Chris is usually pretty sharp, but he totally misunderstands the ratings. It doesn't matter that fewer people watch, it only matters that more dollars are spent by advertisers on that medium. And that's because internet advertising isn't as monetized. There are no such thing as ad-blockers on TV. TV doesn't require you to click a link. Until the advertisers decide to change where they put their money and how they push their ads, TV will be king, and ratings will be the only thing that matters.
I don't think it is coincidence that I watched this today, hearing you, Chris, talk about your gratitude in watching the sunset because last night I had a similar experience with a thunderstorm, followed by a sunny sky & rainbow. I was driving around, hearing the music from my phone cut out because it was losing reception. I took that as a sign to observe what was going on around me, which was absolutely incredible once I started paying attention to it. I became grateful for that weather, & I started thinking of other things I was grateful for, including people in my life. The happiness I felt was more than I have experienced in quite some time, & I can't help but wonder if that's what meth feels like 😹. I appreciate what you do so much.
I enjoy Eric’s commentary on wrestling and his podcast, etc. but I can’t imagine ever asking him to stand in for my father to walk me down the aisle. Of course, I’m a guy, and I don’t know my father, but even if I did and I was a woman, he’d be pretty far down the list. He’d have to be my favorite wrestling personality of all time for that thought to even cross my mind lol. But it is a cool story.
Another interview where you can hear how crazy it was in WWF/E during Vince's administration. Mindboggling to me that WWE became that glbal player with that chaos. Other companies that have that amound of chaos going on, with last minute changes and all those backstage politics doesn't make it very long.
It's weird everytime he talks about something related to wrestling, it's a different story each time. So it's no wonder why he forgot a lot of what happened then lol.
Im not naive enough to think everything he says is true, but I think people also need to be realistic about how someone remembers stories from around 30 years ago.
Bischoff gets a lot of crap while he was the guy that made WcW even a real money maker and almost beat WWF. Before that time WcW workes somehow but wasn't a big name barely knew abroad.During the Monday Night Wars, if not short before, everyone who could watch wrestling on TV, regardless if we talk about North America or other areas of this planet, also knew about WcW!
I understand the thinking behind the top star being either positively or poorly represented based on the ratings, however in AEWs case there is so much crap in that company that if we're being honest it'd be hard to honestly label one person as the problem. Regardless of your feelings on Punk.
Eric Bischoff has great insight and doesn’t care what people think but most of his interviews are with Conrad and Conrad is rude and annoying so i avoid them. Glad you’re doing more interviews with him

I always liked Eric. But man that story about him walking that woman down the isle just made me love the guy. Hes such a kind person! He is such a legendary person
This dude have forgot more the he has experienced. This is FAR from a compliment, but he's trying to be another Cornette, cashing in on wrestling right now.
So like Cornette he is taking advantage of an Avenue that allows him to make an income and support his family? What an insane thing to do. The dude is 67 years old. He still has a life to support. This avenue affords him the chance to probably make a six figure income from his home. Who in the right mind can fault that? It’s not like it’s any different than basically every veteran with s bigger name has been doing since like 2014. Stone Cold of all people was one of the very first in wrestling to start doing it.
Even if you dislike him I’m not sure how you wouldn’t see why he attracts at least the wrestling performers he does. If you’re being objective his podcast has done a lot of positive for veterans of the wrestling business. Bruce had been out of wrestling and thought it was done. Their podcast does huge numbers, providing him an income, and leads to his return. Tony Schiavone had just lost a job, was working for Starbucks to have benefits, and needed to pay for his kids wedding. Doing the show with Conrad let him pay for that wedding and also led to his return to wrestling that he thought would never happen. Eric had a tough spot where his business went under and needed an income. Conrad helps him make a living. He even gets a return to wrestling. Look at all these other wrestlers that started making a living through the pod: Arn, Road Dogg, DDP, Jake the Snake, Jarrett, Nash, JR, etc. Conrad and his podcast network has allowed tons of wrestlers, many who had just lost jobs, make a living in another way. Hate him all you’d like but he’s done a lot of positive things for these guys.

Wow Eric your an amazing person!! I tiered up during that story!! You should be proud of those moments!! Wrestling has saved my life and has given me life long friends!! Keep on keeping on brother what you and all these men and women do matters on every level!!! Thanks for the interview and especially that story !!!!
Flair? Really? You like listening to a pathetic old man talk like a teenager? You like when he constantly talks like partying is SOOOO COOL? He has been a terrible father, a terrible husband, a terrible friend (everyone ends up disassociating with him), and when you hear what he did on that plane ride you have to be a lowlife like he is for that not to change your mind about him.
I did the Nielsen ratings book... They sent $25 Cash!!! I always just checked off WWE and Jeopardy no matter what. I'm sure a lot of people just "vote" like that. (Keep on crushing it Chris!)
I recently got a letter in the mail from Neilsen offering like 5 bucks or something like that to become a Nielsen household. I only use streaming services so I have no clue how that would even work. I've often thought that AEW is watched online more than on cable.
Comparisons of wrestling to acting like the one Chris made in this interview are causing significant damage to professional wrestling. Though wrestling and acting do share some similarities, they are not the same thing, and should not be treated the same way. When Anthony Hopkins portrayed Hannibal Lecter, he did it for about five hours across a ten year period. When a person portrays a professional wrestling character, they do it in a movie that lasts for years or even decades. Would you enjoy Silence of the Lambs as much if Anthony Hopkins broke character in the middle of the movie and had a beer with Jodie Foster? In professional wrestling, a particular storyline is like a movie. That storyline may last for weeks, months, or even years. For that storyline to work and make people truly care about what is happening, the audience must be able to suspend disbelief for the entirety of that storyline, It is impossible to care about what is going on when the action is playing out in front of you with people who make no effort to make you forget that what you are seeing is not real.

