has totally bliwn that bubble.
I can not belueve these kids that say they know so kuch about music dont know the icon ns that paved the way.
You don't know Lional Richie, STEVIE WONDER, Billy Joel, TINA TURNER? Come on kids....learn more about who got you to hip hop and rap that you love so much.
