many years ago at San Diego's Comic Con, when I was about 14 years old (I'm almost 35 now) I ran into RVD in one of the main halls. I was awestruck but had enough courage to go up to him and ask to shake his hand. HE WAS SO NICE. It was just a small interaction but I have never forgotten how cool, chill and kind was RVD with that gesture. Many years later my brother told me how he also saw Rob at a convention and was invited by the man himself to get near him and have a small conversation. For some reason that means even more. A truly nice, down to earth human being who I fondly salute every time i light it up. Cue the RVD chants all the way up from Mexico City!
I admire Rob's integrity, being able to admit that after going through his own situation that he wasn't comfortable doing a Michaels impression. Granted Shawns checkered past, we all grow at our own pace every day. The guys they are now aren't going to go out and bury others just because of their own emotional inadequacies at that particular point in time. It's a perfect life lesson, which can carry over into the business for anyone coming up trying to get a foot in the door. Be somebody you're proud of in the here and now, even if you've already had prideful moments. Great interview Chris. 🤙