Yes it was hard to listen to. Volume should be normalised; I'd rather turn up and listen normally than struggle with one being too loud and one being too quiet.
You never asked him about how he stole the WCW job from Greg Ganga and his dad Vern. Lol Eric is a thief. No jokes.
i remember when Garett Bischoff made his TNA debut and other than the last name i didn't know his dad WAS Eric Bischoff
I always liked Eric. But man that story about him walking that woman down the isle just made me love the guy. Hes such a kind person! He is such a legendary person
🎶Have a kna-ack, for making thangs bettah 🎶
The audio is super low on this episode. The RAID add had good sound but then the actual interview wasn't even listenable for me
Any podcast with easy E , is a good podcast
Facts
Bischoff is still stuck in the Nielsen days when it's social media numbers, streaming, merch, etc that drives the business.
watched the whole thing. great interview!
I don't know if i've ever watched an interviewer with more well thought out questions. And it's infuriating that he's not even using notes.
dope as usual. hope you have the greatest 2023 ever
You too, Mike!
I would probably trade my soul to relive wrestling from 1996-Present for the first time again.
That's where I disagree with Eric is ratings.majority are watching content, online, not,tv.
I don't understand how Conrad attracts anyone if I am being completely honest.
I've never gotten the hate for Conrad. I don't find him obnoxious or annoying and he pretty much asks the questions I would ask myself on his shows.
Bischoff has one of my favorite entrance themes...He was one of many tongues down Stephanie's throat 😂
Hell yeah
The singing in the begining lmao
Like hearing Vince trying to sing Bischoff theme song 😂
😂😅
This guy was my childhood. Simpler times on Raw
When i was a kid. I couldnt stand him. Now that im older i realize that means he did a fantastic job lol.
Chris Looks like a Henry Cavil before he found the dumbell section....he would make a great SuperBoy....
Give me a few more months...
@@ChrisVanVliet you seem like just a good genuine individual. You will find success in anything you endeavor. Look forward to what you achieve in 2023.
I hated Eric Bischoff when he was the general manager for raw because I was a Smackdown fan
I can't believe CVV Compared Bischoff to Russo that was Cold af
Love this! Keep them coming.
Thanks Ernie! Many more to come!
Wow Eric your an amazing person!! I tiered up during that story!! You should be proud of those moments!! Wrestling has saved my life and has given me life long friends!! Keep on keeping on brother what you and all these men and women do matters on every level!!! Thanks for the interview and especially that story !!!!
I love Eric! I could listen to him, JR, Ric Flair talk forever idk why 😂
Flair?
(Keep on crushing it Chris!)
eric looks like a billionaire
🤨
I recently got a letter in the mail from Neilsen offering like 5 bucks or something like that to become a Nielsen household. I only use streaming services so I have no clue how that would even work. I've often thought that AEW is watched online more than on cable.
Boy was Eric wrong about the Dana white thing lol
Eric Bischoff n w o Hulk Hogan Scott Hall Kevin Nash
Hey CVV...
Have you done an interview with Sting, yet? I haven't been able to find it, if you have.... he was my all time favorite wrestler in WcW!!!
It would be awesome to see y'all both talk!!!
Personally, I preferred Eric’s Tito & Tarantula theme. “I’m Back” is a bop but that first one, such a chunky riff 🔥🥵🔥🥵
I think the idea of Cm Punk is bigger than Cm Punk himself
Enjoy seeing and hearing the interviews.Freddy Prince Jr.interview awesome, and Bryan Cage and Cody Rhodes years back awesome.Happy new year and congrats on your blessings.
That's Philip and Simon Rhee father.best of the best film
Firstly who wanted to see Rick Ross in AEW involved in a planned Tag Team breakup that was built up for months.
The volume levels for a lot of this were too for the usual devices I listen on, I saved it for a later time because I enjoy most content from CVV. 👍✌️❤️
In the beginning of this wasn't sting much like hbk and others at the time pill popping? Could have sworn sting went through addiction issues back then
For the record Chris in the early 2000's I was an official Nelson household. Now you met somebody...😁
4:25 those of us that live in Vegas 😒. 😂😂
I always wondered for awhile what Eric Bischoff would look like if he dyed his hair black again. Such a great interview and Bischoff always has my attention.
