Great list!
17:20 Whitney
@@ClutchGeneno. Whitney was never in this.
'Born in the 2000s' is a legit excuse for the kid to not recognize faces. There's NO excuse for the dad not knowing Diana Ross! 🤣
Hardly anyone recognizes Diana Ross, sadly. And she has changed the least of many in this video.
Or Quincy Jones :)
or Darryl Hall
I'm 43 and recognized... all of them, so am I broken? o.O
@@BreakerIncnah, you’re a legend, I’m 19 and knew all but 3
That was Diana Ross singing with Michael Jackson! This was recorded after the Grammy Awards for that year. This went on until the early hours of the following morning. Director, Quincy Jones, posted a sign at the door to the studio, everyone had to check their egos at the door. The song was written by Lionel Ritchie and Michael Jackson. It was for the support of Ethiopia.
Yea. Diana Ross. Ooops 😂
LOL yeah you beat me too it. Now Latoya is in the group so his sister (and his brothers) do show up lol.
This was in January, so it was after the American Music Awards, which present and air live in January.
Grammy Awards present and air live in February.
I’m a awards show buff. 😊
Prince couldn't check his ego at the door I hear so....😐
American Music Awards
The woman singing with MJ is NOT his sister, that's Diana Ross.
You don’t know Bruce and you’ve never seen him live. Bruce was the biggest artist in the world in 1985. He has always been involved in charity work in a large way. He absolutely belonged in that position. Watching Bruce and the incredible E Street Band play is joyous. Watch the Born To Run video compilation that Brice made for his fans is amazing. If you watch that and still hate Bruce then you gave him a fair shot. If you want to hear the number one rock Sax solo played by the best rock sax player of all time - Clarence Clemmons then watch the video of Jungleland. My personal favorite Bruce song. I always mildly liked Bruce and then I saw him live and I was hooked. The most fun amazing 4 hours on your feet dancing and Bruce knows how to work a packed Stadium.
I'm not an avid fan of Bruce Springsteen but I do like some of his songs like "Born in the USA". I remember that 1985 was Bruce's year from record sales to popularity even more popular than Prince that year who decided not to participate maybe because he was feuding with Michael Jackson at the time. Bruce was probably one of the few people there who chose which lines he wanted to sing and where he wanted to stand.
Diana Ross is not a Jackson sister ( he had three.. Rebbie, Latoya, Janet and I think there was a half sister too), but she was in a big time girl group called "The Supremes" back in the day. And became a very big artist with her own separate body of work/songs too. She was also a very close friend of Michael Jackson's and the Godmother to his kids.
This ensemble of hitmakers came together after a music award show that was hell earlier, that's why so many artists were able to attend.
That's interesting... Most people who react and comment on reactions love the duet between Bruce Springsteen and Stevie. Wonder. It's literally their favorite part. It's a contrast between their voices that you wouldn't think works but actually does really well.
That is a call and response we would have never known we needed!
Bruce and Stevie are like salted caramel
Love Bruce and Stevie together
This was more than just a song. This song showed all of us what America is capable of when we are united. It brought together the greatest recording artist of the time and blended every style of music in our country in an unbelievable meshing of genres.
The Duet Between Bruce and Stevie Was added in after they were Finished Recording Quincy Jones called up Bruce and Stevie they were the closest to the studio and asked them to come back and record it that's why when you watch the video Stevie has on two different shirts.
This song was recorded on the night of The American Music Awards. They all went into the recording studio right after the awards.
THE B🤩SS R🥰CKS! Unique voice and vocals. LEGEND. Bruce Springsteen was h🤩t back then and still slays. So no surprise he would be chosen as a duet with the great STEVIE WONDER.
Thanks for the Reaction. 👍
Change that R to an S 😅
@6:35- That's Daryl Hall from Hall and Oates (John Oates appears in the chorus) lol. So many hits in the 80s, love them lol.
The Springsteen/Stevie duo made history in a way people never expected. Dislike "THE BOSS"? Really? With a straight face? Seen him live 3x and had a religious experience every time.
@ Robbie Hoskins. I've never been able to see Bruce live -- but hear his concerts are fantastic! And LONG -- he really gives his fans everything he's got.
I saw Bruce and the E Street Band for the first time in 1978. I was 17. It was that famous show at the Roxy in West Hollywood. I have seen him so many times now. But that how in 1978 was the best.
they all performed for free and were told by Quincy Jones (conductor) to leave their egos at the door.
