Won me over when he entered the Rumble at #1 and survived all the way to the end. That along with his weight loss and dedication to learn English. Love a guy who dedicates and works hard on their craft.
He and Cody were my picks to win and they were the final 2. I got him winning it this year or MITB. Cody beats Roman and the Gunther spoils the dream

Gunther is just another in a long line of opening match caliber guys dragging the title that Scott Hall and HTM built down.
I’ve seen him and Ludwig wrestle in Hamburg in front of 500 people and seeing how far he’s come is just absolutely incredible!

As Walter, he is the most down to earth dude. As Gunther, he's brutal and primal. WWE got a real one with this guy.

This made his promo battle with MIZ on RAW even better. They should air some off this on tv.
Gunther is the complete package. Amazing in ring, he honed his promo skills, elevates his opponent and just an epic overall presence.
When im watching a match with Gunther i feel like I'll miss something if i blink! He's definitely one of the best wrestlers right now. He needs to be world champion in 2024

Edit: also the guy went from being eliminated first at a survivor series and then to a questionable name change, alot of people would of taken that personally but he's owned it and excelled

Gunther is a one of a kind wrestler. People always talk about "there will never another blank", I genuinely think Gunther belongs in that category not just for his wrestling style, but also the way hos style is married to his character work and demeanor. It's just perfect!

I am just so amazed at this dude’s growth. I remember seeing him in Defy and thinking how much potential he had. He got into incredible shape and has surpassed expectations. His current gimmick is a classic throwback to earlier eras of wrestling. Keep it up Walter!
Great interview, Chris! Gunther is a fascinating individual! For my money, he is the greatest International Heavyweight Champion! You can tell he is grounded and hasn't let success change him. The WWE is very lucky to have him.

I was lucky enough to be at one of the house shows he mentioned where he fought Sami Zayn. Glad we the audience didn't disappoint him because he sure didn't disappoint any of us. What an insane match! I was wearing my GUNTHER shirt of course so if he heard this little middle aged lady yelling at him with a pronounced Appalachian accent - that was me! GUNTHER is simply the best wrestler in the industry and I hope he's around for many, many years for all of us to enjoy. The IRL Walter is a real sweetheart of a person too and I wish him nothing but happiness in his life.

Got to watch Gunther (known then as Walter) live back when he was in NXT UK a few years ago always thought he looked like a beast back then, never thought he’d go on to become as big as he is right now. Proud of him.

It’s very refreshing to see a man who’s involved in such a competitive, ego driven endeavor, be so humble as he is…he embodies what is the lost art of professional wrestling today..believability and in ring psychology..you can tell he doesn’t like exposing the business, and although just by doing this interview alone, is kinda breaking “kayfabe” (if eye dare still use such a phrase) he still would rather uphold that said “kayfabe”..he is an old school wrestler through and through.. it’s great to see someone like this succeeding and receiving recognition for his work in todays wrestling landscape that is filled with a bunch of phony flippy kids who just wanna do spots for the cheap pop.. bravo GUNTHER bravo 👏🏽

He made the intercontinental title mean something he made it the Intercontinental heavyweight title, he is more champion than Roman will ever be, the guy legit defends his championships, he has a horde but that horde doesn't interfare in matches, it makes him credible. You got wrestling fans who pick sides... and act crazy toward each other over their companies... And you've got wrestling fans who just love good wrestling. Thats me. Specifically certain people. Christian Cage (Especially anytime he has a live mic), MJF, Will Ospreay, Chad Gable anytime he has a singles match, and GUNTHER being just a few This guy is ALWAYS great to watch. Makes every match feel like a fight. Anytime I see this guy in the ring... I will sit and watch.
same here. english in school was horribly bad. I learned it mostly through watching Wrestling over the last decades. + Internet of course.
If vince was still in charge, Gunther would have definitely been lumped with a dancing giant gimmick. So glad HHH sees his potential and he's held the IC title for so long.

as far as his overall aura, he has the legitimacy of Brock and Bret Hart .... a no-nonsense superstar .... brilliant in the ring, combining technical and brutally physical elements (and getting 'this is awesome' chants in almost every match) ...... insane charisma .... he perfected his mic skills and promo work .... lost 65 pounds and looks awesome .... dude obviously worked his ass off in every category .... time to make him heavyweight champ

Not because Chris is killing it once again, but Gunther deserves a lot of respect. He was a bit shlubby a few years ago, but he worked hard and got into way better shape. He learned English to the point where he's very fluent. He's obviously worked on his craft. He's gone opposite of Will Osprey and moved to America to attain his goals. And he's been a great, dignified champ who hasn't made anyone pine for a new champ, as he's held the IC a long time. However, it's time to take those belts off of both Seth AND Roman, and one of them need to go to GUUNNNTTTTHHHHEERR!!
