It is outrageous the authorities did not bother to search for three days. If they had searched sooner, there would surely have been more opportunity to gather evidence. And even if someone is just lost, finding them sooner will help their chances of survival. Australia is looking a lot less inviting as a travel destination.
Tobias clearly did lie to investigators and should have been held to account for that much earlier. But as for who did away with Simone, the evidence is very thin (due to the authorities neglecting her disappearance for days). My feeling is that, sadly, this case will never be resolved unless someone decides to talk. If they go to trial with nothing for evidence except sketchy behavior and a hair (which any attorney could easily explain), I can't imagine a jury convicting.

The aussie authorities are almost completely useless when it comes to missing persons. When my parents listed my older brother as missing, the police told them they had to wait at least 48hrs before they would start to search for him. A few days later, his body was found in his car, parked next to a rest stop. In the 48hrs the cops had told my parents to wait, he'd committed suicide. To this day, I believe there's a strong chance that he would still be alive if the cops had started searching for him straight away.

A blonde hair on her body, when they WERE in a relationship, is hardly conclusive. Him refusing to respond to police for the 10th time, when they think he did it, is hardly convincing. Was he not allowed to leave Australia or move on after she died or refuse to help the cops build a case against him?

This is a difficult case because he was probably aware that if he said yes, they did have an argument that people would have accused him of murdering his girlfriend (so it could be a reason why he lied). Also, they were living in close proximity so it is possible that she had a hair on her from him anyway. The thing I find most suspicious is that he left so soon after she went missing. If someone I loved went missing I would be distraught and first do everything I could to find them, I would only go home when I really had to.

I feel the need to share my own experience because it may help you understand how difficult it is to judge such things. I experienced something traumatic and, when asked to come in to "talk about it," was shocked to find that they did not believe I was a victim, but was actually the suspect, and I was taken to a small room and interrogated. I was shocked, angry, desperate, and any other emotion you can imagine. Believe me, my response was aggressive. They told me that I would be sent away for a very long time, I would never work in my field again (I taught at a university and would never be able to work in that field, and many others, as a felon- imagine trying to find any job after prison), my minor child would be taken away from me and I would not see them for a very long time, my name would be all over the front page for a long time (I lived in a small city where such things are front-page news), especially during the trial, and on and on. Everything I'd ever worked for - my family, my house, my reputation, my career, my sanity - would be gone. My life would be ruined. For almost a year, I fought back and got a lawyer, but felt like I was shouting into the void. The police would not believe me. They used faulty science that they felt pointed to me, and would not listen to reason, nor would they consider that I'd never been in trouble in any way, so there was no pattern, so to speak. I went into a tailspin, feeling broken, unheard and alone, crying myself to sleep every night, and was suicidal. I was going to kill myself. In the end, their contact with me became less frequent until I stopped hearing from them. But, I was told that the statute of limitations was 17 years, so, even though I try not to think about it, I still haven't been able to breathe a sigh of relief. There are still 8 years left. Before all of this happened to me, I had many beliefs that I no longer carry: the police can spot lying (they can't), they use good up-to-date science and, when a suspect commits suicide, it's because they were guilty and couldn't face the punishment. I wish I'd never gone through what I went through, as it has completely changed me and has also tainted my view of police. Sorry for this long comment. I do hope it contains some value for you and/or others. As for whether or not Tobias is guilty, I honestly don't know, but answering aggressively could indicate guilt or innocence. I reacted the same way when I was asked if it did it (I wasn't accused of murder, but it was a very serious accusation that could potentially carry a term of 10-20 years or more). Thank you for reading this far, if you did!

They appear to have targets to meet and any candidate can be panel-beaten to fill their quotas.
BUT, I must also add... Once when I needed the police, they went out their way to assist me and for that I am grateful. If only they were all like that.

Also, in regards to Lismore’s floods - the town was hit by a record breaking 14m flood in Feb 2022, then another almost as big exactly 1 month later. The town still looks like a war zone, with many traumatised people still living in tents & caravans in their yards - so many houses are completely unliveable. Could you cover the case of 18 year old Lily Sullivan from Pembroke, Wales? It's a solved case (monster was caught), and there's lots of CCTV footage. It's fairly recent, I believe the sentencing/case was wrapped up in August of this year, but I haven't seen it covered anywhere and I think you would do both the case and Lily justice by covering it. Lots of love from Canada!

I’m wondering if lack of defense be injuries could be because of drugs and alcohol . Was there ever any questions if drugs were involved? Conceivably they would have been out of her system after 6 days.