7:26 She is another Legend! Cindy Lauper
I love Bruce. The reason he has a main part, was becaues Quincy Jones added to the song after it was recorded.. Apparently Stevie and Bruce were the closest to the studio... If you notice,, Stevie is wearing a different coloured shirt in the video..However, Bruce rocked it IMO as usual....lol
Same for me.
Plus, Bruce was the number 1 or 2 music artist at that moment. And Stevie was….Stevie.
Yeah! Cyndi Lauper!! Legend 😍✌👏
Study a little American music history!
Even Japanese people like me know the performers!

Whatever your name is, you're the man. These are the people I grew up to plus musicians from the 90's and 2000's.
I can understand that you don't appreciate Bruce Springsteen.
I also agree that Stevie is one of the most brilliant singers...ever.
I suggest that you listen to their duet again. With your eyes closed, and your ears open.
The contrasting harmony of fire and ice is brilliant 🎶🔥🎵🏔️🎶
I agree
I love Bruce after Ilistening this song
I don't particularly like Bruce, but I think the duet with Stevie is great. The difference in their tone makes it great. I actually think it's the best part of the song. 😉
Yup, a Bruce/Stevie tour would be awesome.
Nah!!
Haha hate to tell you, but NOONE else agrees with you at all, EVERYONE loves him in it and the duet he does with Stevie. And pretty much everyone also loves Cindi doing the part she does in the song lol.
I agree
My favorite part of the song.
That's Diana Ross from The Supremes singing with Michael Jackson. Not one of his siblings
They decided to re record a section of the song. So they asked who could or would stay and do it. There were only a few left. Stevie and Bruce being two of them. They stayed longer and re recorded that section. So that’s how that section came to be. There is an entire documentary on how the song was made,it’s great.
I just cannot cope with that possessed Cindy on the left side of the background.😂
I'm gutted, this young boy doesn't know any of these world famous singers/musicians in the music industry.I was fortunate to have been born in the early 50s so I lived through great times and great music.
Do you know artist from the 30’s. He was born in 2002. Why would he know.
And the fact you don't know whos Diana Ross is beyond me? The woman who sang with Michael was not a Jackson, it's the great Diana Ross! I am 28 years old and I know who that is. Tina Turner is the lady who sang with Billy Joel! How the fuck you don't love Bruce Springsteen? You are crazy!@@THENOBODIESREACTS
Grew up on Metal sorry 🤷♂️
Nice reaction. Great that your showing your son great songs.
Jamie Foxx plays Ray Charles. There is newer version of "We Are The World" for Haiti. I think it was done in 2010 and in that updated version Jamie Foxx actually sings like Ray Charles in that version.
As I see someone else already pointed out, the woman singing after Michael Jackson was Diana Ross (formerly of the Supremes); not a sister, but good friends (it is believed Michael's song "Dirty Diana" was named after her) and the story is that Diana "discovered" the Jackson 5ive, but that might just be a Motown promotional myth. Diana co-starred with Michael in the movie version of "The Wiz" (Diana was Dorothy and Michael was the Scarecrow). Janet Jackson was not able to be there that day, but sister LaToya and several of the brothers were there, standing in the front row, on the far right next to Bette Midler. If I'm not mistaken, I think there are only 3 Jackson sisters; the oldest is Rebbie (who had a minor solo hit in the 80s called "Centipede") but I don't believe she was there that day.
They assembled after the American Music Awards show, rather than going to after parties. Harry Belafonte was the brainchild of the idea. A missed opportunity was them saying no thanks to John Denver. Jamie Fox played lead in Ray movie.
They recorded this iconic tune after a music award show, thus many artist for this performance. Quincy Jones told them to leave their ego at the door. lol
The best part about this reaction video is that i’m watching a father & son have fun quality time together. Cherish every moment
Thanks for this info and kind words
Cyndi Lauper was a manager in WW 1...she never wrestled
@8:48- That is Bob Dylan.
@10:07- You're talking about the movie Ray, which stars Jamie Foxx as Ray Charles.
I saw Bette Middler in the chorus and I do wish she had gotten an individual line for her voice is awesome too, but I am glad she's there.
I love this song every time I hear it just puts a smile on my face and you know what literally it is amazing All of them coming together for this specific calls or whatever you wanna call it just absolutely beautiful
Steve Perry and Willie Nelson...Amazing voices....
They had a moment where every radio station in the world played the song at the same time.
I was 12 when the world was blessed with this masterpiece. At its time of release, to this day, I can name every single featured artist by their voice. I came by about 18% of that knowledge of my own accord, based on my listening chioces. The other 82% I learned from my parents and what I grew up listening to since literal birth. If the boy is lacking in knowledge, it isn't really his fault, Dad. 🤷♀️😜
I love how you are listening to this with your son, and explaining what the song was about.
They came from an award show - most of them - - and worked through the night - there is a video with Jane Fonda as host that shows the process -and they are pretty tired - and not competitive . Amazing..
This made my night! Look forward to checking out some more of your reactions! :D
Jackson? She is Diana Ross brother!
This song was recorded on the night of The American Music Awards. They recorded the song after the Awards Show . That's why they were all in town at the same time.
The true star is mr ray charles! Rest In Peace Ray.
Diana Ross is 80 years old and is still selling out concerts worldwide. She may be the only performing still doing that from the sixties.
It shouldn't be any haters because you were speaking what you felt.Freedom of speech!
In Order Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Kenny Rogers, James Ingram, Tina Turner, Billy Joel, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, Willie Nelson, Al Jarreau, Bruce Springstein, Kenny Loggins, Steve Perry, Daryl Hall, Huey Lewis, Cyndi Lauper, Kim Carnes, Bob Dylan, Ray Charles,
The world needed of Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Wonder duet.
I just want to add a note of who was conducting this group, it is Quincy Jones.
Cyndi appeared at Wrestlemania 3. She didn’t wrestle. 😂 she was with a wrestler named Wendi Richter.,
LMAO, I totally think Knight Rider everytime Hall pops up. He looks eerily like Hasselhoff at least during that time period.
They all came from an award show that night and decided to just record bc they were all together already..
My son is 16 and he could identify every one if them artist and those from 90's r n b and 50's lol Ive raised him right hahahahaha
You guys are great together father & son having a blast.Setting a great example for families to follow.
THE LADY SINGING WITH MICHAEL JACKSON IS not A JACKSON. THAT IS DIANA ROSS OF THE SUPREMES. SHE IS OLD ENOUGH TO BE HIS MOTHER. HER GROUP WAS BIG IN THE 60's.
Wow! Youngers do not know who Ray Charles is? OMG! I'm so glad that I was born in the 70's.... I had the privilege to see all those Legends and all the others not present in this song like Jim Morrison, Freddy Mercury, Bob Marley etc...
That's Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Bruce Springsteen, Halls & Oats, Ray Charles.😊
In case you’re wondering why Bruce Springsteen got that cameo, this was 1985 and the Boss was king. He actually finished his born in the USA tour in New York the night before and flew in for this. People my age a.k.a. 20s and 30s at the time loved him and this album was to make money for charity. I think it brought in 75 or 80 million in the first year. Although so many of these stars are people that I absolutely love and adore and are LEGENDS, he is one of the four top grossing stars in this group in 1985. All that aside, I personally think it was brilliance to put those two voices together because of the emotion and the contrast. He actually taped that the same night as everything else was taped. I think Stevie might have been brought back in, but there is video of Bruce doing all of that segment with other people from the choir still in the room.
I like Bruce, but Steve Perry is my favorite love him, but have to agree a lot of legends singing here..
Nope that was Diana Ross. She helped michaels career and the Jackson’s forever
You wondered how many were still alive. Most are.
These are the ones that aren't with us anymore.
We Are the World was released on 12/31/85.

Wow!!! Thanks so much for taking your time to do this 🥰
Huey Lewis and Tina Turner aren't here anymore either.
@@phyl1042 Huey Lewis is still alive. He's 73, but he can no longer play due to a nerve thing in his ears that hit him right in the middle of a show.
Here's a link to it:

You need to next react to Do They Know It's Christmas by Band Aid. They are all English singers who got together first to raise money for the famine in Africa. Actually. their song came out first. The We Are The World was done after as an American response. Bob Geldof started that one. It too had a lot of famous British singers.
Geldof was there in the room
Or better yet, the Canadian song, Tears Are Not Enough.
@@visaman Tears are not enough is great.. sadly most americans do not know about it.. its not on their radar.
She is not a jackson but that is Diana Ross!
I'm a Malaysian. I'm 17 when USA Africa charity happen. Until now I remember all the singer In this song's. In that time whole world be one to save Africa. Feel proud to be a part of history on that time...😅
That was Diana Ross with Micheal Jackson
he was great (Bruce)
to be fair to the kid, there is no real MTV anymore. No music videos to match the faces of artists to the music...
Here on youtube you can find the documentary from when they recorded this. It shows how they did some of the backing vocals and planing before and some of the additional parts that was added later.
This was inspired by the british artists that did Do they know it’s Christmas the year before. Bob Geldof was the one that started it and also is in this song. This was done before Live Aid that have been one of the largest concert they played at the same time both in England and USA and was shown in many countries live.
Later there has been done other versions of this song by many different artists from all over the world.
I pounded music in my son's head since he was little he knows them all love former music teacher...
Uh, that wasn’t Michael Jackson’s sister, it was Diana Ross; and the guy after Steve Perry was Daryl Hall of Hall and Oates.
… yes it was Bob Dylan, and Jamie Foxx played Ray Charles in the movie Ray.
When father sang bruce springteen born in the usa has me rolling over here. LOL
Thanks 😂
love you guys!!
They made this after the award's show that note. They volunteered.
I didn't know Diana Ross was Michael Jackson's sister? ;)
Yeah. Although you were wrong about who is sister was. Two of his sisters. Latoya and Janet and baby brother Randy was among the choir( big group) of people. But who would’ve thought when you put. Pop, R&B, Metal, and Rock together. You will get this.
Janet wasn’t there. But she did sing along in the remake that raised money for Haiti.
Why all the hate on Springsteen and Stevie? I think they sounded great together. Voices don’t have to be alike to sound good in a duet, sometimes very different voices compliment one another. I love Springsteen’ s voice, but I also like deep and gritty male voices. I also agree with your son, never cared for Lauper or thought she had a good voice. Sounds annoying to me.
I like Springsteen voice, but I can't say I am a fan of all of his songs even if they were chart toppers. Kinda like today's Beyonce. I think she has a decent voice, but I think a lot of her music is crap.
@@rickyconstancio7856 Good point, and I agree on both fronts. I think Beyonce's voice is definitely better than decent, but I do think a fair amount of her stuff is derivative or repetitive.
The dad in the video doesn’t understand why they have Springsteen on solo or even part of the group for that matter, but then with his music knowledge and wisdom, he thought Diana Ross was a Jackson and Cyndi Lauper was amazing…..LOL
Sir, you don’t get to laugh at your child! 😂 cuz you didn’t know who half these people were!! 😂
You are right
I thought that was the fun part of being a parent?? Lol 😂
Then when they tell us the answer we get the answer too! Lol
Not David Hasselhoff (Knight Rider) but Daryl Hall of Hall and Oates
This was a very special night where egos were left at the door. These were the best of the best.
The only 2 people that were not present were Madonna and of course Prince.
The girl you’re referring to is Diana Ross she is not a Jackson she is not his sister
Brandon has it right the one person you thought was Michael Jacksons sister is Diana Ross. There is all Michael Jacksons brothers singing.
Not his sister. That was Diana Ross. Then Dionne Warwick
Singing with Michael is the legend Diana Ross!!
You're right. There was drought which resulted in a famine in the region (Africa)
No , I am not Springsteen either , however I do think The duet they did was really good, just saying❤
Michael and Diana Ross!!!!!🫢
Bob Geldolf's initative. This single came after the UK's Do they know it's Christmas?!
The Jackson’s are in background
But Diana Ross is singing with Micheal
Love ya guys
Diana Ross singing with Michael Jackson dude u serious wow
We are Metal dudes. Sorry 🤷♂️
Just to help you out, it wasn't a Jackson sister, it was Diana Ross. And UT wasn't the guy from night Rider, it was Daryl Hall of Hall and Oats. So tell your son you are not so hot, lol. Great reaction though!!!
The song that I really like and I think you would as well is End Of The Line by The Travelling Willburies. The best of the best are in the band. Sadly Roy Orbison passed away a few months before the video was released. The other band members honor him by having his guitar on a rocking chair and a picture on the shelf behind one of the singers.
Lol i love but laughed that ypu had ypur son stop so much, but really the kidss gotta learn where the best music came from. I dix the same with my grandaughters, however them growing up with watching me dance on the coffee table to most of the 80's music along with giving them rundowns on all the 60's & 70's music and artists. I must say yhey gre up loving the education and My Generation" music. Enjoy

I'm not a fan of Springsteen either but I think he actually did a good job in this. Lol you don't have to like everyone 🥰 nice reaction 🥰
That woman after Jackson is not a sister, it is Diana Ross.
